Crown Prince Adrien and his Princess Consort Marinette

His eyes widened at the familiar warmth of her hand caressing his cheek. His princess consort had a nervous smile as she gauge his reaction to her touch. The familiarity of her touch came from their shared happier days when he came around to enjoy her company as Chat Noir; unbeknownst to his dear wife. Marinette had never been one to shy away from showing those closest to her some from of physical affection. 

And the affection she bestowed upon his alter-ego? Adrien was quite confident to think it was near reaching levels of intimacy only reserved for lovers. Of course, Marinette never allowed anything beyond a small kiss on the lips with Chat Noir and when she married the crown prince, she respectfully kept boundaries between she and Chat Noir even though he knew she wanted more. Despite her feelings for her husband, she was certainly very loyal and it made Adrien adore her more. 

But this? It was the first time he could remember since their marriage that Marinette was bold to reach for him, as Adrien. Months! He had waited months for her to make a move to extend an olive branch. If not as lovers than as best friends tied together in an unwanted arranged marriage he fulfilled because it was the last wish of the late Empress. 

Regardless of her making the first move (the gods only knew all of his attempts to befriend her first ended with her glaring murder his way or doing everything in her power to stay far away from him...obviously Marinette stuck close to her first impressions of people, not that he gave her a good reason to trust him...) his heart couldn’t help the rapid fluttering within his chest. Adrien was overcome with such elation he wanted to wrap Marinette up in a fierce hug on impulse but held himself back. He had to remember, he was Prince Adrien at this moment and not Chat Noir. Instead taking what small joy he could in rubbing his hands comfortingly against her wrist as she continued to touch his cheek. 

He knew, before their awkward wedding night, before the wedding ceremony and even before he knew he had been betrothed to marry some unknown girl he never met before. That fateful day that would begin his rendezvous with Marinette, moonlighting as Chat Noir...He had already fallen in love. He fell hard for a common girl so unlike himself, a free spirited young woman with grand dreams of being a seamstress for the common folk and finding true love with a guy within her own station to start a family and live a peaceful life.

Well, life in the palace wasn’t simple and while lascivious and had its moments of peace, it certainly wasn’t peaceful. He himself was beyond what Marinette had ever envisioned for her life.  And he couldn’t pretend that he didn’t catch the looks of frustrated disappointment whenever she glanced his way or that those glances hurt his feelings. 

But he was patient and he hoped with time, Marinette will start to see him as the man she could fall in love and start a family with.

Crazy Idea behind this picture...

Well I’m in Historical Chinese Drama Hell along with Miraculous Ladybug Hell and naturally I had to do fanart and my brain decided I needed to make a stupid AU fanfic that might never see the light of day. 

Basically, I want to do a story where Marinette falls in love with Chat Noir but is put in an arranged marriage to Prince Adrien, whom she’s met a few times (thinking he is a commoner), who is in love with Ladybug but also starts to fall in love with his reluctant wife. 

.....This fucking Love Square involving two people and mistaken identities give me ideas...

Yea I know it’s stupid...I mean I should still do it...but it’s still stupid...
