He'd been lucky enough to literally dodge bullets so far, but he was pretty sure this was what it would feel like if he had ever been shot. Sudden, and sharp, and burning- the pain makes him double over with a choked yelp.((Bless))

The call caught him off guard. He was too drowsy from alcohol to process the words for a long moment, but the second he did he had hung up and dialed for a cab. This was his fault.
