IRL kill shelters are only kill shelters because they’re mandated by the government to take in literally all animals given to them, meaning their resources are way more limited than “no-kill” shelters. “No-kill” shelters still euthanize animals, as I tearfully found out as a 15 y/o volunteer at the SPCA-they get their ‘no-kill’ title because they don’t put down “animals that could become pets”, so sick, violent, and neonatal animals can be and often are put down in these shelters w/out losing their no-kill title. And that’s even with their ability to turn animals away when their resources are lacking. Nobody at a shelter likes killing animals, it literally just comes down to resource availability. That’s why volunteers like Jessica are so important. An added foster means more space for another animal, and less need for a time limit on an animal’s life.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that Jessica was willingly working at a shelter with a euthanization time limit policy?

Honestly with the way she’s portrayed in general, It kind of feels like the show is produced by liberal radical extremists who are trying to paint us progressives as hypocritical slacktivists like there aren’t plenty of liberal radical extremists who are hypocrites.

As a lazy low-key variant of a “keyboard warrior” myself, I’m really in no position to counter the slacktivist part though. (At least I am aware of my personal shortcomings)

The only thing that disappoints me a little about Aliana in terms of hair is that it's still very euro centric but it isn't that huge of a deal, I'd just like to see more black women in media that are considered powerful and beautiful with 4c hair and not being as close to assimilation as possible

Is 4c different from regular curly? Because Aliana's hair is curly
