Veer: So I saw Anushka and Virat’s wedding pictures aur mujhe ek khayal aaya
Veer: Jab humari shaadi hogi na, tab hum bhi aise kahin door—destination wedding karenge.
Veer: and no, it’s not because Virat is my idol or anything, but I just think we’d be able to keep it more private then.
Veer: Plus we can have like a massive reception after our month long honeymoon
Veer: (delayed) you’re probably wondering why the hell you fell in love with a man who plans all this, aren’t you?

i have not been avoiding the hospital. i’ve just been giving arjun uncle and the singhania family to bond.
And did you conveniently forget that you’ve always been a part of this family? And that none of us would mind if you came because God knows Papa thinks of you as his own..
Khair chodo, I can tell you’d rather be alone so I’ll just go back to my room.

it’s not a script singhania, it’s a play. believe it or not people actually LIKE to read books for leisure. besides you’re always at the hospital with arjun uncle, i have to amuse myself somehow.
Well--a play is still a script? But anyways--that’s why I stayed with you today, to spend some time while Ma and Pri hang out with Papa. He’s getting released tomorrow and he’s demanding you spend time with him since you’ve been avoiding the hospital. Yes, he’s noticed too.

veer no, i’m reading.
But...lately you’ve always got your nose in that script.
What’s it about anyways, especially if it’s THAT interesting.

i’m happy being the moneymaker between us two, i mean somebody has to make sure we’re financially stable while you take all these RISKS with your career.
oh totally, can you imagine that conversation ? ‘hi arjun uncle, i want your son to be shirtless as often as he can in this film because it turns me on.’ not exactly dinner table conversation
Diya, kuch risky nahi hai..tu ek baar try toh kar na?
Well...obviously you’re not going to have said it like that. Itna bhi bewakoof nahi hoon main. But since it’s so commercial--it’s how it goes now? That’s why in some of your other films--those guys were all walking around half naked around you.

haan haan, Mr. Serious Actor and whatnot
you know you won’t get far if you ran - i could outrun you any day.
Aye--you could do it too, you know this.
Are you--you’re seriously challenging me to a run? Right now? Because I’ve been having to train for this film like crazy--all these apparent bare bodied shots which now--I’m beginning to think you had him add...

TECHNICALITIES ! i mean if you went to jail for killing somebody, i thought the sentence was twenty years to life ?
why ? were you planning on a wine, dine, sixty nine and then run scam on me ?
Depends which country you’re in. Had to do my research for that last Kashyap film.
Hey! Not cool, aur waise bhi--I’ve done all that already no? So don’t think I’m running anywhere.

good, i don’t plan on being a widow so soon either. i mean me ? in white clothes ? i’d look like some white witch from some horror movie, rather than a graceful widow.
Uh..you wouldn’t be a widow if I went to jail, only if I die--which I mean c’mon, I could live it out in jail, maybe not well, but still.
However, being my widow means you’re planning on marrying me hmm?

acha i’m sorry, now c’mere.
arey baby, you’re not weak. you’re VERY strong, i mean these muscles aren’t just for show are they ? besides, the people in jail are evil. you don’t want to be evil right?
Pacify mat kar yaa, I know I’m pretty weak, I mean muscles aren’t--going to help when it comes down to it. It’s okay. I don’t plan on going to jail for a very very long time...actually, hopefully--NEVER.

or maybe i’d stabbed somebody and i was going to frame you. puh-lease, you’re softer than mom’s rasgullas.
Okay let’s not talk about stabbings--it’s freaking me out a little.
Hey, that’s so not--okay fine. I’m weak, we know.

honestly just be grateful it was halloween. varna, you stepping outside of a hospital looking like somebody had dropped a gallon of blood on you ? they would have put you behind bars.
… and as much as i love you, you’re too SOFT for jail veer singhania.
OR I could’ve been taken in for questioning. I mean main hospital mein se nikla tha--maybe I was the one who got stabbed?
Hey...I am not soft, I’m sure I could handle it..maybe?

i’ve already handled all that, anand has been pacified and he is reassured that you are in good hands while you recuperate from this family tragedy. i’ll give you your phone in the cab to the hospital. theek hai ?
we’re going, there’s a cab waiting downstairs.
You’re a lifesaver, because dealing with him--as much as I love him can be a nightmare sometimes. Yes, I just need to be updated on everything too.
Okay perfect, I promise I’ll be better today.

… tujhe kaise pata chala ? and i hid it somewhere you would never look.
i know babe, i know. i just think— and not just me, pallavi aunty also feels you need to take it easy. especially since you were the one who brought him to the … and your clothes were …
Main kaafi brilliant hoon--kabhi kabhi. But tell me na, I need to check my messages. Anand must’ve been trying to reach me. My manager doesn’t do well if he can’t actually manage me.
I am taking it easy, main kahaan kuch extreme kar raha hoon. I just want to see him..you know I need to. I promise we’ll come back whenever you think I need to.

come on yaa, don’t give me that sad face. we can go to to the hospital - i’m sure pri wants to see you. and then you can be first in line to see your papa.
and then HE can rap on you for your sadi hui shakal.
Pri hasn’t even called me to--actually wait, tune mera phone kahan chupaya hai?
He’s not going to do that. He knows how worried--I just, I need to see him with my own eyes you know? Mujhe pata hai tera bhi aisa hi hai..but you’re controlling it because of me.

OYE, ek thappad maaroongi na you won’t even have any teeth to ramble like me, let alone make fun of it.
and i know, pallavi aunty called me also. she said arjun uncle woke up, but they’re not letting more than one person in to see him yet. they say his heart is still too excitable.
I’m not making fun of you rambling. Tujhe toh pata hona chaiye how much I love it when you do.
Oh..so I’m guessing Ma and Pri will be with him then, I guess that’s..okay too.

diyamehras:
diya chuckles when he suggests using other forms of distractions and she allows her hand to rest at his side, fingers playing with the edge of his shirt. “ i wouldn’t mind, ” she murmurs, her voice a husky octave but she’s only PLAYING. she likes this too; she loves this aspect of their relationship. how they can be doing nothing and diya will still love him. diya will still love spending time with him.
there’s a relief in her chest on how it hasn’t changed much from when they were best friends. it’s a relief to know she may have gained veer as a lover, but she hasn’t lost him as a BEST FRIEND either. “ okay so, there was this cricketer who everybody loved. all the girls fawned over him. one day he meets this girl; she’s fiesty, sharp nose and always angry about something. she doesn’t recognize him and he’s surprised, maybe even a little annoyed - at first. ”
diya pauses then, watching the way veer’s eyes are starting to close but continues to speak. “ then he finds himself falling in love with this girl who doesn’t take him seriously AT ALL. its different from all the people who laud him, and even himself. because he takes himself too seriously sometimes. he tells her he loves her because he needs her to know. it doesn’t matter if she doesn’t love him back. but lucky for him she does … ”
Veer’s eyebrow raises when he hears her words and feels her fingers underneath his shirt until she retracts it, making him actually pout at her. No one would look at him right now and say that he’s gone through such a traumatic experience. But the truth was—if you had someone like Diya by your side who could ensure a smile on her face at even the toughest times—it wasn’t too difficult.
He listens as she speaks and tells him the story, his eyes closing every few seconds before he hears her words and smiles even though his eyes are closing. “Like you and me,” he murmurs before reaching in to press his lips against her forehead. “I’m lucky that you love me back too, still.” He whispers before letting his head rest against her shoulder.
Veer wants to tell her how he imagines spending the rest of his life with her, not only because she’s the love of his life, but also because she’s his BEST friend. The one woman who manages to make him feel the most intense of emotions. The one woman who manages to make him entirely CRAZY with one look. Veer Singhania was a complete goner when it came to Diya Mehra and he never even ONCE regretted it.
