Young Flame - Mark - Chapter 4

A/N I hope this chapter is fine for you guys and was kind of unexpected idk? I just hope you like it!

Three days later

Living here had been so much more better than you had originally thought, the people here were so nice and caring even though you had literally known each other for three days. There had been no major incidents like what had happened on your first day here and you had got to see how great of a family everyone was. It was better here, the supernatural world had been made out to be such a nightmare but in your case it was the human world which was like that. Although you shouldn’t speak so soon since these were only a handful of the supernaturals living in this world, plus you hadn’t had much luck when you first found out about them with the werewolves and that. But this felt different, the atmosphere was different, everything was different and you liked it.

You lay in your bed, the morning light shining through your curtains and making various patterns along your walls. It seemed early, too early, yet you were wide awake and couldn’t go back to sleep even if you tried. You decided to just stay there, that was the easiest option that prevented the need to get up and face responsibilities. Apparently that wasn’t going to happen.

‘Y/N! Taeyong hyung told me to tell you to get ready.’

A voice you recognised as Sicheng’s said.

‘What on earth for?’

‘School~’

Just that word alone made you shoot up from your comfortable position. Surely they weren’t going to send you back, not after everything that had happened, not after. You shuddered from the thought of it, there was no way you were going back to that hell hole, not in a million years and if that meant fighting every supernatural here then you would be more than happy to do so.

‘Oh wait I should be more specific, it’s home schooling. All the dreamies have to go too~’

You sigh in relief, you could bare this at least. A small smile crept onto your face at the thought of being able to go to school with the boys, you didn’t really know how smart everyone was or how they were going to be in class but you could give it a good go. From what you’ve seen Renjun definitely seems like the student that doodles all over his notebook instead of writing down the notes, Mark seemed like the kid who tries his hardest but is easily distracted, then there’s Chenle who just doesn’t pay attention at all and is too busy laughing at the class clowns Haechan and Jaemin, now that you think about it Jeno seems like the only one who’d pay attention in class and would at least try and get Jisung to take notes of some sort.

‘Right I’ll be as fast as I can!’

You yelled, jumping out of bed and running towards the closet.

None of this was what you had imagined at all, everyone sat there silently writing down notes. Not a single word came out of Haechan’s mouth, not even Chenle let out one of his glass shattering laughs. This is no fun You thought to yourself whilst fiddling with a pencil. The notes in front of you showed exactly how bored you were, you had drew just about every animal possible and were now onto drawing the boys wolf form. You hadn’t even noticed Ten hovering above you looking at every drawing diligently.

‘Taeyong we have quite the doodler over here.’

He said making you jump out of your skin, all attention was on you making you shrivel into your seat. Taeyong sighed and walked towards your desk reaching for your sheet of paper. He took one glance at it and let out a deep chuckle.

‘Is this really how you picture me as a wolf?’

He muttered amused by your drawing, you lightly smiled up at him and gave him pleading eyes in hopes you wouldn’t get into trouble.

‘Okay everyone go outside for a break, when you return we’ll learn about different supernaturals rather than maths maybe Y/N will be more interested in that. But Y/N you will need to get your notes off one of the boys later.’

You nodded and rose from your seat following the rest of the boys who had already made it out of the room.

You all were sitting under the same tree as before lying lazily due to the heat. It was nice being with the younger boys, they were all around your age and you somehow felt closer to them. You loved the relationship they all had too, how they were all like a bunch of brothers, it was nice being in an environment like that.

‘Can we just talk about how Y/N is totally Taeyong’s favourite.’

Haechan suddenly said making everyone sit up and face him. They all nodded in agreement, even Mark which surprised you as you always saw him as the favourite.

‘How can you even say that I’ve been here for like 0.4 seconds?’

‘It’s been four days what are-’

He was interrupted by a deep growl that had erupted from Jeno, the atmosphere turned serious as everyone turned to look where Jeno was glaring. Jisung was in obvious discomfort as he frowned to himself. You were confused as to what was going on, was there danger? You didn’t think anyone knew about this place and if they did they came here for help not trouble.

Jeno had rose from his crouched position along with Jisung, he stood protectively in front of his younger brother releasing another growl from his throat. No one asked what was wrong, if they did that could just trigger him even more. You squinted at whatever had gotten Jeno so riled up, in the midst of all the greenery you could see an outline of another wolf. You let out a sharp gasp, the wolf was brown, just like the main wolf that had chased you not too long ago. Surely he didn’t know you were here? How could he?

Your face turned pale at the thought of it, once the wolf stepped of the woods you turned away not wanting to cause even more of a scene. It was too late Mark had already noticed something was wrong and turned to you in concern. No one seemed bothered about the large brown wolf that was slowly making its way over, only Jeno and Jisung.

‘Y/N what’s the matter? You’ve turned really pale… Haechan go get Taeyong and Jaehyun, quickly!’

It was getting harder for you to breath but you tried your best not to worry too much, if no one else was bothered then it was probably nothing. But then again why was Jeno so worked up? Just as you thought that there were several sounds of tearing and soon there were two wolves. The brown one was sitting and it looked as though he was smiling whereas Jeno was standing in a fighting position and growling over and over again.

Jisung looked lost, as though he wanted to help Jeno out but he looked to scared to do so. You forgot about your own problems and got up, walking towards Jisung. You placed a hand on his shoulder to attempt to comfort him, he smiled at you weakly and looked slightly better now he had someone by his side.

Before anyone had gotten time to register the situation more sounds of ripping clothes were heard behind you. You turned to see a large wolf bounding towards Jeno and the other wolf. You had never seen Johnny’s wolf, you were told he was a very big wolf and had fur that was almost pitch black but it had the slightest tint of blue present, you couldn’t even imagine that he was that large. He was taller than you whereas Jisung was only half your size and Jeno only slightly bigger than that.

Jeno stand down you know Hansol doesn’t mean harm

But alpha he-

Stand down

Right okay alpha

You weren’t too sure what you were hearing, it was like when you were getting chased before and you were able to hear their thoughts. You looked around and it looked as though no one else was understanding and the look of confusion stained their faces. Taeyong had arrived now along with Jaehyun and they walked towards the wolves.

‘Mark take Jisung inside, Renjun you take Chenle we can’t be having him get over excited. Jaemin Haechan stay and Y/N…You should probably go in as well.’

Y/N? Is she a human? You let a human stay in a house full of supernaturals are you insane? You even have a vampire did you not think about this? You’re putting her in danger by keeping her here.

‘I’m not in danger.’

You replied to the wolf, even though he wasn’t actually speaking to you and you weren’t too sure if you should’ve spoken up about it or not. Everyone looked at you in shock, even the wolves looked at you in disbelief.

‘You, you understand them?’

Taeyong asked you and you nodded, noticing the attention was on you yet again.

‘Okay well just wolves, go get sorted please and change we’ll talk about this inside. Y/N wait in the small hall for us, we need to talk.’

Everyone sat in silence their brows burrowed with concentration. You felt self concious knowing they were thinking about you and your new found talent, you didn’t want to speak up about it though.

‘I…You…We should… Y/N. I think I know why I was able to reach you when you needed help.’

You looked at Taeyong confused, you always thought it was because you prayed hard enough to allow him to reach you, you didn’t think if any other possibility. As though Jaehyun could read your mind, which you really wouldn’t be surprised if he could with his magical abilities, he smile at you.

‘Taeyong can’t usually hear human’s prayers for help, not unless there’s something special about said human.’

All eyes were on you although they never really left you. So you were special? You always knew that you weren’t exactly normal but heck was anybody? This whole time you had had a special something and out of everything it was that you could understand werewolves when they phase. It wasn’t the greatest talent you’ve got to admit but least it was something. This little something was what allowed you to be saved from getting mauled by a bunch of werewolves, but then again this little something made you aware you were about to get mauled by a bunch of werewolves, you couldn’t really win with it.

‘You having this ability was what allowed me to reach you Y/N, but as of yet we don’t know the extent of it and what other perks there is… that’s why we extremely advise you stay here until we do and you take lessons on how to reach the extent of it.’

You sighed at the thought of taking even more lessons, the one you had today was enough to put you off of them for life. But then again you were curious as to what you were capable of, with training would you be able to understand just regular animals? That was something you were willing to find out.

‘Okay, where do I sign up?’

Mark - Young Flame - Chapter 2

A/N Okay this chapter is left on a cliff hanger, which I’m actually going to try and do for each one. I’m sorry if you hate me for that but it keeps tensions high lmao. I know it’s kinda short compared to the last chapter but it’s just to help the plot move along~

The question hung in your mind, would you like to stay here? You had only been here for a few minutes but it already felt like home. You had only just met these people that were meant to be strangers yet they already felt like close friends in which you could confide in. It scared you a little, how people you had never met before had this sort of effect on you, or maybe it was because you weren’t used to the feeling of welcome.

That was probably it. You were so used to being treated like utter shit and it wasn’t just at school. Having alcoholic parents who were on the brink of divorce and only wanted to stay with each for the money probably wasn’t the best thing to grow up with. Neither was being your older brother’s personal slave and having to do his chores along with all his homework, that was never a home to you and they were never a family to you. The thought of being able to get away from all of that was something that wasn’t hard to resist at all.

‘W-well if you don’t mind then I’d love to!’

You said all too enthusiastically which earned a weird look from Mark but Taeyong nodded understandingly, as if he could see all your troubles and knew of everything you had gone through.

‘I will show you to your room later but right now…Mark why don’t you take her to the garden? I’m sure Ten will be out there tending to it now, the rest of the younger ones are out there minus Jisung and Jeno, they’re out patrolling.’

Mark nodded and bowed towards Taeyong. Just then Taeyong’s figure was replaced with light and then with nothing, you didn’t know when you would get used to that but you sure hoped it was soon since you saw him doing it a lot around here. You looked over at Mark, he had a serious look on his face and frowned at the floor. He suddenly looked up at you, that stern look still present on his face.

‘Why…Why do you want to stay here? What about your mum and dad? What will they think when they found out you’re gone and won’t ever be coming back? How could you live with yourself knowing that you did that to them?’

You noticed that he wasn’t really aiming his anger at you but more at himself, his eyes shone a light orange and his fists were clenched. You noticed the rise of temperature around you and the small embers that were floating down from Mark’s fists. This must be what he meant, he had no control of his powers at all and unfortunately you were the one about to figure this out.

You looked around for anywhere to hide but there was nothing, nothing that wasn’t flammable anyway. You were about to call out for help when two figures were seen running towards you, one was wearing a robe and looked like he was holding some sort of twig in his hand. The other was very handsome there was no denying that but as you looked closer you could see the faint outline of a pair of wings starting to appear out of his back.

‘Mark calm down, you’ll burn the whole mansion if you lose it!’

The winged figure said as he started to run at full speed now, having such long corridors really wasn’t practical in situations such as these. It was no use, Mark’s eyes were now a prominent red and flames started to appear from his hand, you lifted your arms up in a useless attempt to protect yourself and anticipated the blast. It never came.You looked up to see Mark in a huge protective bubble, flames no longer present and instead they had been replaced with steam.

‘Jaehyun calming him down would be a real big help, anytime now please my bubble won’t last forever.’

The twig holder said as he pointed it towards Mark, it seemed as though he was responsible for Mark’s captivity and single handedly saving your life. The one referred as Jaehyun took a step towards the giant bubble and lifted up his hands, light shone from out of them and the atmosphere turned soothing and calm. The bubble faded and Mark stood there with a solemn look on his face, he looked over to you with apologetic eyes.

‘Jaehyun, Doyoung thank you for that and Y/N…I’m so sorry I lost control of myself please forgive me, you’re not hurt are you?’

You shook your head, still too in shock to get yourself to speak. You turned to Jaehyun and Doyoung and bowed in gratitude, if it wasn’t for them who knows what would’ve happened to you and everyone else who lived in this mansion.

‘Don’t worry about it Mark, and is it Y/N? I’m Jaehyun it’s nice to meet you.’

Jaehyun beamed and ruffled your hair, usually you’d get mad if someone else did that but something about him radiated serenity and you couldn’t bring yourself to get even remotely annoyed.

‘Mark please learn to control your power I can’t be making these bubbles all the time it’s really draining. And hello Y/N I’m Doyoung and it’s such a pleasure to meet you.’

Doyoung gave you a smile but also held out his hand for you to shake, he seemed so much older than what he looked though you shook his hand anyway to be polite.

‘Doyoung could you at least try and act your age? And Mark the rest of the boys are waiting for you outside, they’re talking about playing hide and seek again in the woods.’

Jaehyun said with one last smile before turning back around with Doyoung following behind muttering what you could only guess was curse words. Letting out a small laugh you turned back to Mark, he still looked pretty troubled and you heart shattered at how sad he truly looked. You couldn’t even begin to imagine how much he must’ve been through, to not know how to control your own powers and constantly being afraid of hurting, maybe even killing, those in that you love.

You walked over to him and gave him a light pat on the shoulder, he turned his gaze from the floor over to you and smiled weakly.

‘Come on lets go play hide and seek with the others, don’t beat yourself over it Mark, the past is in the past and you just have to focus on the future.’

You said with a smile and skipped off in front.

‘Now come on before I get lost!’

You yelled and began running down the halls, Mark running closely behind.

You sat in the shade and watched the boys argue about who’s the seeker. It was quite amusing really, a group of teenage boys arguing over such a childish game. Even Mark had joined in with the heated discussion since everyone was pointing fingers at him saying that he was the oldest and should, by some form of messed up logic, be the seeker.

‘Don’t worry they’re always like this.’

Someone said beside you, catching you off guard. You looked to the side of you and found a small group of four men standing beside you, one of them seemed to be levitating and you were sure that’s where the voice had come from.

‘Ahh yes, all the time. Are you the new human that Taeyong bought in? Y/N is it?’

Another said, he had the sweetest voice and his hair was permed which actually suited him quite well.

‘Yes I am Y/N! Who are you guys?’

‘Oh right sorry about that how rude of us, I’m Taeil and I know you didn’t ask but to stop you from being curious, I’m a siren.’

‘I’m Winwin! I’m a hybrid, a mix of angel and demon but don’t worry hyungs say I’m more pure than evil!’

‘Yeah unfortunately…I’m Yuta, I am a demon. You’re better off not touching me either it’ll kill you, that’s me being serious not greasy.’

‘He’s right on that one, I’m Ten! I’m a Djinn and this here is my garden, pretty magnificent isn’t it~’

You looked around at the greenery surrounding you, it truly was magnificent just as Ten had said. Everything looked so beautiful but then you caught the other boys in the corner of your eye. It didn’t look like a small petty argument now instead it looked serious and it looked as though it was only Mark and Haechan who had a problem now.

‘Please excuse me, I’m going to see what’s going on.’

You said and gave them one last smile before running off towards the others. When you arrived Renjun looked at you and he looked very anxious, whatever those two were arguing about it definitely wasn’t about being a seeker.

‘Haechan just shut up, at least I can actually say I know my parents! It’s not like I wanted to lose control is it I never wanted to hurt anybody!’

Mark screamed with pure rage, you had seen that look in his eye not too long before, the pools of brown were soon turning red and you knew if someone didn’t do something soon he was going to lose it.

‘I never meant for them to get like this Y/N, I just asked Mark if he was okay and if you were okay, I heard what was going off up there so I just had to ask. I never meant for Haechan to get so riled up about it and start yelling at Mark, I never meant for it to get this bad.’

Renjun said, he eyes were glossy and a single tear rolled down his cheek. So this is what it was all about, the situation that had just happened minutes ago. For a mansion so big word sure does go around quick.

‘You don’t even know your real parents Mark! For gods sake how can you not realise that you’re adopted!’

Mark -Young Flame - Chapter 1

A/N Here’s the first chapter of Mark’s mini series; Young Flame! I hope this chapter was alright for you all and have a clearer perspective on how this plot may pan out! I’m super excited to get further into this and the next chapter will be out in a couple of days!

‘Hey Y/N! Where do you think you’re going you pretty little thing? You can run but you can’t hide!’

That voice, the voice you couldn’t stand, the voice that every time you heard it you would want to shove daggers down your ears so you’d never have to hear it again. That voice would always be followed by two others, his little minions that would go with him to the ends of the Earth. They were all of going to hell, everyone at that damn school would be. They all watched you suffer every day, they knew what those three boys were doing to you, how they touched you and how they irritated you. No one did anything, not even the teachers who always preached student safety yet when the time came to it they’d shove their head in the sand to avoid it all.

You ran, ran and ran as if your life depended on it because for you it really did. The wind danced its way through your hair as twigs and dried out leaves crunched underneath your feet. The woods. You’d definitely lose them in the woods. Running further into the depths of the trees multiple tearing and cracking sounds were heard behind you, you turned back to see that the three boys had been replaced by three large wolves. A large scream escaped from your lungs but it was no use. If a girl screamed in the woods but there was no one there to hear it, did she really scream?

You ran even faster than before, you didn’t even think it was possible but you somehow managed it, fear being your only fuel. What surprised you even more is that you could hear everything the wolves were thinking, everything they were saying when communicating to each other telepathically. That spurred you on even more, the things they were saying scared you and the things that they were capable of made you think if this was all a dream.

‘Please anyone! Please help me!’

You knew it was useless to shout out for help in the middle of a desolate forest but what else were you to do, there could be someone out here hunting. It’s not hunting season but there’s always someone willing to break the rules just to kill a small innocent animal. There could be a ranger of some sort, keeping the peace and making sure no one gets eaten by killer wolves, that would be a nice turn of events. What you didn’t expect however was a piercing glow of light to appear in front of you and a young man standing in the center of it all with a great pair of white wings protruding from his back.

One stern look from the mysterious man sent the wolves running followed with a cry of whimpers. His glare changed into a soft smile as he looked down at you but soon it turned to a confused one.

‘Are you…Human?’

He asked, tilting his head as he tried to grasp the situation.

‘W-well yeah but what in the world are you? I didn’t think angels actually existed.’

A quiet laugh escaped his lips and he held out his hand towards you, urging you to take it. For some reason you felt safe with him, you didn’t know his name yes but there was a sense of home in him. Because of that you took his hand without even thinking, not even asking where he was taking you as you didn’t feel the need to, you somehow already trusted him with your life. Is that the effect an angel can have on you?

Within 0.1 seconds you had arrived in a new place. It seemed as though you were inside a mansion, a very big mansion too. It’s walls loomed high above you and the room you were in itself was the size of half a football field. You looked around, intrigued by everything you saw. There was many photos on the walls, some of three wolves and others of a bat soaring in the night sky. One in particular took your eye, it was a picture of 15 boys one of them including the angel you saw. They were all laughing and smiling together, they looked so close and you knew they all had to be living in this massive mansion together.

‘Taeyong hyung you’re back! Did you bring anyone- Oh my god is that a human?’

A young boy said as he ran into the room. You could get a small glimpse of his snaggle tooth and his bright eyes shone at you as he took you in. Just as you were about to speak the angel, who was now known as Taeyong, clasped his hands over your ears.

‘A HUMAN!!!’

Someone screamed. The sound of glass shattering could be heard and Taeyong removed his hands away from your ears, letting out a deep sigh. The young boy who had run in earlier was now accompanied by six others who looked around his age. They were all undeniably handsome but one in particular caught your eye, he was wearing an over sized jumper with blue ripped jeans and brown hair that you wanted to ruffle so bad.

‘Boys this is Y/N, she’s the human who needed my help. Do be polite and introduce yourselves.’

You turned to Taeyong wondering how on Earth he even knew your name, he just gave you a smile before disappearing leaving you with the seven boys.

‘Sorry for my sudden outburst earlier I’ve just never seen Taeyong bring a human back before! I’m Renjun by the way~’

‘I’m Chenle! I’m the one that screamed human a minute ago!’

‘Sorry for these two idiots, I’m Donghyuk but call me Haechan if you wish. I’m the coolest one here.’

‘’As if you’re the coolest one here it’s obvious that I am come on now hyung, I’m Jaemin and I’m the coolest one here without a doubt!’

‘Can’t you two give it a rest already jesus, I’m Jeno and it’s nice to meet you Y/N.’

‘E-erm I’m Jisung… I’m the maknae here.’

‘You’re going to scare her off if you carry on like this guys. I’m Mark and I’m the oldest out of the lot.’

You looked over all of them reciting their names over and over until it was locked in. Yet again just as you opened your mouth to speak Taeyong reappeared beside Mark. The boy’s attention went from you to Taeyong as they stared at him in awe, it seemed as if he was a great role model here and was adored. One by one the boys left a part from Mark, it was as if they were all communicating mentally just as the wolves did before except this time you had no idea what they were saying.

Soon Taeyong disappeared and left Mark standing there awkwardly. He looked over in your direction and let out a small sigh.

‘E-erm so Y/N…Do you want a tour? I’ve got a lot of explaining to do so going on a tour around the house might help.’

You thought about his request, you were really curious about this house and the people living in it. Plus Mark did seem like an ordinary person but he can’t be human either since you’re the first one to ever step foot in this house. You looked at him and smiled, nodding your head as your response.

‘Okay so I-um… this house. This mansion really. It’s known as N City,Taeyong created it for supernaturals who were troubled to live here so everyone here is a supernatural.’

You walked beside Mark as he went on with his story, listening into every detail intently. He paused for a second knowing you must have a bunch of questions for him, which he wasn’t wrong your head was overflowing with all sorts of questions.

‘So then what sort of supernatural are you? And what about the other boys I met’

‘Well I’m a phoenix, I have fire powers although I’m not too sure how to control them at the minute but I am working on it. Chenle is a Banshee, that’s how he was able to smash that glass which is everyday thing by the way. Haechan and Jaemin are shape shifters Jaemin just isn’t… isn’t a very good one yet. Renjun is a Vampire but don’t worry he’s a vegetarian, that leaves Jeno and Jisung, they’re werewolves which I believe you already know of?’

You flash backed to the time you were in the woods, running and running. That was the only time you thought you were going to die and hopefully the last. It made you think that if students that you went to school with everyday were werewolves, does that mean there’s more of them in that school? Did anyone else even know about them or was it just you?

‘Hey no don’t get upset I’m sorry if I brought up any bad memories, I’ll change the subject.’

You smiled at how sweet he was and shook your head.

‘Don’t worry about it Mark it’s fine~’

He smiled back at you making eye contact. You got lost in his eyes as he got lost in yours, you noticed that within his brown pools there was little specks of orange. So you really are a phoenix huh? You thought to yourself as you counted all the bits of orange you could find.

‘Yoo Mark- Ooh who’s this?’

You jumped away from each other and looked up at the tall figure in front of you. His hair was a dark blue but could easily be mistaken as black and he had warm welcoming eyes.

‘E-erm Johnny, this is Y/N.’

‘Well it’s nice too meet you Y/N! Now before I go out on patrol I have one question…Are you a dog or cat person?’

‘I quite like both…I don’t know, dogs?’

Johnny had a huge smile on his face and looked as though he was holding back laughter.

‘Really? Same here!’

He finally burst out laughing and clapping his hands as you stood there confused as to what was so funny. You turned to Mark who had his head in his hands and shaking his head, he glanced at your confused expression and sighed.

‘He’s a werewolf.’

Realisation hit you and you cringed at how bad the joke was but couldn’t help but laugh how much of a comedic genius Johnny thought he was. Light started to appear beside Johnny and soon after arrived Taeyong.

‘Johnny you must really work on your jokes, but the pups are waiting for you downstairs and they’re ready to go whenever you’re ready.’

Johnny gathered his composure and bowed slightly at you and Mark then turned to face Taeyong.

‘I’ll be off now then I’d hate to keep the pups waiting they get rowdy when they’re impatient. Also come on my joke wasn’t that bad~’

Johnny pouted before heading off down the vast corridor. You were sure you hadn’t even seen half of the mansion yet or met a lot of the people living here, after all there was a photograph with fifteen people and you’d only met nine. You wondered what other sort of supernaturals lived here and if they were all as interested in you as the others were. Taeyong said something that snapped you out of your thoughts although you didn’t quite catch what it was.

‘I’m sorry what did you say?’

‘I said, would you like to stay here with us all? We have more than enough room and we’ll take care of you~’
