not my meme but you all do know about this right? It feels like it's getting buried right now and I feel like its proponents are trying to take advantage of that.
With the new guidelines taking effect regarding adult content, many of you have been asking if we’re on other platforms such as Twitter or Instagram, since you’re planning on leaving this space and/or foresee it becoming increasingly inhospitable to creators. As of right now, Tumblr is our only home on the web, but I’m definitely open to the possibility of expanding elsewhere in the future, as these rules seem almost tailor-made to negatively impact artistic expression and creativity. It’s disheartening to say the least, and many of our posts have already been flagged for being in violation, when these images don’t contain any nudity or anything that could be construed as sexual or “sensitive” content. The most we can do at the moment is to continue to work within the confines Tumblr has set, and hope that they revisit these blanket decisions.
We’ve been fortunate to receive considerable love and support from the artistic community here at Tumblr, and believe strongly that stifling artists and setting arbitrary limitations on what they can create and showcase is moving in the wrong direction. Do feel free to write to the blog or share any thoughts or recommendations you have in the comments.
To be an artist
is to be on a constant search
for answers
for ourselves
while unearthing the universe’s
lost words
nameless colors
and undiscovered music
from within ourselves
and share it
with the world
quietly hoping
that someone in the passing crowd
will find us
and hear our words
fall in love with our colors
and listen
to the music in our art
to show us
to tell us
there’s a place for us in this life
and that our art
has made a difference.
