"Christ, stop if you cry, I'll cry,"
She said with an exasperated look hugging her best friend again, this time was tighter than the last, before pulling away to speak again, blinking back the tears as best as she could
" 'Nd I chauffin' promised m'self I wouldn't cry, so stop, righ' now, let's get a drink yeh?" Vera linked arms and walked them back into the bar, easily she proccoured two cranberry vodka's then they found a table near the wall. Her eyes narrowed at the mention of the Mikaelson family, what on earth were they doing around this town?
She crossed her skeletal arms across her chest, the protective nature of her friend appeared in almost an instant. "You shouldn' be mixin' wiff 'ny of 'em, but 'specially not the oldest ones, Christ Hails, wot could they possibly 'ave of yours? Ya develop a deathwish or somethin?'" Vera fell silent, at her questions, unsure of how to answer any of them or if she even could. Her voice got caught, but something managed to escape as she managed to finally to find a cigarette and lit it up immediately.
"I fucked up...."

Vee flinched, slamming into the stranger's torso and cursed aloud to herself as she stepped away and straightened back up. Her cigarette had bent slightly but it was still intact, something that would have changed her oddly cheerful attitude in an instant.
"Eh, it's no problem mate, yoy all righ'? That's wot ya get for exercisin', it's more trouble than it's worth som'times, yeh?."
She teased having picked up his scent before their collison.
nothing blew off steam better than a run, that was something mason had learned when he was a teenager. a decade and a half later, he was still practicing the same old coping mechanisms that he was back then. at least that had stayed the same, still brought him the same relief it did then. mystic falls had changed drastically since he’d last seen it, around seven years ago when his last visit was. he could get used to this if he had to. he was taking in the sights while he ran when he knocked into someone completely unintentionally. “whoa!” he stopped, out of breath and now feeling incredibly clumsy. “sorry about that.”

Vera dropped her highlight and her jaw simultaneously, she had felt that it gone rather well considering that had been good friends for ages, "Tossa, there was a little smile, eh," She waved her hand dropping the situation, "Ya can't please ev'ryone," She rolled her eyes in a bit of envy, it wa so easy for Kyle, but perhaps this is why they got along so well. This all came back to how she had been raised, they were both alphas but Vera never wanted the title. She was prepared to run away from said titles because there were things she couldn't cope with. This was a secret that needed to be kept buried, nobody could find out she wasn't as tough as she looked.
It all sounded good to Vera, never feeling the need to pry into his life and she was honored in giving him a vacation if needed. "Well, ok, issa deal then? A few stops 'ere, then we're on a plane, all right?" "Yeh! Well, 'm not sure entirely, I know this is where she said she'd be but who knows with Hayley, eh? She could be long gone from this place." Vera shrugged, hoping her friend was okay, there was no more room for bad news. "No kiddin, it's posh as shite but roamin' with 'em!, I'd move 'ere if they had any decent bars. They have nothin' on Bourban street or the UK" She carefully raised her shot with a thinning arm, feeling lighter than air and not because of the drugs. It felt much safer now that she was in good company. Vera had this feeling of being watched by something, or a lot of something's, it was strange.
"Are ya still terrible at pool?" She inquired after downing the liquid easily, nudging him in a challenging way.

Vera bit her lip, she slightly resented that inability to be dishonest with the male. She instinctively gripped the end of one of her highlights and smirked a bit, dropping the act.
"Right, 'kay--thanks," The words fell away in the air, it was a strange feeling accepting a compliment for fact when you we're insecure.
"You're not lookin' too bad yaself," She intended to pay him back, Kyle was always complimenting her and she was always brushing it off, "The birds must flock for miles, yeh? Especially 'round, 'ere."
Her body straightened up at the request for him to come with her and she couldn't help but shiver a bit. She must have been high, why would he do that? Skinny pale fingers continued to twirl the white strand of hair aimlessley. "You'd do that? Nah King, you prolly got loads of shite 'ere, wit your pack an ev'rythin'--you don' actually wan' ter follow me all around Europe, do ya?--I'd love it, but only if it's truly all right wiff ya."
She affected a laugh, as he assisted with her fly away hairs and shook her head, "Neva, ya know you're the only one for me, babe," Vera said in a mock lovey-dovey sort of way, putting a hand to her heart, only half-joking due to the drugs. The older then followed him easily to the pub, quickly glancing back around the ground where they were to see if she had dropped anything. Amber eyes fell upon the name on the stone and her marijuana infused brain couldn't comprehend or form the right speech. Everyone had their secrets. She turned and kept walking with him feeling another chill come about and shivered visibly this time.
"But uh, maybe you could 'elp, her name is Hayley Marshall, ya seen 'er?" She continued the conversation pretending not to have seen anything.

Vera shyed a way a bit while he looked her over, the clothes she had donned were barely fitting her thin frame and she was probably paler than all hell. Her insides squirmed around as the word "Great" was produced, couldn't he see she was repulsive? Kyle would never have a laugh, he must have known by now that her weight was a fragile topic, so he must have meant it. She took in his features, they were pretty much unchanged except for some reason the male's eyes seemed different. Darker, perhaps? She couldn't put a finger on it.
"Oh...piss off King, flattery will not get you out of buying me a drink," She replied in a soft tone, brushing some of her brunette and white strands of hair out of her face while the wind continued to produce it's light breeze. He was doing that thing where he avoided the main question, but Vera didn't mind. She knew it was an alpha instinct to never allow weakness to be revealed and purposefully the woman had caught him off guard testing the waters for a reason. Her own curiosity was confirmed easily through his answer and her mind inocently shifted to the UK at the mention of London, "Strange enough that's where 'm headed after 'ere, got a few stops to make first." Vera bit at her lower lip a little looking up at him, as he made fun of her accent and respectfully rested her thin back against the headstone unknowing that it belonged to him. She couldn't tell him about what her pack had become, her parents dying, barely escaping to Mystic Falls with her life. Everyone had their secrets that they took with them to the grave. Vera couldn't bear talk about it, even though she respected Kyle a lot there was too much, so instead she fasted, hoping to disappear into nothing.
"I came to see someone before Europe.."
Her voice was growing lighter now. She looked down at her feet and wished for another spliff, but knew Kyle wouldn't be comfortable around the smoke. All her life it seemed she would be searching for some kind of crutch to bear with the things she was forced to witness. She was pathetic.

She pulled in her lips fighting a response when they parted, but something inside of her broke and soon her amber eyes sparkled a bit with tears. She couldn't help but think of her fallen pack ripped to pieces. Just the thought of it alone made Vera ache for booze. Blinking fast she searched for a cigarette, it would calm her nerves very much right now, "I--I'm on my way to the UK, thought I'd drop in 'nd say goodbye to ya, I remembered ya saying you were headed here." Her pale fingers trembled as they almost habitually lit up a grit, sending smoke into the night air.
"Yeh um, well---um, look at ya all grown up now and shite yeh? You still chasing leeches?" Vera teased scrunching up her thin nose at the other wolf.

She always strongly believed in the night time, her powers were always heightened, not matter the time of day but this time of day was the most vulnerable and it gave her the smallest adrenaline high. The female wolf stalked around at night simply to keep up with her racing thoughts and to forget that she was lonely. Never again would she be vulnerable to a vampire or any attack for that matter, so there wasn't much to worry about.
She wasn't sure what would happen if this particular vampire were to be an Original one, but there's no way she'd stick around long enough to find out. She came across a unfamiliar road and stopped to get her bearings, when a sweep of brunette curls caught her eye by a small corner bar.
Vera's eyes had to be playing tricks on her, she had been out every night and not once did the wolf ever come across Hayley. Her waif body stayed in the same place, feeling rooted for some reason, it waa Hayley, talking to some guy clear as day. Now her legs carried her in a almost trancelike run and her arms flew out to cling to her good friend.
"Hail! Fucking hell where have you been?"

"Yeh, cheers though," She responded taking the grit with a nod, as a lighter appeared from her sweater pocket. Vera breathed in the stream of carcinogens and exhaled after a delayed moment thankfully feeling the buzz in her blood. Nicotine was the food of champions. She looked back at the scenery in what she hoped to be a polite silence. The first cigarette of the day's effects made her head feel heavy. Vera rubbed her bony knuckles nervously, afraid to tread on this topic. She wasn't staying long, maybe until the wind changed, but she couldn't help but notice the somber air ever since she had arrived to Mystic Falls.
"Can I ask you what happened?"

The tiny female wolf took one last drag then threw away the spent filter with a squeal of excitement. "Calm down I just didn't believe it yeh? It's been ages hasn't it?" Vera giggled, a cloud was hanging in her brain making everything feel fuzzy. She hugged him almost immediately afterwards, practically leaping into his arms feeling a sense of relief in knowing she wasn't a complete stranger anymore. Her head only came up to his collar bone and she looked up at Kyle, a small look of disapproval reflecting back at him. She remembered a time when they drank themselves silly in New Orleans once, why was he here of all places? Everybody had secrets, everybody had a past, she would have felt terrible if he had been in mourning.
"Are you all right? Are we really meeting back up again in the Mystic Falls Cemetery?" Her tone was light hearted and she shivered against the breeze, Vera was worried about him all the time, along with all her other fellow wolves. Loss was hard, being alone was harder. She let him go and crossed both skeletal arms.
