On the other hand I genuinely think my friends are so so beautiful, not just because of their face but because their essence sings out from their skin and I can feel their beauty all the time. I know this because I love them, and I know they love me and therefore likely think the same thing of me. However I'm a horrid selfish arrogant person and in the end the opinion I value the most highly is my own, and when I think I am ugly there is no one who can convince me otherwise. So at any rate I never say these things out loud because that would be pathetic and I KNOW they will tell me I'm beautiful and extol upon my virtues but I also know that I will think they are lying to me.
And it bothers me too, that I place so much value on a temporary trait like physical beauty; in theory I preach body neutrality and I dislike that beauty holds so much sway on society and I want people to be treated the same no matter how they look. I disavow beauty as a trait by which to measure value, but the social conditioning is stronger than I am. Because no matter how much I believe and say those things, I still want to be beautiful.
