it was rare for demetri to be alone; usually with a volturi by his side, most often felix, always on the move. but this a new place, one he’d have to get to know. the more people he met, the easier his job would be in the future - unfortunately, he’d have to do more talking than he liked to. he settled for the mystic grill for the night; the bar was far from his taste, but it would do. he’d heard it’s where the locals usually came to visit as well. he wasn’t exactly charmed by the service, though. “ah, finally. does it usually take an average of thirty minutes to get a scotch here or is it just in my case?”

mingling wasn’t something corin was particularly good at. even though she wouldn’t have changed her life with the volturi for anything, it wasn’t exactly great for socialising. however, they were in a new place away from volterra and corin was surrounded by people once again meaning it was finally time for her to be cordial again after so many years. with a smile she walked across the town square of mystic falls, sitting next to the first person she found. “well that looks interesting.” she smiled, feigning enthusiasm. 

being an exceptional tracker had its downfalls as well. with the volturi scattered all over mystic falls now, it was demetri’s job to find them one by one whenever they were needed. like begging your child to come back home for dinner, demetri thought. a few moments later he spotted her and it seemed like she’d already made a friend and he couldn’t blame her. he was thankful his job allowed him to wander around the world as much as he could. “sorry to interrupt your lovely chat-” he flashed the stranger a smile as he approached the two. “-but i’m afraid i have to steal corin away for a bit.”

born a loooong time ago in thessaloniki, the byzantine empire. 

he was the middle child out of five siblings. the tornikinos were what you’d consider lower class; lysandra, demetri’s younger sister was the first in the family to receive proper education. 

artemius died during the byzantine-georgian wars. demetri was fourteen. eventually his older brothers moved out, had families of their own. all the responsibilities lay on demetri - he couldn’t abandon his family. he was one of the best hunters in thessaloniki, his catches filling most of the meat markets there. 

and then.. a lot of it is a blur. his memory betrays him sometimes; this old life feeling so surreal. who was his father? he doesn’t know. it doesn’t matter. he remembers caring for his mother, his little siblings. he remembers how it felt to love them. laughing at orion’s jokes. helping out lysandra with her studies. does he remember lysandra’s face or has he made up some image in his head? he’ll never know.

he remembers anna. her beautiful wedding gown, her tears when demetri left to die in the same war his father had. only, he didn’t die. he changed. amun found him and gave him a new life. he saw demetri’s talents, embraced them and trained him. if he’d been a good hunter as human, now demetri was truly something else.

to his loved ones, he was presumed dead. it’s better this way, amun would say, but demetri didn’t listen. it wasn’t hard to find anna - just a month after his transformation. it was dangerous, but demetri was confident in himself, his abilities and restrain as usual. little did he know how easy it would be to lose control at the sight of anna with another man; just a month later and she’d already replaced him. did she even mourn? did she even care? that night, demetri made his first kill. he’d fed on people before, but amun always made sure that the man would have restraint. not tonight, though. he hadn’t meant to kill anna as well, but he was thirsty. he was angry. he’d spend the next hundred years mourning her, hating and blaming himself, until one day.. it didn’t matter. 

it didn’t take long for the volturi to hear of demetri’s gift and offer him a place in his guard. whatever the volturi wanted, they got; besides, with chelsea’s gift it was hard to refuse. demetri had been the volturi's lone tracker since then, and he was in charge of hunting down anyone who sought to avoid the volturi's grasp, typically out of fear of death. he was known as the world's best tracker, with the ability to track anyone, anywhere, as long as he had physically encountered them or anyone who had encountered them.

some wanted plots: 

* descendant (demetri has kept track of his family ever since he turned. to his surprise, one of his descendants is in mystic falls).  * people he’s turned * friends / acquantances / frenemies. ppl he gets along with but would betray in a heartbeat for the volturi.  * exes / past flings / hook ups. demetri doesn’t do serious relationships so most of these would have been casual, but i’m also down for a serious relationship that ended up in a disaster * more volturi plots in general and also pls his bestie felix!! * anything we could think of <3
