oh yeah I forgot to update this blog in a while
Don't fully believe all the character descriptions. I flesh out the characters usually as I write them, and I very quickly realize that much of whats in the character descriptions on this blog are just not going to work with the character. Most (MOST) of the histories and stuff of the characters are true, but the personalities aren't always going to be- for example, I only decided once I actually started writing that Liam would be autism coded, or that Axel was such a good big sibling (they raised Liam almost as much as their parents did, after Liam was around twelve)
There is one other thing though- the Lopunil post is entirely wrong, I am going to have to rewrite it (AGAIN! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE REWRITTEN THIS BITCH) because I decided the whole "forced madness" thing was boring. Most of his actions are the same but his soul isn't corrupted or anything.

I think I'm going to rewrite all the chapters after like chapter two (except for the out of order ones)
So 3-7 are probably going to be rewritten. I went into writing this with WAY too little planning so most chapters did not come out as well as I'd like. They're defo gonna have their order shuffled around, too.
Im not gonna delete the old posts though idk how imma organize it
EDIT:
To know which shall be rewritten, check the Writing Masterpost. It's been edited with which ones are going to be rewritten. ALL of them are likely to be shuffled, except for 1 alone. Remembering Mekrun will become part two, what is now part two will be part three, a few others are going to be swapped, you get the idea.
I still have no idea how I am going to organize it all.

Colors
LONG awaited post by now (like a month and a half)
I got rid of personalized magical weapons, everyone has to make their own weapons now out of actual physical materials. You can enchant weapons via runes but its different from how it was before.
One loss of this- and the reason why I really didn't want to do it- is the loss of personalized weapons. Before, every weapon was unique to their owner. You can recognize someone for 100% certainty just based off their weapon (unless they put an illusion on their weapon and made it look like someone else's). it was like a fingerprint.
NOW that is lost, so I made up something to replaced it.
Everyone has Colors. Everyone has at least two of them, some have four of them. The colors are 100%, entirely unique to you, unless you happen to have an identical twin- you two will share colors. The difference between colors is sometimes only small, but it is very rare for two people to have very close colors, given they have two of them. Even if the colors are close, the places they are expressed will be different. The Colors can be literally ANY color except for white, grey, or black. So long as it has some proper color, it counts.
In Numen, it covers the patterns of their fur. Most of their fur is a shade of grey that they inherit, but they all have some kind of patterns on their fur that these Colors fill. For more info, see this.
In both species, Colors decides the eyes and the wings. Eyes are two different colors, the pupil is the inner area and the iris is the outer area. No one has black pupils in this world. Pupils are one color, the iris is another color. This is why some people have four colors- if you are heterochromatic, you have four colors, two per eye. But EVERYONE has inner and outer eye colors. Colors are also shown in patters on the wings, if they have wings, that are unique to every individual, though the patterns are known to be based on inheritance, whereas Colors are entirely random.

Names
So technically first names don't have defined cultural rules, this is just what ended up happening. First is first names, then I'll go into last names. Most of the first names section is just a history of how first names developed rather than a specific rule, so if you want you can skip it.
When the Elders first awoke, none of them had names. Not even the Nuthri had names yet. As time went on, they created shelters and discovered the world around them, they created spoken language. As they began to develop pronouns they realized they had no words to refer to each other in specific. So they made them up.
At first some people wanted to name themselves after natural phenomena or what they liked to do, and some people wanted to name other people so everyone would use their own names for everyone else (the people who liked that second idea were quickly argued against for the obvious problems), but eventually the Nuthri named themselves which settled the argument. They named themselves after random noises they liked the sound of pretty much. It meant absolutely nothing in proto-Ediku, but they liked what it sounded like and decided they would be that. Everyone followed their lead (they were like a month old, you're gonna listen to the people who both made you and are at least ten years old) so everyone's first name is just a random noise.
Problem is, most people didn't entirely listen to the Nuthri. The Nuthri named themselves entirely two syllable names, which was just coincidence so they didn't tell everyone else to do that. Most people ended up with three or four digit names. (notably excluding Larsun. She is too impatient for that.)
After this, when people started having children, they had realized how cumbersome the really long names were and started using shorter names. Luonim really was the only second generation child to be tripple syllable, and thats only because she was the earliest one born, before everyone realized shorter was better.
After this, third generation kids tended to be named with a mix between two and three syllables. I think after that it fell completly apart and cannot be predicted anymore. This is why most people in Liam and Axel's generation will be two-three syllables, while Calchoras and Fealron and Vlorindul are all Elders. (there are more exceptions to these rules, like Nrolin, but it fits at least 90% of the time, except in the third generation where it fits around 60% of the time).
Last names
House names are almost never taken up by an unmarried person. In fact I am not certain whether or not ANYONE took up a house name before marriage. It's also not always taken up, like Kriplun and Lapdin, who did not have a house name despite being married with a child.
A house name is taken up by a married couple that signifies what that house does. The first people to do this were the Lililnu's, the first smiths, and everyone followed their lead. (Hey! Notice the Nu as a suffix! Don't forget that! Most people use that as a prefix and it will be mentioned. A lot. Also part of the subject of my next worldbuilding post!)
Every house name is a compound word. Lililnu is literally just the word for "make" repeated twice, as if to mean "great make" or "great makers". They got married really early, so Ediku wasn't developed enough to have better phrasing than that.
Nulyradon means "family of kings" and it was chosen about a year into Blonicku's construction. Nrolin and Vlorindul had, previously, no house name.
Nuthri is a house name as well, technically. It was taken up before the Lililnu's, and was honestly not meant to be a house name, but when house names came along the Nuthri gladly said that was their house name. It is the only house name I have made that does not come of marriage.
Those are the three house names I have currently, there will be more. Now for the inheritance rules.
When a child is born, they automatically take the house names of anyone from the last three generations in their direct lineage. So great grandparents, grandparents, and parents. This typically ends up in around 3-4 house names, as they only take the house name automatically if the people in those three generations created the house name for themselves. So if great grandma inherited her house name from her grandma, you don't get it, you get the one she made up with her partner.
You also can choose the house name of anyone in you're lineage, if it's an important one. The further out you go the more you will be judge for it, though.
When you marry someone, you take on ONE of their house names guaranteed, if you wish you may take on multiple. You choose which one you HAVE to take on, but most people go with the one their partner's parents came up with, if they did. (When Freya married Liam, she took up the Nulyradon name. Same with Berloin taking up the Lililnu name)
These house names can then be spoken in any order. Here are a few ways that you can address Liam in the second blessed years, so after he married Freya (they DID invent a house name together but I haven't made it up yet so. Placeholder.)
Liam Nulilil Nulyradon Nuthri [Placeholder]
Liam Nulilil Nulyradon [Placeholder] Nuthri
The above two are the most common, as you can see it raises in importance. Family of kings is a more important status than Nulilil is, and Nuthri is more important than either. People disagree on whether [Placeholder] is more important than Nuthri.
It is technically allowed though considered improper to say "Liam Nulyradon Nuthri Nulilil [Placeholder]" but that's liable to get you punched depending on who you say it to.

Should I explain how names work? It's really specific worldbuilding
Also I probably should explain the "nu" suffix/prefix in Ediku

Chapter 4
Previous Next
context
Axel walked their brother through the streets of Blonicku, for the first time in this way.
He'd had the spell done only a week ago, which had side effects that grandmom hadn't had to deal with. Apparently, because the True Sun is gone, Leigha Liam had to have healing magic as well as the usual spell. Afterwards, he was unconscious for two whole days, as his body healed and adjusted. Grandmom, when she'd gone through this same spell, had been asleep for one hour. Granted, she'd had the Nuthri themselves doing it.
But he was happy looking in the mirror, now. He still had not gotten over the glee of knowing his own body was right. He probably wouldn't entirely be done with it for months, if not years.
This was not the first time he'd been through Blonicku since then, but it was the first time with Axel. Everyone seemed to recognize him so far, from his previous outings, and no one said anything.
They were bringing him to Blueya's house, to let him see what jeweling was like. Blueya was a blacksmith specializing in jewelry, which none of their family did, despite being the most famous blacksmiths in the world on their dad's side. They'd created the occasional necklace or earring, but mostly kept it to fittings, weapons, and every day items. The jewelry they made was never very interesting either, lacking proper jewels and full decoration.
Liam was still too young to choose a Skill, but it was never too early to show him the options. Axel had chosen painting at 16, and had been very interested in it since 11. Liam had been interested in blacksmithing so far but hadn't much liked the results of it, not interested in creating any of it. He had been caught staring at peoples jewelry in the streets though, so Blueya, who made most of that street jewelry, agreed to meet him.
Axel had never met Blueya, so this would be an experience for them both.
Blueya's house was a relatively plain one, by Blonicku standards, as her house didn't really demonstrate the artistic side of her Skill. Granted, almost all the art she made was jewelry, so it was hard to work it into architecture. It was one level and relatively small, only six rooms, though made out of marble with a roof of gold.
The fun part of this trip was, they didn't tell Liam where they were going, just that they were showing him a new kind of Skill.
Walking up to the door, Liam having no idea who was on the other side, Axel had Liam knock and they waited for a moment.
No words came from the other side, and the door opened. They saw no inside.
Walking in, no one was behind the door either.
Had she set up her door to remotely open? That was possible with runes, though most didn't bother. Strange.
Liam had hardly noticed the lack of a person. He was staring at the walls.
Hung on pegs in glass display cases were dozens of elaborate necklaces. The display cases, on top of the cabinets and tables and thus that Liam couldn't see easily, had bracelets, rings, and more inside. They were all made of gold, silver, brass, etc, and the majority of them had some kind of gem. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds and the like. It was honestly incredible.
Liam was standing perfectly still, jaw dropped, eyes darting between all the jewelry around him.
Axel tried to nudge him to walk forward, to try to find anyone in the house, but he was too focused on the art.
They know they can't take their eye off him for risk of him actually trying to take off a display case and grab something, so they start calling out. "Hello?"
Silence.
"Blueya?"
Silence.
A few repeats of this before she appeared from the hallway. She was wearing a blue ankle length dress which covered all the way down to her wrists, and surprisingly little jewelry.
Still more than the average person, of course, but given the walls were practically painted with jewelry it wasn't a lot. She had golden bracelets each with an emerald on top, a necklace of silver with three gems of some variety Axel couldn't place, golden earrings each with a small ruby in them, and bronze anklets with lapis set in the front.
They didn't say anything, but stared at Axel and sent a conceptual thought over. Did no one tell you anything about me before they sent you here?
The thought came over with confusion and annoyance, both pointed at Axel.
Wonderful. They'd been here for less than a single minute and they'd already offended their hostess.
They responded telepathically as well, I wasn't sent here, all of it was my idea. Our family doesn't know where we are except that I'm taking Liam to see something.
Blueya looked confused, and her next thought sent over was Calchoras seemed to think it was your father's idea.
Oh, no. I never told him whose idea specifically it was when I asked him to talk to you, I guess he just assumed.
Blueya's next thought came with a hint of apology, then. Well then, my soul has something strange. Sometimes I can talk completely fluently, sometimes I have lowered grammar, and sometimes I completely cannot. Right now is the third. It doesn't affect conceptual telepathy, though.
Conceptual telepathy is sending a thought over without words, sending the idea without the vocabulary of any language.
This explained the door. She sometimes wouldn't be able to shout through it to let people know they may let themselves in, so she used runes to allow herself to open it from other rooms. It also explained the silence when Axel was yelling, of course.
I'm sorry, then. Can you understand words still? Liam is too young to send any kind of thought, words or no.
She nodded, so Axel introduced themselves verbally as if she didn't already know, and had Liam do the same. He needed to learn to do it on his own, after all, even though everyone in Blonicku knew both of them. It's the principle of it.
…It may have taken him a second to stop staring at the jewelry, which Blueya smiled at.
"Liam, this is Blueya. She sometimes can't talk right. Sometimes she can, sometimes she can't, sometimes kind of. Right now she can't at all, but she's sending thoughts to me. I'll tell you what she says to you, okay?"
Liam nodded, smiling at Blueya, before turning his eyes back to the display cases. He really was entranced by them, in a way they'd never seen him be for any other art form.
Blueya laughed, took his hand, and led them both to a room down the hall.
This room was clearly where she worked. Unmade jewelry was in various places around the room. Necklace chains on certain benches, dozens of gems in storage, raw metals in the corner, and so, so many tools.
Ask him if he wants to watch me set a jewel in a necklace.
"Liam, do you want to watch Blueya put a jewel in a necklace?"
"YES!" He screamed the word out and ran over to Blueya, while she walked to one of the workbenches.
She picked up a silver necklace, and gestured to Liam a collection of jewels. Each was a different type and color, and each was the exact same cut. Liam figured out what she meant, and chose the red one.
Blueya used several tools over the process of the next twenty minutes, and showed Liam close up how each one worked, where the metal had to be bent to accept the ruby and where the metal then had to be moved back to hold it properly. All the while Liam looked on with starstruck eyes, his soul emanating curiosity and excitement. She didn't utter a single word during the entire thing, but Liam seemed to understand well enough.
After it was done, a customer arrived for Blueya, and they decided to leave. Liam did get a gift from Blueya, though; the necklace she'd set that ruby in.
If he wants to, bring him around again. And later as a teen, I'd be willing to apprentice him, if he wants it then.
They nodded, Liam thanked her and actually hugged her, and they went on their way.
On the way home, Liam ranted on about the processes he'd watched and asked them about it, as if they'd have any idea what she'd done. They'd done occasional forgework, yes, but they'd never worked with jewelry and probably never would.
One thing was for sure, though; they'd be coming back.

I should maybe stop trying to go in order for writing this
I keep wanting to write it all in the correct order from Liam as a baby all the way to the end of the final war, but it's very difficult to make myself write some of the earlier chapters.
IDK if I will continue going in the proper order, but whether I do or not this next one at least is out of order; It's from Freya's perspective, and by this point Liam is around 120 years old.
