I could NEVER be one of those ppl complaining about the classic undertale characters being “irrelevant” in deltarune. I find the way deltarune highlights each of their flaws through their much more mundane lives so fascinating

The night after i finished deltarune I had a dream that i was playing a new chapter where the entire town turned into a dark world weirdmageddon style and while we were running across the town tenna suddenly jumped into frame with mettaton guiding him around like a mecha and mettaton explained they were saving people and tenna excitedly told kris to look at him being useful and then heroically exclaimed WE'RE SHOULDERS TIME!!!! and grabbed berdley who was in our party and tossed him over his shoulders and then they jumped out of frame again and they just looked like this

i like seeing people’s takes on what tenna’s body looks like without the suit. so here’s my own version

...you know, sometimes, between how:

noelle seems to be a video game glitch / creepypasta / weirdness magnet (from when she was fairly young if we believe the ice-e story)

the fact that she's the one with the power to divert the plot in a significant manner thanks to the... effectiveness of her ice magic

the whole plot to find dess being an active story hook (whereas asriel's return is simply a waiting game)

the way the secret bosses are attached to her (jevil smiling at her, everything that was revealed with the spamton sweepstakes)

and now the stuff with her expressing interest in using both swords and armor like kris does...

between all that, sometimes, i can't help but wonder if she was, in some in-universe earlier version of "deltarune", meant to be the protagonist. maybe with her and a non-possessed kris as the two lightner heroes, before susie was, i suppose, added somehow (she is, after, the newest girl, and doesn't yet seem to have a place she belongs in hometown).
