Kind of… hard to say considering he only really has the bossfight in terms of ACTUAL canon, but:

I really do love how he’s built up through weapon && item descriptions, then him acting as the GATEKEEPER of sorts to the DLC. If you can’t run the gauntlet past him, then the DLC will be a pain in the ass. I also like how he responds differently to you depending on what garb you’re wearing, that’s always fun.
