I tried the vegan broccoli soup from café Cegin this week! It was so nice to have something hot in all of this gloomy weather. A huge thank you again to @eatdrinkbangor for the Yoyo vouchers for this meal! I have been constantly juggling commitments recently and it has been so hard to find time to cook or meal prep before uni! It has been really useful to have places to eat on campus (particularly ones with vegan options!) so I don’t have to worry throughout the week. I visited Cegin again this week so that I could grab lunch. As it was quiet, I ended taking a teams meeting and working for a couple of hours in the cafe which was a nice change of scenery from my desk and lecture halls. This time, I had the soup of the day, which was broccoli (and so warming and cozy on what was a very drizzly day). It was very substantial for a vegan soup, and really flavourful too. It came with warmed crunchy bread, which was also delicious. I wasn’t actually expecting the bread but it was a very welcome addition!
I had already had too many coffees that day so decided to try the raspberry heaven smoothie. I often overlook non-caffeinated drinks, but I’m so glad that I tried this! It is blended there and then so it tastes very refreshing and light. I think I will try the strawberry delight smoothie next time I visit (maybe alongside my beloved coffee). The team in Cegin were, as always, lovely and immediately knew the answer when I double checked that the soup was vegan, which is always reassuring! #eatdrinkbangor #veganuk #eatdrinkvegan https://www.instagram.com/p/CaIjzwfsOJz/?utm_medium=tumblr

Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to the lovely team at EatDrinkBangor. They provided Yoyo vouchers so that I could try out some vegan food at their outlets across the Bangor campus. I haven’t been on campus since 2018/19, and it is so great see all of the new vegan options since I have been back this year. I appreciate the effort that has been put into the vegan range, so often vegan products can seem like an afterthought, but EatDrinkBangor have made such an effort to create an interesting menu with so many choices!
I had a short break in between lectures last week, so a few friends and I went to Cegin to grab something to eat before our next class. I took the opportunity to try out the vegan Bombay aloo wrap from the ready to eat section. It has Bombay potatoes with sweet potato pakora, vegan mayo and spinach (and happens to be gluten free). Potatoes are my favourite food group, and this did not disappoint! We sat in the café, but this would also be a great option for on the go if you needed something quick and easy before a class. I was really impressed with this wrap and would definitely buy it again. I also had a cappuccino with soya milk (caffeine is essential at this point in the year)! It’s nice to have plant milk options in the on-campus café’s – they are such convenient places to meet friends and the coffee is really good! After the last couple of years, it’s so nice to be doing social things on-campus again, and something as simple as coffee with friends can make such a difference in a busy week! I am excited to try something from Cegin’s main food menu the next time I visit – there are a lot of great options.
