A pang like a strike; his words stung by their truth, unable to look at him for several moments. She couldn't blame him for saying it, never, ever could've blamed him for how he felt. Rapture had become a hellscape of rust and rot, a mass grave wailing and groaning beneath the crush of the dark sea. Death was everywhere, the smell of it, sight of it, overwhelming the senses, decaying, withered flesh, haunting each dark corner, the neon-drenched hallways splattered with dark blood. It was enough to drive one mad, inspiring RAGE, GRIEF, SORROW, a whirlwind of horror inside the soul, eating what shred of goodness might remain.

She wouldn't let it consume her. No, this horror would not swallow her up and destroy what was left, crush her hopeful spirit beneath the heavy sea. Not another person lost to the monster that was the RAPTURE NIGHTMARE. She wouldn't let it happen to him, either. Eyes turned, softened yet still pained, a desperate want to convey tenderness and understanding, wet with budding tears.
