A Hero: I want to go home.

Coralin: Okay, you have an hour to pack up anything you want to bring with you. Meet me at the summoning ruins. Bye.

Coralin is actually surprisingly neutral about summoning the Heroes from their worlds into this one– It’s not like she can control who she calls upon, and with no foreseeable way home for the time being, this is her job. This is how she makes her living in Zenith– Producing Heroes for the Order and acting as tactician, alongside any other duties a high-ranking position might have. 

That, and the vast majority of the Heroes summoned are adults. She feels a little bad for taking them from their already busy lives, yes, but they’re still adults for the most part. She does not have the time to chase every other Hero down at every moment of the day asking if they’re really okay with being here or whether they’d like to leave. She asks upon summoning them, and that is that. If they have a change of heart, it is on the Hero to come seek her out so that she can send them home. Otherwise, they’re stuck here and will simply have to deal.

The younger Heroes like Kana, y!Tiki, or Fae, however, she checks in on– After all, they’re children or at least have the mentality of one. 

Any Heroes causing major problems, however, will be given a three-strike system. Three strikes means your contract is rendered void and you are forcibly sent home for being a disturbance. She has no patience for troublemakers, already stressed enough about the war effort as it is. The main exceptions to the three strike rule are Valter ( namely because he’s quite literally threatened to hunt her down and kill her if she dismisses him and she’s afraid of that ), and both Grimas– Mainly, so Grima can’t go and destroy everything the second they’re free of their contracts now that they know of other worlds.

We don’t care who you are or were at home- we base our respect for you off of what we’ve seen you do here.” He turned away when she called him a little brother. Dangit, she was going to tear him up. “…I don’t deserve that kind of affection though. Compared to you and your champions, I’m the useless one here.”

A pause- that was too much. “…look, would- would ‘summoner’ be acceptable in the adjustment period? It’s less charged a title.”

“Summoner’s fine, I guess, but-- Oh, no you don’t. No putting yourself down like that!”

   Are you going to disregard any of the praise he gave you in favour of getting back in front of him and placing your hands on his shoulders? Absolutely. “Don’t ever say you’re useless or undeserving of affection, Alfonse. Ever. Because you’re not. It doesn’t matter if you have less experience on the field than other people here-- There are still things only you can do that others could never dream of. You’re a good artist, you’re a great scholar, you have one of the gate keys of Askr, for crying out loud-- You’re a little reserved, sure, but you’re still one of the kindest, most compassionate people I know. You do so much for everyone and expect so little in return... I’ve been working for you for two years, Al. I know you. And when I look at you I see someone I love dearly and want to protect, if I can-- Just like a little brother.”

“I- I never meant to make anyone uncomfortable. I just…” I’m not used to addressing anyone informally. That’s something you do with close friends and lovers, and I’m suited to neither. “My apologies. I will make an effort, but I cannot promise I will be successful right away. It’s a habit of seventeen years; you know I even address Commander Anna by rank. It’s… hard.”

“...Thank you. I appreciate that. I’m not mad at you, okay, Al? I’m just... I don’t think I’m deserving of that much respect when I have to rely on Clive half the time just to make headway with anything and again... I’m nobody back home. The effort is all I ask for, okay? We’re friends, right? Heck, you’re kinda like a little brother at this point. If, uh... That’s not weird.”

“That’s the entire problem! You’re the Great Hero; without you, the Order would fall apart. You’re exactly the kind of person I was brought up to treat with respect- surely you can’t fault me for being unable to kick a habit that was ingrained into me since I could speak!”

“I get it, but like... There’s a difference between treating someone with respect and making them uncomfortable, Alfonse! I don’t care what destiny or whatever says. I’m a person before I’m the Great Hero. I lived a commoner’s life until being brought here, so I want to be treated like any other commoner. With respect, yeah, of course-- But like-- Surely you can see why I don’t like it!”

coralin hates being addressed by title. she’s tried to get her heroes to drop it, and always looks incredibly uncomfortable when they don’t. 

she hasn’t outright said ‘hey stop you’re making me uncomfortable’ yet, out of fear that she won’t be taken seriously or looked down upon for being unable to handle it. she just... doesn’t feel right being spoken to so respectfully; until two years ago she was just any other person. having some great destiny doesn’t change that she’s still just one of many people.
