As a Latina, an American, and as someone who has somehow amassed a small following, I can no longer stay silent. While I like the idea of having a non-political space as a breather of everything that is going on, I realized that I cannot stay silent and not use this small blog of mine to speak on the blatant abuse and violence that is going on against my community.

So if you are willing and interested in helping immigrants in the United States, please look below.

DONATE TO THE DETAINED IMMIGRANT BOND FUND: When someone gets detained, their loved ones can ask for an immigrant bond, and if granted, can allow for the detained individual to let go home while they go through court proceedings. This fund helps families bring their loved ones home

DONATE TO THE IMMIGRANT DEFENDERS LAW CENTER: An immigrant rights group that provides free legal services to immigrants

DONATE TO THE COALITION FOR HUMANE IMMIGRANT RIGHTS: Another immigrant rights group that provides free legal services to immigrants

REPORT 🧊 SIGHTINGS: If you are in the US and see 🧊 in your community, report it to rapid response line OR websites such as People Over Papers. If you do report a sighting, please be detailed and make sure it's accurate. We want to inform communities, not incite fear!

IF YOU SEE SOMEONE GETTING DETAINED BY 🧊, RECORD/ DOCUMENT IT: Videos and photos can help connect people find their loved ones and even possibly help in their case.

SUPPORT LOCAL PRO-IMMIGRANT GROUPS/ BUSINESSES IN YOUR AREA: Google them, trust me they exist. See what you can do. Show them your support.

INFORM PEOPLE OF THEIR RIGHTS: Read more at Immigrant Resource Legal Center and the ACLU about rights that every person, no matter their legal status, has in the US.

Obviously this is not everything one can do but it's something to get started. Feel free to share and build on from this post.

ICE raids are taking place all over the country.

Don’t know what to do but want to help?

⭑ know your rights !!! these tips WILL protect and save you so spread them as much as you can.

⭑ donate !!!! help lawyers protect and keep families together. support immigrant owned businesses so they can afford consultations and legal help.

⭑ protest !!! you can do something as simple as attending a protest. protests can/will chase ICE agents out of neighborhoods.

⭑ spread the word !!!! if you see something, speak up. contact (1-855-435-7693) to: report any ICE activity, support someone in ICE custody, and/or connect with an immigration lawyer. this hotline has a ton of other resources as well. they also speak multiple languages.

This might seem like a rant, but truly I am so sick of pretending nothing is happening. ICE has been coming to graduations, job sites, schools, court hearings, etc. to detain people. Hispanic people.

All this week there will raids in California, raging through the north and south.

And we can pretend this is about getting criminals, but if that was the case, why are they picking up mothers? Children in schools? Men trying to provide for their families? Citizens who are Hispanic-Americans?

My heart breaks when I see children sobbing over losing their parents, or even the idea of having somebody take away their parents. And I wish I could be there for them, and to hold them, tell them everything will be okay. Because at some point, I was that kid. I remember being in elementary school, in my predominantly Hispanic school, and everybody in there just looked distraught. Because truly we were all little kids wondering what would happen to us if our family was taken away.

And now I'm an adult and I'm seeing babies going through the same thing. I know how it feels. It's so stressful being a child and already having to think about what to do if our parents or siblings are taken away. What would happen if we were taken away

Mothers and fathers cry being kidnapped by armed people in masks, ripped away from their families. From their young children.

God, I feel so much pain seeing my community being detained by white men and women in masks, cowards who kidnap my people off the streets to keep them in mass deportation centers; with no due process, no beds to sleep on, no translators, no communication to their families. They are treating my people like criminals, and like animals. I feel more pain when I see that most of these ICE agents are Hispanic. Hispanic men and women, the children of immigrants, snatching up their own people without remorse. Is that bringing them closer to whiteness? Validation? The proximity that they crave so deeply? How does it feel to grovel, hoping they will pick you?

My community are hardworking people who came here for a better opportunity. Which is exactly why America was made. But just for white people, right? It was okay when the colonies came and murdered the Natives, right? When they made African Americans their slaves? Brutalized them, then tried to wipe it from the history books.

I can't go on acting like nothing is happening. This was never about criminals or doing it legally. It's about making sure the United States is a white nation.
