Liberals insist on supporting the Democrats’ actual genocide because of their imaginary support for trans rights, but refuse to support China and its actual progress in trans rights because of their imaginary genocide.

Scenario: a sample of your DNA was taken, popped into a cell, and cloned into a baby, gestated in a sci-fi artificial womb vat. The first time you or anyone in your family meets this baby is after it has already been born out of said vat. You can hold the newborn if you want, it's up to you, but it is a living breathing baby that was cloned from your DNA and is genetically identical to you.
I love clone philosophy. Give me all your philosophy of clones

For example, if you're speaking to a receptionist at a medical practice or calling idk your insurance company
I was going to specify "the first time" but then I realized I'm actually more likely to spell my name automatically if I know they're looking it up in a set of records

It’s actually disgusting me that people are choosing to forget about Palestine not even a full year into this ongoing genocide. Nothing is better. Nothing has slowed down. It’s just underreported. It’s just that western media outlets aren’t pretending to care. The iof is still targeting aid distribution centers, it’s still killing hundreds of Palestinians a day, it’s still preventing medical aid from entering North Gaza. So many diseases are robbing families of their loved ones. It is worse than it has ever been. Less people are talking about it now because they no longer want to be bothered to care

A while back my pharmacist saw my deadname on my profile and accidentially called it out, he corrected and deleted my deadname from the system so only my preferred name shows up now. There was a crowd of people behind me, so as he hands over the pills he apologized, in equal tone and volume as when he called my deadname and lied saying it's been a long day and he didn't mean to call out -his own- name. I quietly told him it was fine and he didn't need to do that for my sake.
His response: "No, it's my name now."
I went to the pharmacist yesterday, his nametag is my deadname. He informed me he's immigrating and in the process he's changed his first name to my deadname to have an English sounding name. That's why he's now able to get a reprint of his nametag to be my deadname. And repeated, with the intense seriousness of someone who is going to die on this hill: "It's mine now. Not yours. I'm taking." His tone indicated that decision is final.
Bro literally deadnamed me once, and has committed to flat out stealing my deadname. It's his now. Legally. Officially. I over heard his co-workers call him by the name.

Apparently in China peach wood (Along with the rest of the plant) is believed to have properties that repel evil spirits, a little similar to silver in European legends or iron for both European fae and West Asian/Middle eastern Jinn. Taoists sometimes keep swords made of peach wood because of this. This made me realize something. If you took a peach wood stick, and attached studs to it of both silver and iron you'd end up with a club or staff (or mace, flail etc.) that would have the weaknesses of many kinds of supernatural creatures while still retaining effectiveness as a normal weapon (peach is a hardwood and silver's poor edge retention doesn't matter for studs). You could even keep adding new stud materials to get something ridiculous that affects over 120 catalogued folkloric monsters. Since you just need a few little studs you could even get some really expensive materials like meteoric iron (a thumb tip sized meteorite can still cost like 10-20 bucks I think). I could somewhat feasibly make a weapon that affects every monster ever thought to walk the earth, from vampires and werewolves to jinn and jiangshi and even mankind.

As I’m gearing up for Renn Faire season in the South I figured I’d reminisce about last year’s Faire. It was a few weeks after October 7th and I insisted on wearing the biggest, loudest Magen David I could. I knew the risks. Every year there are about 50 men dressed as inquisition-era cardinals— and WAY more than 50 Viking men with futhark and valknut tattoos. Nearly every merchant stall sold a crucifix, and none sold a Magen David. I got my fair share of weird looks and angry comments. People would go out of their way to come up to me and say weird ass shit. But I held my ground. (I had a big ass spear with me, which I think helped significantly.)
And it was worth it. Because one older man who ran a tiny stall called me over and asked if I was Jewish. I answered proudly, expecting the worst. And then he pulled his Magen David out from under his tunic. “I knew I had to keep wearing it, but I was too afraid of someone seeing it,” he said. “Thank you. You give me hope.” We both cried as we spoke about our relationship to our culture and our faith, surrounded by people who despised us. That’s all it took. A weekend of evil eyes and antisemitic comments paled in comparison to giving hope to one old Jewish man.
That’s how I feel about this blog, and about my in-person activism. It doesn’t matter how much antisemitism and bigotry I see constantly. It frustrates me, for sure, but at the end of the day, it’s all worth it. Because people in need of hope reach out to me to tell me how meaningful my work is to them. That’s all the motivation I need to keep going. That’s all I need to put on a brave face and be an unapologetic Jew in a difficult time.
Everything will be alright for as long as we have each other. Everything will be okay as long as we have hope. Whatever joy and positivity we can muster is stronger than all their hate. עם ישראל חי.
