never too late at all! i’ve been thinking about them because i’ve been working on your marmily-valzhang fic! i think in canon that hera / juno really did love esperanza and emily in her own way. they represent her ideals of familial loyalty and fidelity in different ways (i could rant about this but i won’t here!)

while i have mars act as the annoying boyfriend who calls the gf’s mom “ma” and harasses her whenever he comes around.

meanwhile i think that juno appreciates emily’s commitment, her talents, and her passion and drive. i think it’s a fun contrast to her appreciation for esperanza as a mother because emily and esperanza embody two kinds of motherhood. emily was allowed to be a daughter but esperanza wasn’t.

i think there was resentment there from emily but only as much as she had for her own mother. juno recognizing her power as a woman / a legacy and how special she was 💔
