George Floyd
I feel that athletes should speak up about the George Floyd murder because athletes and very famous athletes have a very big platform that they could use to educate their fans or those who follow them. Though the murder of George Floyd has caused major chaos in America. As seen on many social media platforms we are seeing people looting, breaking into stores, police hurting people who are peacefully protesting. It is not fair because it all started with peaceful protesting, then police and the military started getting rough for no reason. As things got worse police were hitting, shooting, and tear-gassing those who are peacefully protesting. The outcome of the police doing that caused Americans to be very angry which has lead to riots, and looting. What also triggers others is when a certain group of people was protesting to open up the economy so they can get haircuts, they were fully armed but did not get treated the way the people of colour are protesting right now who are all unarmed. Right now we are seeing big celebrities doing so, using their platforms to spread awareness on the Gorge Floyd’s murder. Those celebrities are Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, Jamie Foxx, Halsey, Michael B. Jordan, Timothée Chalamet, Kendrick Sampson, Kehlani, and plenty more. Though I am sure there are some athletes protesting, I’m just not so sure who. Even though athletes may not attend protests but use their platform on social media to share ways to help such as petitions or donation links. If all athletes spoke on the protest it will make a difference because athletes are people who make an impact and influence on younger people’s lives just by them being an athlete. If they bring up awareness on the protest it will teach their following about the problem that is going on. Athletes who have such a big platform should most definitely use it in a time like this because you have millions of people who look up to you and athletes impact their lives in every way. Those who are silent at this time and they have a big platform should be ashamed. The whole meaning of the protest too is about black lives matter. The fact that these people have to fight for normal human rights is not okay which is why those who agree should come together as one and make things right. As seen Nike has made a change in its slogan to help spread awareness which was ‘ Don’t do it”, I feel as Nike is somewhat being genuine to show that they do notice what is going on in the world right now. The problem is is that it is not like they are helping in any way. They just changed their slogan but how does that benefit the protests in any way? They have not donated or anything more than that. In my opinion, I feel like they are doing it to find a way to get some free publicity. It is time for EVERYONE to come together as one and help our fellow humans fight against the government for what is right.

Write down 5 things you learned from this article
Exercising can be hard but has a positive effect long term
Cutting down certain foods or boosting nutrients can have benefits to how u feel
Changing what you eat can improve your mood.

In your opinion, what is the link between diet and mental health (nutritional psychiatry)? Write 200 words here and use ideas from the article if you wish.
In my opinion, I feel like your diet can affect who you are, how you act, feel, and talk. I say this because this is what you are putting in your body. Which is why people say it is always important what you put in your body. There are many testings that show that what you eat affects your body positively or negatively. If a person were to eat only junk rather than healthy foods a person can end up feeling weaker, lazy, unmotivated. Whereas eating healthy you are putting good into your body and it has more of a positive effect like waking happy, motivated, and stronger. I feel that nowadays we compare our slaves to all these celebrities as if they arent all plastic. This is why it is easy to think that we are ugly and fat because of the expectations celebrities have set for society. This is why it thinks people should get it into their heads that weer are all beautiful in different ways and once we do that’s that. That is why intaking healthy food can make you feel better about yourself because you are putting good nutrients into your body, and how you see your self. Many scientists have proven the fact that your diet can affect you. They did this by getting two different groups of people to change their diet.

NFL Two Proposes
I agree with the two NFL proposals because there are only two African- American coaches, just like it is said in the article; “Currently, there are just two African-American quarterbacks coaches — Pep Hamilton with the Los Angeles Chargers and Marcus Brady with the Indianapolis Colts.”. It is sad because this basically shows that big national events are run by the majority of white people and that there are only two non-white coaches. Although the NFL is trying to make a positive thing by making it more diverse, even if it means that they are going to hire non-white coaches’ advantages then that is what they are going to have to do. I think that the world is in the need to see more equality happening, and The NFL doing this will give it a good start because of how big of a platform it has and impact on people.
Secondly, I agree with the NFL proposals because as said in the article; “during the past decade and a half, when teams were pushed to interview minority candidates, under the Rooney Rule, but little more. Teams that exploited loopholes in the recruiting process were rarely penalized.” Even though they had attempted a different approach to creating more fairness and making it more diverse, it did not happen, and they have also found ways to avoid it, therefore giving more advantages to the teams that do follow along with it. It would not only help that team but to the non-whites who would want to couch in the future.

“Is society becoming too sensitive or too “soft”? Have we become a society of complainers who overreact too often?”
In our society today everyone is becoming more sensitive and soft. I say this because in the social media world there may be things certain people say which can lead people to switch up and make it into something more that would cause conflict. Having such little problems that turn into a big problem is a common thing that goes on in our world now because people are so sensitive. People need to understand that not everyone is gonna think you are a good person, or that you are good looking. Everyone has a different outlook on who you are. People just need to get it into their heads that you do not have to have everyone like who you are physically, and mentally. "I just don't think it's worth it to let a few comments from people who clearly don't respect women get to you.". Just as Nicole Zajac said, people can say what they want and it is your decision to choose if you are going to let it affect you in any offensive way. In our world today the generation is way different than it was in the past, now we have many things that people didn't have in the past also known as Social Media. People now love to bring up people's past, but those people do not realize that that is their past and it may not be who they are. For example Austin Mcbroom. He had tweeted offensive tweets back in 2012 in his younger ages but that was way back. This does not define who he is today, and that is something people need to understand. He is now a grown man with a family running a youtube channel and is successful. “Having two boys, I’m just really huge that regardless of who you are now, and what you meant then, I don’t think the messaging can be that it’s okay because you were young or you didn’t know.” Quoted by Jessica Mendoza. Jessica who had said this thinks that just because you’re young or did not know is not a valid excuse. In my opinion, I strongly disagree with what Jessica had said. Having conflicts is a part of life and is a part of learning lessons that would not occur in the future. Sometimes people have to go through certain situations to realize the wrong and right. Our society has most definitely become a society of complainers who overreact way too often. In all depends on how you have grown up and who you are surrounded with. The people who are babied and are not very independent tend to be the more sensitive people. Whereas the insensitive people grew up around people who are hard on them and push them to be better. Another reason is most of the world's population complaints often are teenagers because our parents who came from third world countries worked very hard to give children the amazingly simple life they have now. Teenagers now have it way easier than what their parents do which leads them to be lazy. People love to also overreact for the smallest reasons too just for attention.

Sport leagues considering resuming during the pandemic
Should sports leagues attempt to return to play or should all sports be canceled for the remainder of 2020? Provide 3 reasons in support of your answer. The reasons should be based upon ideas from the article and the video. Write 3 paragraphs of no fewer than 100 words for each reason. (3 paragraphs of at least 100 words each=300 words minimum).
I think sports should still be resumed but is done with specific precautions to make sure this action does not make the virus any worse than it already is. As of right now, the virus is starting to calm down and the world is starting to open up its economy. As of that, they should attempt to return the sports leagues. I say this because many businesses are losing a lot of money, right around 160 billion. The reasoning behind this is because of no games which means no ticket sells, no broadcasting, no sponsorship deals, and leads to no income for some. As for Europe, their biggest 5 leagues are losing about 5 billion, and stock values are decreasing. As it may sound selfish they should open it up and take precautions like checking temperatures before playing, testing for the virus beforehand before there are people in serious debt, and can not provide for themselves or their families.
They should resume all sports leagues because the last time they have stopped sports was during wartime around the 1900s which is almost 100 years ago. The coronavirus is just like any other flu but targets people who have underlying health problems or respiratory problems. There have been many coronaviruses’ that have occurred in the past like SARS or MERS and it is just as same. The difference now is society, the way people react to problems like these is different than how they reacted back then. People now overreact, create fake stories to scare people, and the government not taking proper actions. For example, Donald Trump brushed off the fact that the beginning of a pandemic was starting and he only cared about his impeachment. This simple mistake has the USA with the most amount of cases, just over one million, that is ⅓ of the cases worldwide ( 3.5 million cases).
Another reasoning why they should open up sports leagues is that businesses apart of it, and this means that it is some people’s income. The money they receive is how they pay to live. Having no income means they will not be able to pay bills, the ability to buy overpriced PPE, buying groceries, taking care of children/family financially. Loss of income can cause people to suffer. Even if the government is lowering mortgage rates, and lowering rates like water bills, hydro bills, so it can help those who are struggling but it is not that much of a help. Though in Canada and the US they have emergency benefits which can help for those with smaller families but for big families it is unfair.
Do athletes deserve special consideration? If sports leagues are going to resume play, then the players will have to be tested continuously. Is this justifiable when tests are not available to most people including those who are working in essential service? For example, grocery store employees are not regularly tested nor are bus drivers. 200 words
Although I did say they should resume sports leagues, they should not receive special consideration just for people’s entertainment. The sports industry should be the last thing people should worry about in this pandemic, there are people who are dying and these selfish people think having sporting entertainment will make it better? Absolutely not. Using up tests just for athletes to play for people’s enjoyment shall not have special consideration because there are people who need it more. If they want to resume sports league they should be the last ones getting tested because it is selfish of them to put others at risk, like their families, just for fan’s enjoyment. Sports is an option, and a choice, not a necessity, or an essential activity. Just like social distancing is an essential activity, it is not an option and it is something people should realize they do not have a choice to do so. It is unfair to those who are working during this time. Just because those athletes are famous does not mean they have a special right to constantly be tested before every game. Those who are working now come in contact with random people and putting themselves so as their families at risk. Just as if the customer comes in contact with the employee, they can put themselves and their family at risk too. I believe that people who are working during this time should constantly be tested, and not these selfish athletes.
Is it necessary for sports to resume for the rest of 2020? Are sports an “essential” service? 100 words
No, it is not necessary to resume sports for the rest of 2020 unless things are progressively starting to get back to normal, if not sports should not resume. As said sports are NOT an essential service it is considered entertainment just like any other TV show or movie. It is unfair because not everyone watches sports, it is just a selective group of people who do. Having to resume sports it is just like opening up the country even if the pandemic is still going on. There are two sides to this conflict, those who think they should because they are a fan, and those who think they should not resume it because they do not watch sports. I say this because resuming sports only benefits the people who enjoy watching sports, and is unfair to those who do not watch. In conclusion, they should not resume sports for the rest of 2020, it is better to be safe than sorry in the future. Therefore move all sports to 2021.

CONCUSSIONS ACTIVITY 2
Create a list of concussion symptoms/effects. List as many as you can find in the video. A numbered list is fine to start.
1. Symptoms
2. Knock on the head
3. Headache
4.Confusion
5.Blurry vision
6. Sickness
7.Feeling weird
8.If the brain is moved and hits the inside of the skull it could get bruised
9. being in a fog
10.Hard to concentrate
11. Being sad
12.Having lots of anxiety
13.Worrying more
14.Trouble sleeping
15.Sensitive to lights and noise
16.May not be able to remember the accident
17.When symptoms are gone you could return to normal activities
Create a list of Rachel's symptoms/problems dealing with her concussions. In the article, she lists a number of symptoms and problems she experienced as a result of her head injuries. A numbered list is fine here as well.
-She was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury
-While she was at a college party she played tug a war and went soaring into a glass table, though she didn't feel any pain, but she was bleeding and there was glass in her head
-After that night she had a headache, had trouble concentrating, keeping my balance, and functioning
-She has gone skiing and while she was snowboarding while wearing a helmet she fell and hit the back of her head, she felt nauseous and had an intense headache
-She felt so dizzy, like she was going to pass out and vomit at the same time
-While riding a horse, it bucked her off and she went flying into the air and hit the back of her head again.
-She had internal bleeding and hemorrhages
-Few months after that bad concussion she had a lingering migraine, feeling really awful dizziness, and this awful inability to concentrate
-After she was diagnosed with traumatic brian injury she would have chronic, terrible neck pain -- a result of fluid build-up from the concussions
-She has to constantly go to therapy and working with a physical therapist to make her muscle losser
https://www.everydayhealth.com/concussion/symptoms/nfl-athletes-who-cte/
Similarities
-Most concussions have similar symptoms like confusion, memory loss,
-Both Frank Gifford and Rachel suffered from a brain injury
-Headaches
-Sleeping in and having trouble sleeping
Now it's time to do some thinking and writing. Write 200 words on the following: Why are concussions so dangerous and why should we be taking them more seriously.
Concussions are a type of brain injury that could be fatal, they occur when a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. Having a concussion can involve symptoms like headaches, confusion, blurry vision, sickness, hard to concentrate, having lots of anxiety, trouble sleeping, sensitive to lights and noise. Even having a mild concussion should not be taken lightly, it should be taken seriously and should require you to go to the hospital. People who constantly get concussions is a long term problem that occurs and it could develop into a disease called Chronic traumatic encephalopathy which makes the brain break down and it can lead to memory loss, depression and in more cases dementia. Concussions should be taken seriously because after having multiple severe concussions it is like living a new life that is hard to enjoy because you have to go through therapy, going through scannings, seeing doctors constantly which is something no 30 year old would want to live with. It is dangerous because you can never fully heal from it, once you are diagnosed with it you can not turn back.

CONCUSSIONS
DAVID BOOGAARD
What I learned from watching the documentary about Derek Boogaard is that there is more to sports than just playing it. Theres addictions, concussions, injuries, fights, hardcore competition, and anger issues. Traumatic experiences can have an affect on an individual's overall future to learn the basics of severe injuries. It really opened my eyes and insight of viewing not only the hockey lifestyle, but the world. What really caught my attention was when Boogaard had an addiction but tried to deny it and cover it up. Having an Addiction is something that happens to many athletes, they use drugs to help cope with stress or mental illness’ and hope to get rid of it. The thing is drugs are a temporary feeling, that is what causes an addiction because the feeling comes and goes which results athletes to keep those drugs. It really shocked me because he did have people around him telling him that you have an addiction and he should have listened and gotten help, but he decided otherwise. When he was sent to rehab he believed he did not have a problem and covered it up by saying it was an injury leave. His addiction was never resolved, which was one of the reasons he had passed. In sports there is rough playing, and shoving but for Boogaard it was more than that, it was always hardcore violence. Fighting players from the other team out of rage caused Boogaard to have severe concussions. As one said, he would fight at least 5 times a week, He had gotten surgery from breaking his nose and shoulders. What encouraged this kind of behaviour was the addiction to painkillers and the crowd, the fans. He had dented a fist into another player's cheek causing him to get 4 metal plates to reconstruct his face, for what reason to please the crowd? To relieve his anger? After he was given the nickname “ The boogieman” he was known for his outrageous fights. The thing with concussions is the more you get, the worse you will physically, mentally, and emotionally get. After doing some research I found that 10% of all contact sport athletes sustain concussions yearly. It affected him ong term and has its side effects to it, and all his concussions lead him to suffer from brain condition, which I also found that it causes the most deaths. Therefore i dont think there should be fighting because it does not resolve anything, it leads to worse things. In my opinion I feel like the people at fault are his coaches, the NHL, and his family. I say this because they all knew what his condition was but they didn't do enough for him to stay alive. However, According to a survey, 60 percent of those with concussions reported playing with symptoms and 40 percent reported that their coach was not aware of their concussion. But in this situation they were aware. In conclusion, Derek Boogaard passed away in his sleep from intaking oxycodone and alcohol overwhelmed his system. Researchers found that he had CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), and found that if he were to hit his 40’s he would have a severe case of dementia.

Do Icons exist today?
An icon is someone who makes an impact on society and inspires others. In today's society, there are many athletes we admire but should we be admiring them as much as we do? If you were to admire someone there should be a reason why other than them being a good person and an athlete. Serena Williams is an athlete who inspired many women to serve their own dominance and equality but she is not an icon because she has not done/ sacrificed anything other than inspiring people. Whereas Lebron James and Colin Kapernick are icons, they inspire those but they take the inspiration into action and create something with it. There are icons that exist in this world, but people can mistake someone who inspires them more than an icon just like how Serena Williams is different than Lebron and Colin.
Colin Kaepernick is an icon who had given up his career to protest something he was against. Before this protest, he lost his job, then had missed the last few months of the season due to a shoulder injury. As time went on and he had healed, Kaepernick was then given the opportunity to play. He protested by sitting during the national anthem at the Packers versus’ the 49ers game on September 1,2016. On the following day his friend, Eric Reid, took a knee beside him during the anthem to show that it is a serious problem and so if more people had gone along with Kaepernick’s protest it will make more people realize. The meaning of his protest was to raise awareness of police brutality. In 2016, police brutality had been getting more recognition. It was violent to the point where there were many cases of people of colour, especially African-Americans, who were killed without a valid reason. Since Kaepernick is a person of colour, this issue had affected him. NFL Media reporter, Steve Wyche, wrote an article on this issue and quoted Kaepernicks’ words, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” He wanted to make a statement that the country that he plays for and represents has been mistreating people of colour. Our world today is not perfect and every day this topic is getting worse. Kaepernick was strongly moved by this issue. He wanted to do something to ensure that justice will be served. Kaepernick does not want to stand up for a country that kills people of colour without a valid reason. As an American citizen as well as a known NFL player, he felt that he had the right platform to express his views on police brutality. This allows him to get more people in his country to realize what is going on. Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, had said, “I don’t necessarily agree with what he’s doing, but I support our players when they want to see a change in society, and we don’t live in a perfect society.”. What Roger had said, he shows that he understands and agrees that Kaepernick is doing this for a good reason. Kaepernick knows that in situations like this, his career can be jeopardized, which in the end it was. Once he left his team, it was hard for Kaepernick to be able to join another team after what he had done. In the end, it was worth it as he did it for a good reason. Although he could have handled this situation better, in his perspective, he was aware of what he was doing. He understands that not a lot of people will agree with his actions. Kaepernick did what had to be done and that ended up with him sacrificing his football career. He said, "I am not looking for approval. I have to stand up for people that are oppressed. ... If they take football away, my endorsements from me, I know that I stood up for what is right." Kapernick did not care about who will judge him or those who would criticize him. He wanted to get an important point across. As Kaepernick said, he has to stand up for the people being oppressed because if no one does anything about it, how will it get more recognition? It will become worse if no one speaks or takes action on it. He made a movement by sitting which led to him losing his career. Kaepernick finds that police brutality is something he should stand up for. He had known the consequences of losing his job, but he knew he did it to bring awareness against police brutality, and the oppression of people of colour in America.
Lebron James is also an icon just like Colin Kaepernick, although Lebron did not do any type of protest like Colin, he did build a school in his hometown Akron Ohio, for at-risk students because he knew what it is like. Lebron wanted to be known for more than just a famous basketball player, in his past he knew what it is like to not have a lot of money and he knew what it was like to not be as privileged as others and he did not want any other kids to feel this way so he did something about it.In this school, they have an eight hour day, a “support circle” for students after lunch, GED courses and job placements for parents. He made sure all of those were available for the students and their families to help kids overcome what he faced as a low-income student. In a New York Times article about Lebron’s schools opening it said, “Mr. James’s foundation has provided about $600,000 in financial support for additional teaching staff to help reduce class sizes, and an additional hour of after-school programming and tutors.” because of Lebrons foundation he was about to be known not only as a famous basketball player but as somebody who helps children finish education through the school he funded. He used the money he was earning and put it towards something that would help others in a positive way rather than spending it on items that are not as important, he sacrificed something he had to put it towards something that meant a lot to him. Not only did he put in tons of money into the school to create extra help, he also made sure that the kids would not be only secure for elementary but for when they are finished and they need to go into college. In an article about the school and his plan with the students who go there they said, “According to a spokesperson for the foundation, the I Promise program currently has 1,300 kids. When James and his foundation announced the program in 2015, they said they could give scholarships to as many as 2,300 students.” This school does not only benefit them while they are in the school but they also have benefits when they leave the school. James confirmed that to be able to qualify for the scholarship you would need a 3.0 GPA and you would need to hit specific high standards, as you can see he is not just giving out scholarships he is making sure they work for it and they deserve it. Lebron is very passionate about making sure at-risk kids have something to look forward too and have an education so he makes sure of that by building a school and having opportunities for them after school with his own earnings.
Serena Williams is known as the greatest female tennis player of all time. Serena is an icon but not the type of icon that Lebron and Colin are, she is an icon that inspires people especially young girls and boys to get involved in a sport they would have never thought of playing, as a coloured female athlete she goes through sexism and racism. On a website called themodist.com that sell women accessories, clothing, and much more they also talk about some inspiring women, when they did a little article about Serena Williams they said this, “For the US Open, she wore a custom-designed one-shouldered tutu dress by Virgil Abloh in collaboration with Nike.” She wore a custom-designed-one-shouldered tutu dress because the french open announced they would not allow her to wear her black panther inspired catsuit. Serena is faced with many times when people told her she was not allowed to wear specific types of clothing because she is a female, but as you can see it does not stop her from playing what she loves, which inspires other young girls and boys that look up to her to not let people who tell you, you can not do something stop you. Serena also has a business called serenaventures.com and on that website it talks about who they are, their team, and their investments, it also has contact information if you would want to get in touch with them. In the section about who they are she said in the first sentence, “In 2014, I launched Serena Ventures with the mission of giving opportunities to founders across an array of industries.” Serena and her company invests in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunities because she knows what it is like to have people supporting you especially if you are someone of colour. She remembers as a little girl when her father would tell her when you hear gunshots, get low and she uses this business as a way to help support people of colour doing big and great things in life by investing in them because she has had many experiences of what it is like to be a person of colour living in this world with many people telling you, you could not do something or you would not make it up there because you are not a person with a white complexion. Although Serena did not protest like Colin did or open a school with many opportunities for students like Lebron did she has still done some things in her life that would make people see her as a great inspiration or in some ways an icon as well.
There are many icons that exist in our world today. Some of the biggest athletes have a huge impact on our world today, they can influence others with their actions or influence others with their words. Colin Kapernick is a great example of an icon, he jeopardized his career to fight for Police brutality, and America oppressing people of colour. He sat during the national anthem to fight against it, which made him sacrifice his job. Lebron James is an icon just like Colin Kapernick, though he did not sacrifice anything. He built a school to help kids in his state who are struggling or in need of help. The school provided every necessity needed for school. They were provided with uniform, food, and school supplies. Lastly Serena williams is not an icon because she does not influence people with her actions but with her words. She has made a verbal impact to many women to stand up for themselves and become more dominant and serve equality. She did that by not letting people tell her what to do and what to wear, and to stand up to racism. These 3 people are some of the biggest athletes in our world today who made a big impact in today's society with their actions or words.

Should the Olympics be canceled because of the carona virus? If no state what they could do in order to make this problem better.
I think that the Olympics in Toyko should be canceled because of the Coronavirus. The virus has symptoms just like the flu and it is somewhat easy to catch on but not as easy as the flu. Catching the coronavirus is not dangerous until you get pneumonia then it would be severe. Even though Toyoko has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in which people would understand that they will lose a lot of money, and those who purchased tickets will lose their money but at the end of the day they should care about people’s health and safety before money. As days go by there are more people catching the sickness, the death count is rising insanely, it has come to the point where the coronavirus is bigger than 2003’s SARS. The Olympics is pretty far away and if there is no cure or anything to help this virus it will get worse, which then when the time comes to the day of the Olympics it will be outrageous. In conclusion, they should cancel the Olympics until the Coronavirus is clear and there is a cure or they should delay the Olympics and do it in 2021.

500 words, 2 different ways Muhammed Ali is an icon
Muhammed Ali, also known as Cassius Clay the heavyweight champion. He is one of the greatest boxers, and one of the greatest icons in and out of the ring who will be remembered for many years. He was never the give up type person, as he was getting old he was told by his doctor to stop boxing because he was starting to show signs of parkinsons, but he didn't want to, so he kept fighting. Everyone knew who he was, and his impact on the Americans and the Global culture. Muhammed Ali was the most recognizable and most admired athlete in the world. In ways he showed he was an icon was he always stood up for himself and for his people. As years went by and Muhammed got older and he realized more about politics and what was going around him he started realize how his people were being treated so he had said that boxing isn't as important as it was before, and that nothing he likes has freedom and all he wants his freedom for not only him but the blacks in america. With that in the 1960’s when segregation was going on the blacks would be treated differently, for example going to a gas station meant that the whites can go through the front of the store and the blacks would have to enter through the back. After these times he introduced “black power” to white America, throughout years and months after he had changed his name he transformed from being just a boxing champion to speaking out against injustice and racial inequality. Another reason Muhammed is an icon was when it came to a point in the 1960’s where America was drafting young American men to fight in the war since he was eligible to serve in the military. The boxing champ made headlines around the world when he refused his induction into the U.S. armed force. Muhammed's decision to speak out against it was hugely controversial because as he says “ I got nothing against them Vietcong, how can I shoot these poor people ''. When one denies getting drafted to the war one is taken to jail, which is what Muhammed decided to choose instead of killing innocent people. Though the consequences from this, was his heavyweight title was taken away from him, he was sentenced in prison for 5 years , was effectively banned from boxing for the next three and a half years, and lost his boxing license which meant he wasn't allowed to box in any other state. All these consequences cost him millions which lead him to be in debt. He is an icon for this reason because he didn't want bad things to happen to others so he would rather it happen to himself. He didn't only care for himself or his race, he cared about the innocent people of Vietnam that would be killed if he went to war, which all Muhammed wanted was equality and peace with everyone. In conclusion Muhammed has many different reasons why he is an icon but in my opinion these are the reasons why I see Muhammed Ali as an icon.

How are sports a transformative experience?
Sports can be a transformative experience like shown in this Invictus is that sports can change the way people interact with each other. It changes how people interact because before Mandela was president the whites and blacks were seperated so they each had their own rugby team so then when Mandela became the president he made the two teams combine which made all the people of Africa come together, which was also Mandela's promise when he became president. Mandela wanted the team to win the world cup, and they did and that's when all of Africa came together as one because of a sport which shows how sports can be a transformative experience. Another way that sports can be a transformative experience is, it has the ability to change people and society. When Mandela made the two teams combine it created the teams to come together and overcome segregation slowly because it wasn't easy for everyone to agree and get over with. Coming together as one meant that the two races will fix their problems. It changed the way the whites perceived the blacks, instead of judging them for their colour when they come together they realize that they shouldn't be judging them based on their race, which is what Rugby did.

Something I learned: explain in a short paragraph of approximately 200 words
One thing that i learned during this film is the term “Apartheid”. This term is a word i have neve heard of, the meaning behind apartheid is the separation bewteen the black people and the white people of Africa. The way these two races were treated was completely different. The black people lived in shacks with no good water, shelter, and electricity. While the white people live in finish built houses with good water, shelter, and electricity. During this time when Nelson Mandela had become the president many people wanted him dead, especially the whites. Wherever Mandela went out or stepped a foot outside he would always have to have bodyguards on him because since many wanted him dead, many wanted him assassinated. While Nelson was in prison when he was out all Nelson wanted was peace between the blacks and white, which meant when he became president he promised to do. Before he became president there were two teams that represented Africa,a team representing the whites, and a team representing the blacks. After he became president he had said that he wants everyone to come together and not be in a aparthied so then the teams combined and created one team to represent Africa.
