It took Cyr a few seconds to realize what Ser Guerrique was talking about. Following the elezen knight’s gaze he blinked, staring at a fresh burn on his wrist, and quickly adjusted his sleeve to cover it. It was careless of him to trip and fall in the hall of Vault right in front of someone else.

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about,” he quickly looked away, feeling how his ears are turning bright red. He never was good with lies, but telling the truth would be even worse. Honestly, he wasn’t worring too much about that small burn, he stopped counting those marks long time ago, his mentor was rather quick with punishments, and Cyr had to deal with it. But letting someone notice it, even by accident, was embarrassing.

“I’m terribly sorry for taking your time, Ser Guerrique, but I have to hurry,” he said calmly, while getting up from the floor and strightening out his robe. There. He’ll just leave right now like if nothing happened.

“Excuse me?” Cyr blinked, looking at an elezen in front of him in surprise. It was true that he was cold after spending all the day running around whole Ishgard to complete all the instructions his mentor left for him, and today was really freezing, that was also an undeniable fact... He even started thinking if he got the meaning behind Ser Guerrique’s words correctly. After getting so used to Ser Charibert using phrases with double meaning he couldn’t help but start looking for that in other people’s words.

And now he was suddenly stopped on his way back to Tribunal, holding a huge pile of papers and visibly shivering from cold. Well, he should reply something to not look inpolite to one of his mentor’s colleagues. “Thank you for the offer, Ser Guerrique, but I’m afraid that if I will be late with those papers, Ser Charibert might get a little upset...”

He smiled slightly apologetically at that. “Well, thank you for your care, Ser Adelphel, but as I said before, I’m not in the position to complain.”

He looked around slightly nervously, to make sure that Ser Charibert won’t suddenly appear from nowhere. “Though I must admit that it may be tough sometimes, my mentor has a very... unique approach to learning, and when you have so many of him around...” Cyr shivered at that thought, but then shook his head. “But if I want to achieve anything in this life I need to try hard, right? I must simply accept it as a part of my training.”
