To train as a medic without… actually needing to go into the medbay? I do want to learn, so that I can patch myself (and others) up pretty well, but my stomach turns every single time I smell chemicals…

30 days of character development - days 16 and 17

16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?

Veridein lived with his (great) aunt after an incident at home that required him to leave. He relied on her and learned a great deal from her.

Veridein has quite a large “adoptive” family. Especially considering that the parents who raised him aren’t his blood parents.

  17.)What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?

Veridein takes after his father in the desk department; his workspace is an ‘organized mess’. He knows where—almost—everything is, though no one else would.

14.)14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?

He’s not one for chilly temperatures, but tends to wither in heat. He’s very sensitive to temperature changes and tends to get cold hands and overheats easily.

15.)15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?

Veridein can be either, though he tends to cycle through periods of staying up late and waking up early.

“Even then, he can be extremely stubborn… and make a person do things they normally don’t.” Max shook his head, remembering when Septimus had refused to sleep until both Max and Shadow had assured him multiple times.

And had promptly added ‘X Pillow’ to Max’s list of functions as a support program for X.

“That doesn’t mean it’s good…” X replied, dropping down where he is as he didn’t have the energy to stay standing. He was barely keeping it together as it was. Yes, he had heard about the older X. “I know that- I know that he has ‘issues’ sometimes.” Even if he didn’t know the exact nature of said issues. “But… he didn’t ask me if I thought we should- I just- maybe I’m being selfish.”

30 days of character development - day 13

What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?

Veridein alternates between being a quiet sleeper and a restless sleeper. He tends to squirm once he’s gotten warm enough to uncurl. He sleeps holding a pillow to rest his head on as he finds traditional pillow positioning uncomfortable for his neck. He refuses to sleep on the ‘open’ side of the bed and feels unsafe unless his back is to the wall.

Despite this, his bed is fairly neat in the morning.

“…I know everyone leaves.” Oh, how he knew that. So many people that he was never going to see again. So many times where he wondered, should he have let himself get attached? Should he have spent more time with them?

“But… shouldn’t that mean you should treasure the time you have with them…? Spend as much time as you can…?” He just wanted others to be happy, including Fallen, in a way that didn’t involve mass murder. He was sure the other had enjoyed being around him… unless he was deluding himself.
