Hello, this is Taemin. While preparing for <Super One> album, from our first meeting, we had a strong intention to include a hopeful message and give a positive energy to our fans and listeners. We put a lot of thought into the lyrics and mood of each song track for this album. Most importantly, when we were preparing for our title track ‘One’… As it is a title track that combines ‘Monster’ and ‘Infinity’ but yet the colour of each song ‘One’ ‘Monster’ ‘Infinity’ were so different, we put a lot of consideration during song recording so that the different parts naturally flow together and are well-connected. I also remember we diligently prepared for the track by researching on our voice tones, exchanging opinions with the recording director “How about this?”, as well as having to make revisions and re-record. I hope that while listening to this album, it can be, however minimal, a source of strength for our fans. If people do gain strength after listening to this album, we would be very pleased and feel a sense of accomplishment. Please listen to it a lot!

Hello, this is Baekhyun. The most difficult part of preparing for our full-length album <Super One> is... As we all come from separate groups, our schedule frequently clashes and therefore we didn’t have sufficient time to practise. Despite having to complete our individual schedules at the same time, all of us put in our absolute focus during the few days we had. We feel very accomplished that we managed to wrap everything up within the short timeframe. As the members get to know each other better and better, we have a higher level of trust for one another. I believe that this is really aligned with the message we wanted to convey through <Super One>. The message in <Super One> is - with the strength we gain as one, let’s win and overcome this difficult time. I really treasure this album that much more as it feels like we’ve lived through such an experience to bring forth the message. I’m aware that this is a difficult time for everyone and you’re feeling frustrated. That’s why SuperM has prepared lots of new contents, new songs and new performances, and we hope it can be, however minimal, a source of strength for you. Lastly, I really miss you all and I must say ‘I always love you~ ❤’

Hello, this is SuperM Kai. Nice to meet you. The difficulty that SuperM faces is our lack in time and the difficulty in meeting with each other. As we each have our individual schedules, I feel that we had insufficient time to prepare and practice for this album. Because of this, us members gave a lot of thought on (utilising) our practice time and how to achieve a better quality. We discussed a lot among ourselves, we tried to free up as much time we could, individually we also practised a lot whenever we had time, that’s how we were able to overcome it. Although we faced difficulties, we brought out the strength within ourselves and we practised hard, that’s how we were able to overcome it. As the theme of our album is Hope, we wish that it can be a source of hope for our fans when they listen to our album. I want to point out that SuperM’s source of hope is everyone. Let’s always gain strength by thinking of each other and I hope everyone will be happy.

This album has a lot of genres and stories, and we worked on it with the mindset of hoping our listeners find encouragement and gain strength. A difficult or arduous moment while preparing for the album is – honestly, the times we are in. Though we are not able to meet everyone during such times, we still really wanted to convey our longing for everyone. We are really sorry that we could only reach out to everyone with our contents and music. Also, I think that there isn’t any difficult or arduous moment for us! It is only a difficult situation that we are in. All of us worked hard, put in a lot of effort and did our best. Hi this is Ten from SuperM and I want to talk about the hardships we’ve been through when we prepared our album <Super One>. I think the thing was we had to prepare a lot of music videos, like ‘100’, ‘Tiger Inside’ and ‘One’. Because in that short period of time, we had to go in and out of the role trying to remember the lyrics and all the choreography that went on during that one month. The funny thing is that we were dancing ‘One’ and suddenly one of the members just danced ‘Tiger Inside’, so I think that’s the thing that got us confused during that one month. So yeah, I think that’s the fun part about filming all three Music Videos in one month. It would be nice if you get to try it. I want to say to all my fans just to stay strong, stay healthy! I want to meet you guys soon, miss you so much. Until we meet again just stay strong! We are waiting for you.

This is Mark of SuperM. I think all of our members had some difficulties thinking about how we wanted to express the true meaning of the entire album while we were recording. And as much as it is our first full length album <Super One> from SuperM, we really wanted to convey that through each and every song, not just the title track. Each track from the playlist had its own vibe and carried its own story. As the people who perform it and as the people who sing it, we really try to concentrate on bringing that song alive, for each song, and I feel like that was the most fun but also the most challenging part of the entire process. I feel like, as much as we are performers and musicians, it’s always the best way to utilize our music art form to spread a message that we really believe in. Especially during the pandemic and through everything that’s going on, we really wanted to spread the message to tell listeners that we can really overcome everything or anything as long as we work together. We really wanted to put that and deliver that through our songs. I feel like that was a challenge that we were ready to take. Like I said, it’s our first full length album of SuperM, so I was very excited and I still am excited to let the whole world hear it. I just hope you guys are listening to it carefully, I hope you guys are excited to hear it as well.

Hi everyone, I am SuperM’s Lucas, Huang Xuxi. Personally, I feel that as a team, when someone gets injured during practice… For example, if someone is absent, what should we do, how do we finalize choreography formations? When SuperM prepared for ‘One’, the members would consider how other members can express themselves for a better (performance). We would help each other out and I believe this is exactly what team spirit is about. I wish to tell our fans that even though recently you are facing things that upset you, I hope that you can share your (troubles) with people around you, like your friends. To tell others, so that they can understand and also lend you a helping hand. Yeah, that’s all.

A different aura can be felt from the powerfulness of the pre-released song '100'. What resolution do you and the members have for this album’s activities?

We gathered after a long time, but during the time apart, our chatroom continued to stay active and we even monitored each other’s activities. Because of the difficult times we are in due to the coronavirus, I shared my thoughts with my members from the beginning – I would be satisfied if I could be even just a small source of strength for my fans. As there will be a lot of different contents released for this album <Super One>, I also often mention that it feels like a bundle gift.

A union team with members from 4 separate groups and the whole world as their stage. What does this challenge mean for Baekhyun personally?

We were able to show many new sides to fans in the US and all around the world, whom we previously were not able to meet easily. Also, having taken on the role as the leader, I feel there will be some changes to the way I seem. Given that each member has a distinct colour within their own teams, each of our colour mixes together in SuperM to bring forward a new possibility.

Your solo album <Delight> released this spring became a huge issue after  exceeding a million copies of albums sold. It has been a super long time since any solo artiste sold over a million copies.

I’m quite surprised as it was out of my wildest imagination. It is all thanks to the fans who showered it with lots of love. I seem to be a little more burdened with the need to do well. When the day I have to sing or be on stage approaches, I seem to get more nervous than before.

Even while you were on standby for today’s filming, you kept warming up your throat and practising your singing.

I always have the need to become perfect. Especially when I attend activities as a solo artiste, I have to be responsible from the start to end. To have to be responsible for one song, for 3 minutes and 50 seconds, it felt like an immense pressure for me at the beginning.  A situation where I smear EXO’s reputation because I wasn’t good enough… I couldn’t let that happen.

People call you the ‘Genius Idol’! On any stage or broadcast, your unique laidback vibe shines through.

It doesn’t take long for someone to understand another person. From some point onwards, I prefer others to see me for who I exactly am. That is why I’m the type to completely open myself up in the early stages (of getting to know others). Even when I appear on broadcasts, I behave comfortably with the mindset of “This is me”. Without spending too much thought on it, I feel that it’s totally fine just being myself.

You would have spent more time at home this year, are there any changes or happenings in your daily life?

I’ve begun to take interest in wines and tea ceremonies. I find it interesting when you understand the history behind wines, or the culture of tea while drinking. Stepping into this year, I wanted to hone and accumulate my inner knowledge and value / worth. To be honest, previously I would be confused about which fork to use at the restaurant. After I slowly began to learn these basic etiquettes, I could personally feel that my self-value / worth increased. Recently, I’ve also gained an interest in drawings, so I try to visit various art exhibitions.

Seems like this is a turning point where you broaden your preferences and interests.

When I look back upon my past, I had been running forward so breathlessly that I didn’t nourish myself with nutrients. Of course being on stage and meeting my fans in itself is a huge happiness, but I feel like I have neglected to look after myself. I want to bit by bit accumulate the virtues that a mature person should have.

Twenty-nine years old. What do you feel when you look back at your 20s?

Not suddenly rising nor falling, I want to become a singer who is consistently recognized. I wasn’t ambitious in wanting to go against the natural flow of things and get a jumpstart. I feel that my perspective has broadened after travelling around the world to meet my fans and getting to know various cultures. However, I spent too much time and energy on the things I ‘see’. I was constantly on edge.

What about this challenge – SuperM? It is another nerve-wrecking mission?

It makes me feel like a rookie all over again so I’m definitely nervous. However, I have faith in myself and because the members that I’m with are so good at what they do, we are able to lean on each other and provide stability for one another. I’m fully aware that being a SuperM member and performing / doing activities as SuperM is an experience that I will never go through again. I do think the time I’m spending is very valuable.

Exactly how far will SuperM go? Have you given any thought to this?

It would be great if we succeed, but most importantly I do not wish for us to lose our current selves. I hope that the members would not lose the brightest light that possess. No matter how dazzling the outside light is shining upon you, it is useless if there is no source of light within yourself.

Is there something you would like people to know about the upcoming album?

As I am a vocalist myself, I hope that people would look out for our voice colours. I listened to the recording by our members, and although each of us have such different voices, when our voices blend into one, the result is a very clean and clear sound. “This person has such a voice” or “When the voices of SuperM come together, it sounds like this”, I hope that people will realize these when they carefully listen to each of our parts.
