Hey!! I’ve resurrected from the dead!! To tell you that if there ever was a traitor, the possibility of it being Kitay is far greater than the possibility of it being Venka. :)). Okay goodbye.

// angst as usual for this series
What’s heartbreaking about Rin is that it’s so hard for me to imagine her in a world without war. If she were born during a peaceful period, in Speer alongside her kin, she may as well have been a different person.
I also doubt she would’ve met Kitay and Nezha if they lived in a peaceful time. War is what brought them together, and it’s what tore them apart.

i’m still thinking about the poppy war, and so i just gotta say. it was such a fucking power move for kuang to create rin and nezah, give them all this sexual tension, and not have them fuck even once. not even a hate fuck. nothing!
power. move.

the clear cut parallels between rin, nezha, and kitay and the trifecta never fail to make me sob. like speer and mugen, the second poppy war and the third poppy war. riga loving and betraying daji, nezha loving and betraying rin. the friendship between jiang and daji, the friendship between rin and kitay. both groups leaving only one of them to rule. their shared complicated love and loyalty and hurt between each other. jiang and rins final moments of clarity. they followed right into their predecessors footsteps and didn’t even know it. both groups were supposed to be unstoppable forces but ended up being torn apart by each other.

“Someone walked inside and paused in front of her. “You’re insane,” said Venka. Rin glared up at her, blood dripping from her mouth, and smiled.”
— The Poppy War
Something about feral, crazy Rin is just everything. It’s borne of desperation — the decision — but there’s something appealing her decision to go through with the procedure, of making such a crazy decision. Whether or not for the best, I love her want for power. I love how brutally honest she is with herself, while maintaining a sense of naïveté. I freaking love Rin.
