The bad thing about coming back into the world after long periods of isolation and reintegrating into human society was how he felt stuck in limbo. Everything around him went at the speed of light while the vampire lazily watched all happened.
He preferred the long days and even longer nights of the evening. There, where Father Time was a distant nightmare and Mother Nature cradled you into Peace. Sometimes: only mere days had passed before Joshua found himself back in the human’s jungles. Other times: it was centuries.
As he began to plan his trip back to the wilderness, a familiar scent caught his attention. It was odd for the vampire to meet people more than twice, but this scent he would never forget... As he swiftly approached the young woman, a smile assaulted his features. While Joshua was usually the one breaking promises and trust, Andrea had been the first individual, other than his maker, to make Joshua feel betrayed. Still, he couldn’t help being glad she was alive.
“Hey, Andrea. I should be really angry, you know... But... I’m so happy you’re safe,” he admitted.

My Alibi was a relatively new club in Gotham, opening its doors a year after the death of Carmine Falcone and the destruction of what was now referred to as ‘Old Gotham’, locals and newcomers alike flocking to it as it lacked the reputation older establishments within the city held. Many believed new meant safe, untainted, the usual names not being attached to it enticing them to feel secured. Falcone and Maroni were gone, Cobblepot was on the other side of the bridge, the likes of Roman Sionis or Sal Valestra had yet to be spotted inside—there was no risk. There was no danger.
What all those people were foolishly forgetting, was that crime was constant in Gotham, and it never failed to adapt. To renew and mutate, finding new ways and masks to hide in plain sight. Even going as far as to build a secret entrance to an underground private lounge, avoiding attracting attention whenever the local mobsters decided to visit. Times might have changed, buildings and power dynamics too, but Gotham City never did…
Andrea gently pushed her way through the crowd, brown eyes carefully inspecting their surroundings. She made sure to keep her inspections subtle, gaze never lingering for too long in one place, considering her options as she settled at the bar. She needed to find the secret entrance, and somehow find a way inside. Andrea ordered a drink, turning back towards the dance floor, brow furrowing when she spotted a familiar face approaching, one she never thought she’d see again. “Joshua?"

the dark-haired woman would have for sure been hurt if she hadn’t been used to fighting, or she hadn’t any of the runes she had on her body. after all, she didn’t know what she would do without the runes, she would be still for sure be deadly, she knew she was, but it would not be the same.
isabelle crossed her arms over her chest, an amused smile tugging the corners of her lips at his answer, after all, she had a good memory. “ i knew it ” she chuckled softly, shaking her head. a warm smile appeared on her lips as the man finally took the helmet off. “ on the weekends ” she nodded, a chuckle leaving her lips. “ nice to have bumped into you, joshua ” the young woman smiled. “ i’m isabelle every day ” she smiled.
Joshua couldn’t help chuckling when the stranger repeated his own dumb jokes. He would be embarrassed later, but just then he was beginning to understand he had forgotten how to be a normal human being rather than a weird nerd.
Joshua chuckled even harder when the woman---who had introduced herself as Isabelle---replied with a jest of her own in response to his attempts at comedy. “My pleasure,” the vampire insisted, slightly bowing his head. Remembering Olivia had been following him, Joshua looked back over his shoulder for a moment before his attention was once again taken by Isabelle. “You often go on walks by yourself in the dead of night too or is it kind of the first time for you?” he joked, subtly pointing out it could be dangerous to be out and about alone. She didn’t quite smell like a human though, her scent accompanied by a familiar sweetness. Fairy, maybe? Or shadowhunter?

Isabelle still asked herself why had she been sent to that place, there was nothing, at least not that she had seen with her own eyes. Being sent away from New York just to get to a place like that was something she wasn’t expecting. She was one of the best why send her to a place like that?
Yet, that didn’t stop her from wandering around, her encanto rune perfectly drown on her forearm, just not trying to be noticed, at least not that night. The raven-haired woman walked fast, her heels tapping on the floor of the silent town, just trying not to bump into anyone but even if she was always focused on her surroundings she ended up bumping into someone.
Isabelle took a step back to look at the male, for a second her eyes opened wide as she noticed who that cape belonged to, but it wasn’t possible Simon was there? Wasn’t it? Yet as her dark gaze found him she instantly realized he wasn’t the person she thought. “ Oh, it’s fine ” she assured, a smile pulling the corners of her lips. “ Darth Vader, right? ”
|
Recovering from his mini panic attack, the vampire fixed his helmet as he focused on the stranger before him. She assure him it was fine, but Joshua was still doubtful. After all, he’d been running at a speed most humans had not experienced as of yet and he’d barely had time to stop completely. He was, however, glad she seemed ok... rather than her being sent flying backwards.
“Darth Vader, right?”
His worries disperse with the questions as a bright smile spread over his lips under the mask. “Yes, right.” He chuckled, shaking his head before pulling the helmet from his head to uncover a smiling face. “Only on the weekends though,” the vampire jested as he offered a hand for her to shake. “Usually, just Joshua.”

Running Through [Joshua||Isabelle]
@supernaturaldisasterx
“Put on your normal people costume.”
Or so had his progeny instructed. Perhaps because he’d arrived unkept and wearing an old pair of shorts and a polo---which he had bought in 1989. After forcing him to cut his hair and shave, Joshua had been given some cash and left to go buy clothes.
He was beyond amazed and excited that Star Wars, apparently, was still a thing! Olivia had said costume, so the ancient vampire gleefully outfitted himself in a full suit of Darth Vader...
A costume he would find difficult running in as Olivia chased him out her bar with poisonous wrath. Apparently, she did not mean costume in the literal sense of the word and only meant that he should look like a proper human and not an ancient, hermit...
Bumping into someone, he paused. Looking over his shoulder, he realized he was no longer being followed. “Sorry about that,” Joshua apologized.

“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈'𝐦 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 I’m the one who is going to judge now” she said leaning in to rest her arms on the counter, leaning slightly closer to him. Her gaze followed him as he walked away from the bar towards what she thought was her progeny’s office as he told him not a while ago.
The Nephilim mirrored the smile that appeared on the vampire’s face. “You better keep that promise” she warned playfully, the smile on her face could make anyone realise she was just teasing, she would never do anything to him. Her dark eyes were locked on him as he danced to the rhythm of the upbeat song. “At least one yeah” she said softly “You got good moves” she said playfully, I think I’ve seen people dancing that way a couple of times in New York… you were the one who created that incredible choreography?“ asked softly with a playfully smirk on her lips, just so shake her head softly, just to get her hair off her shoulder, to rest on her back before she started moving, but not in an exaggerated way as the vampire dancing in front of her.
|
Joshua could feel her watching him, not that it deter any of his dancing, but he couldn’t help being hyper aware of Isabelle. “New York? Been there a few times,” he admitted with a secretive smile and mischievous chuckle. Although there were a very rare, few instances in which Joshua was dangerous and New York had never hosted that side of the vampire. He had, however, harmed a few humans in defense of a certain blue-eyed werewolf... “You found me out,” he teased with a bright smile when the Nephilim accused him of choreographing his own dance.
Watching as the Nephilim began to dance, he calmed down a bit... Just a bit because he still felt awkward in a crowd, but wanted to seem as fun as he could be for Isabelle. “We should go ballroom dancing next. That’s a challenge,” he jested, although Joshua hadn’t been half bad. After millennia, a man built for war had finally learned to dance. Of course, being a loner meant less opportunities to show off the random knowledge you’ve picked up through out time. Who knew? She could even find it fun.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧-𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 to her cup once she finished answering him, it was something she knew the answer to but she didn’t have to think much, she had been asked that in the past. “What can I say sometimes there are things people are not expecting… it’s as interesting as finding out not all of us are monsters ready to kill supernatural creatures” she said looking at him with a raised eyebrow, she still remembered how he told her his progeny told him they were some kind of monsters.
For a second Isabelle thought he would just leave, mentally regretted telling him about the addiction, things would’ve been easier, yet she would be lying if she had said she was doing great instead of telling him she was scared of herself. As he turned around a soft smile appeared on her red lips. “You don’t have to thank me” assured the woman “I guess if I told you how was I really feeling… I can tell you another truth” she shrugged. The woman’s gaze met his as he told her he just wanted her to feel comfortable, making her smile at his words. Isabelle listened to the offer mirroring the smirk that a couple of seconds ago appeared on his lips “Sure” she nodded “I hope you don’t get tired after one song”
The Nephilim’s eyes were travelling around the place as she waited for Joshua to show up once more, she wasn’t going to admit it but she was looking forward the vampire to come back. As her eyes found him walking towards her the woman got up from the stall. “I thought you were going to leave me here” she said softly “That would’ve been a mistake, just so you know” she said softly.
|
Joshua couldn’t hold back a bashful smile and light chuckle when Isabelle reminded him of his original view of the Nephilim-kind. Then, he’d met her---who put her life on the line for him, killed in order to protect him, and managed to put a smile on his face at the same time. “I agree.”
As he excused himself and Isabelle hoped for more than one song, Joshua laughed. “I’m a vampire, not a mummy,” the vampire promised, bowing his head slightly before taking a few steps backwards towards Olivia’s office. Although his progeny had her hands full, she managed to fish some cash from her wallet to hand it over to Joshua so that he could go pay that sweet werewolf who’d delivered food to the hospital.
Returning to the main area of the bar, he found an upbeat song playing, his gaze pinpointing the Nephilim with ease. As he approached her, Isabelle turned to face him, causing a smile to spread across his lips. Her threat caused the Roman vampire to laugh. “I would never,” he promised, beginning to move to the rhythm of the music. Exaggerating playfully. “I promised a dance right?”

𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 “𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 a really bad bodyguard if I let someone touch you so… don’t worry about anyone putting a price on your head, I’ll stop them” she assured with a shrug of her shoulder.
At his question the Nephilim notice how she reacted, it was something she didn’t need to think about, it was like when mundanes said God when they were surprised. “We worship Raziel, and as such, we can’t be Muslim or Catholic or belong to other religions the way mundane humans can” she explained looking at the vampire leaned against the bar “I would be surprised you hadn’t worked as a priest” chuckled the raven-haired woman.
“I’m kind to everyone” she said dismissively “You think so… oh, you should tell people you’re not a teenager, just so they don’t get mistaken” she teased one more. “Bathhouses? That’s what you miss?” she laughed softly “You can go to a salon or something, I’m pretty sure you don’t have to worry about that” said Isabelle nodding her head.
The Nephilim straightened on her seat, her eyes locked on Joshua as her eyebrows furrowed. “Don’t leave” she stopped him “I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable, you’re good, I was just letting you know” explained the girl. “I’m not scared of you, I just don’t want my family to suffer as they did” she explained. “Please, don’t leave” repeated Isabelle “I don’t have to be scared or anything around you” admitted the raven-haired woman. “And I have to admit that I’m enjoying this” said Isabelle. “If you leave I hope it’s not because of me but because you really need to see your friend to that office”
|
The vampire listened closely as Isabelle spoke, taking in the new information about the Nephilim-kind with sincere interest. After all, understanding another seemed the secret ingredient to true diversity and coexistence. Of course, there was always the possibility that it was his ever growing curiosity that caused him to want to understand every th ing and everyone around him. "That's quite interesting," Joshua confessed. "And contradictory to what we learned in the monasteries throughout history."
Isabelle's teasing words caused the vampire to chuckle. "I'll be sure to do so," he promised without soft smile when the Nephilim instructed him to leave it clear that he was no teenager. Which made him wonder what Isabelle would've thought if she met his maker... "I will need to try this saloon," he said, mispronouncing it since he had misunderstood her. "Although, I did think saloons were akin to bars..."
Had Joshua's heart still beat, it would have skipped one with the way Isabelle stopped him. That was certainly something he wasn't used to. Even Olivia let him go whenever his nomadic lifestyle called to him. Finding himself rooted to the spot as Isabelle's gaze held his own hostage, the vampire nodded slowly.
"I'm not scared of you."
That wasn't a statement a vampire his age took lightly, especially having lived a human life that painted his kind as monsters... While living an eternity and some as a vampire, and still believing himself one. A soft smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Thank you," he said sincerely. "You have nothing to apologize for. I just want you to feel comfortable," Joshua explained himself. Pausing, his smile turned into a smirk. "How about you give me ten minutes?" He asked, leaning back in across the bar from her. "I'll check in with my progeny, you should be done with the drink... let me invite you to a dance---at least one song," Joshua offered.

Grocery stores were a nifty little invention. The evolution of markets... although Joshua did miss the older days... The trips to the markets with his best friends. "What about an apple?" He asked Alicia as they wandered the store. "I used to eat these like candy," the ancient vampire mused with childish enthusiasm before dropping the fruit and following after Alicia. While such mundane chores might have been considered tedious, Joshua actually found it a bit fun. Of course, with all of his knowledge, Joshua shouldve been a great assistant in getting the necessary ingredients with which to make some lovely, nutritious meals... Problem was, Joshua was as useful as a child. He was left amazed with the millions of new products, and picked whatever he thought sounded like it would taste good. "Cereal? Breakfast it's the most important meal... let's go get eggs and bacon!"
@theunveilingreblog
Ever since moving to Beacon Hills Alicia had been living mostly on takeout and college food. And she was getting tired of it. Which was why she found herself heading to the supermarket to stock up on actually food. It wasn’t until she got there that she realized that she forgot to bring her list with her. It resulted in her getting extra things that she really didn’t need. So she stood in the middle of the cereal aisle trying to figure what she wanted and what she should put back.

supernaturaldisasterx:
A smile appeared on the woman’s lips as Joshua talked “Yeah… it’s a pity that I don’t have much time” she letting a chuckle left her lips “I spend my free time escorting you home so…” the Nephilim winked playfully at the vampire.
As he started laughing Isabelle tilted her head to the side with her eyebrows slightly furrowed, as he told her he did when he was forty the woman rolled her eyes taking the cup to her lips “The angel” she said shaking her head “I think I’m not trusting you anymore” said Isabelle teasingly. “Well, yeat…. why did you think I would find that fact false, I don’t know how a fourteen-year-old looked back there” she excused herself.
The raven-haired woman took a deep breath as he talked. She wasn’t scared of being around vampires, for sure it wasn’t the first time she was around them after she was recovered, the only thing was she didn’t want to find herself being bitter hand losing everything she fought for. “Yeah, I think that sense of yours is right” she chuckled. As his eyes lowered to her hand the woman knitted her eyebrows slightly together “I’m not an alcoholic” she pointed out “You don’t have to get this drink from me” she assured pressing her lips together, it wasn’t as if the wine was vampire venom, she would be alright, she would have to be since it was what she told her brothers and everyone who really knew her.
|
Hearing the Nephilim claim she spend her free time with him, the vampire smiled bashfully. “Don’t say that too loud. A jealous admirer might put a price on my head,” Joshua teased, leaning against the bar.
The way Isabelle showed her surprised reminded Joshua of the times when the Holy Catholic Church sat at the head of an Empire. When greetings were forced into praises for a poor man who died on a wooden stick... at his own hands. Except that Joshua had never heard anyone truly praising an angel as she just had. “You practice the faith?” he asked curiously. “I was a priest myself once or twice,” the vampire shared.
He couldn’t help laughing as Isabelle teased him. “I think you’re just being too kind to me. It’s been a few centuries since I looked like a teenager.” Still, she was rather fun. And his jokes had yet to annoy her as they did his progeny. “Just like now... The difference was in the way of thinking and speaking. Of course, overall hygiene has highly improved as well... Although I do miss bathhouses...”
Leaning back from the bar and straightening as Isabelle seemed to tense, Joshua realized perhaps their friendship wasn’t meant to be. She wasn’t the only one in danger. The worst thing a vampire his age could do was turn a blind eye to such close a danger. Last thing Joshua needed was waking up in silver chains and bled because a friend couldn’t help her cravings. What a pity, he couldn’t help inwardly lamenting, watching as the Nephilim held her drink. “Well, I’ll take my leave then? Last thing I want it’s for you to feel uncomfortable when you’re here trying to have a drink and relax.” Joshua offered his hand, asking for her own. “I’ll be in the owner’s office...”

The raven-haired woman just smiled at his teasing words. “You’re more than welcome” she bowed her head jokingly. “I don’t have time but I guess the best thing I could do is working as bodyguardd” jested the Nephilim.
The woman was surprised about the fact he was turned when he was fourteen, she knew people grew older faster in the past but… she for sure wasn’t used. “Yeah, I can tell” she nodded her head softly. “I-I meant that I admired you survived to that after everything that happened to you” admitted Isabelle. The woman took the cup in her hands “Don’t worry” she shook her head “In that sense, I’m closer to a human rather than anything else” admitted the woman, no taking a sip from the cup. “I know you noticed my vitals…” she started letting out a sigh “It wasn’t because of the drink or you… it was just me remembering the past” admitted Isabelle “Let’s say I didn’t get drunk in a while… but I had a little addiction and I just remembered… I’m kinda scared of myself”
|
“Many would pay handsomely for a bodyguard as yourself.” Especially one that look as... beautiful, as Isabelle. There was a whole film genre for that kind of thing.
It was all he could do not to burst out laughing when Isabelle took his word to heart. She even seemed nervous she had believed she insulted him. Ultimately, Joshua did laugh. “I’m only joking,” he confessed almost childishly. “I was forty, the day of my human Death. More than any soldier could’ve asked for... then some.”
Joshua watched her drink with a smile. A smile that faded as the cup was lowered from her lips and she spoke. “I see...” It didn’t take a genius to understand what Isabelle really meant: she was either addicted to the blood or the bite. Either way, while Isabelle claimed she was afraid of herself... Joshua understood the subtle meaning and fear that would come with vampyr-kind itself. “Well... I’m hoping my Spidey senses aren’t wrong and you’re talking about vampires,” he commented casually as his gaze fell to the hand in which she held her drink. “Because if I just put wine in a recovering alcoholic’s hand... Well, you can see how my conscience would be a little more than troubled? And how I’d have to take that drink from you?”

Stiles’ eyes widened at that. “Two millenia?” That was a lot older than Stiles had imagined. It was like, all of a sudden, the weight of just what exactly it meant to be immortal, hit him with full force. “That’s a long-ass time.” Trying not to show his inner meltdown, he put on a grin and kept talking, “You must have a lot of stories from all the different times that you’ve lived through. I’ll be willing to listen if you ever want to share some stuff.”
|
Perhaps the concept of their longevity was not something to talk about with a newly born vampyr, especially one with as many ties as Stiles seemed to be. He didn’t seemed very distressed to Joshua, then again, the older vampire had just met him. Still, the grin on the younger vampire’s features caused Joshua to smile as his fears were dismissed. In his defense, his own progeny hadn’t had anyone when he’d made her. And when he’d been made... well, that had been a shitshow of it’s own. “Seems I’ve missed some of the most interesting occurrences while buried in my research... But I can tell you about the guy I watched make an Atari into an R2-D2.”

𝐊𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲’𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 together as she tried to form a coherent answer, she wasn’t still able to process the fact that the vampire wanted to give her a gem as payment. “I’m pretty sure that all that is way more than thirteen dollars” said once more “Well you keep getting those out of your pocket… I somehow imagined you collect them” she admitted a soft smile on her lips. “As I said it’s fine” she nodded “Don’t worry about it… it’s on the house” she shrugged, knowing she would have the money to her manager the morning after. “It’s only thirteen bucks, it’s just fine, I think he’ll be fine… and you and your co-worker win, you can smell it as you wait for her” she jested.
|
This young werewolf was very nice and sweet. She seemed somewhat amused that he had gemstones on him, but confused as to why he wanted to pay her in them. “Are you really sure? I don’t need money the same way others do,” he offered. It was true. A good thing about having lived as long as he had was the ability to hoard all kinds of things throughout time. Coins and notes of various worldwide currencies being one of those.
As she promised it was on the house and jested at how he could smell it until the food was picked up, Joshua chuckled, smiling happily. “Thank you so much ,you’re very nice,” he told her gratefully.

𝐀 𝐬𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 her lips as he described her a beautiful and dangerous, that was a pretty exact description, she would’ve said the same if someone had asked. “Why would you be?” she asked with a playfully smirk on her lips “I saved you, remember?” she asked looking at him “Why would you have to be worried?” she asked tilting her head a little to the side. As he accepted a smile tugged the corners of her lips, but it was somehow erased when he asked her to promise she wasn’t an assassin “I still don’t wanna play the monster so… you don’t have to worry about dying tonight” she said teasingly.
“Don’t be” she shook her head softly as he apologized “I understand it’s difficult making a drink when you’ve been a while without making one” assured Isabelle with a smile on her lips. The Nephilim listened to his words, her eyebrows furrowed slightly as he told her about being hidden in a cart with pigs. “Well all I can say is that you definitely don’t look your age” jested Isabelle. She didn’t remember being drunk in a while yet a knot appeared on her stomach as she thought about the hard time she went through back in New York… after Aldertree gave Isabelle that little can that contained vampire venom. “I don’t think I have a story as that one” admitted the Nephilim letting out a chuckle just to seem less nervous, she wasn’t nervous about being close to a vampire, she was just scared of herself.
|
As she reminded him she’d been on his side last time they’ve faced danger, Joshua couldn’t help smiling. “Thank you, oh Merciful Shadowhunter,” he teased when Isabelle nonchalantly declared she had no interest in playing monster, and deemed him safe. “Then, I would very much appreciate you escorting me home safely.”
“I’ve been told.” He chuckled after she’d said he did not look his age. “I was turned when I was fourteen, but Life was rough back then,” he jested, knowing he still looked not a day older---nor younger---than forty. If Joshua had to be honest, he’d been blessed to have made it four decades as a human in the days of yore.
He noted the shift in her heartbeat, but couldn’t tell what he’d said to upset her. Perhaps his age was beginning to intimidate her? Or the drink was wrong again? “It wasn’t a fun story, so there’s nothing to admire,” he added gently. “It was after my first taste of war... One of my best friends died... And the only medicine the veterans had for the nightmares was ale,” he shared. “However, I have read that wine has many beneficial properties for humans... Which, if you’d forgive me, I’d dared to add the Nephilim to such category.” He passed her the cup of wine.

𝐀 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 her lips as the man did. A smug smile appeared on her lips as he confessed she wasn’t wrong, just as if she was silently telling him she was never wrong. “You always seem to find me when you need company, would you need me escorting you to your place tonight, sir?” she asked with a smirk on her lips. “It may be difficult because they all seem to know how to try to make someone, who has done nothing, uncomfortable… but just forget about them” she advised the Nephilim.
“Yeah, I can see that” she smiled softly, her eyes traveling quickly around the place before she turned back to look at the vampire behind the bar. His reaction was just priceless. “Yeah, that would be better, I don’t think I would do a good job as a bodyguard being that drunk” admitted Isabelle as a chuckle left her red lips.
|
“Quite eerie,” he added when Isabelle noted their paths crossing. “Wouldn’t you say? A beautiful yet dangerous woman, not to mention you’re self-proclaimed affinity for danger and the fact I’ve already witnessed danger by your side.... Should I be worried?” he questioned teasingly, chuckling. “I would love to be escorted home, so long as you promise you’re no assassin.” Maybe he was watching too much anime, or his paranoia had gotten to him. Either way, if she was, they could get their fight out of the way, Joshua had no intention of dying just yet... He still had much to do.
He offered Isabelle an apologetic smile nonetheless as she confessed she would’ve rather have the wine. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled, moving to grab the first wine bottle he found on the top shelf and grabbing a glass. “I think I understand,” he added with a chuckle when she commented she’d make a lousy bodyguard drunk. “Admittedly, I’ve only been drunk once when I was human... But I was useless. The centurion in charge had to hide me in the cart with the pigs during our march back, I almost got scabies.” That was a horrible memory, but the only one he had to share about a similar experience. Hopefully, Isabelle had a dark humor and would find it amusing.
