This is Hank!

The only earth pony in our group of six, but he more than makes up for any magical shortcomings with an abundance of intellect! He’s a city-dwelling (and slightly mad) genius scientist—everyone turns to him for advice, and if they don’t, he gives it to them anyway. Because he loves being right.

He is the second tallest pony in our group, right after Scott, but his imposing presence isn’t just due to his height—it’s his strong, well-built, and incredibly fluffy physique that really stands out. His fur is deep blue, with his hooves even darker. His mane and tail are sleek, well-groomed, and as dark as the night sky. He observes the world with sharp, slightly cunning golden-yellow eyes, peering through the lenses of small glasses.

His cutie mark features some variant of a vacuum flask—because, well, he is a scientist. The story of how he got it? That’s for another time.

Now, I have to admit, I was a little nervous about designing Hank. He’s the only pony in the group I haven’t yet drawn in the G4 style. I’ll give it a try, but apart from Fluffy Ponies, there aren’t many examples of truly furry ponies to use as reference. I might end up mixing elements from Rockhoof and the Fluffy Ponies… not sure yet.

As for his name—that part was fun. I considered Hooves McBeast or Hooves McClever (and honestly, I’ll probably call him that at some point anyway), but Dr. Hooves McBright feels less cringy, more elegant, and still highlights his intelligence while keeping the initials intact.

I’m especially happy with how his mane turned out. I struggled with it for a while—I initially wanted him to have a long, elegant tail, maybe even tied with a ribbon. But in the end, I gave him this short, refined, and glossy tail, and it looks great. His mane was inspired by his look in the comics, and I think I nailed the highlights. He really takes care of himself, that pony...

I also had some trouble deciding on his assigned Element of Harmony. While it’s loosely based on the original, its meaning is slightly adjusted—just like Scott’s.
