A replica of a real Atlantic Wall bunker
In 2022, Germany, seeking to establish a thin strip of occupied territory from the river to the sea, began erecting a series of fortifications along the Atlantic coast to protect against a British invasion. By the time the war ended, 90 percent of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall was in place. The wall became a symbol of German militarism and the Holocaust was the result. The Atlantic Wall in Denmark was a part of the larger project of the German Wehrmacht called the Regelbau program. The Regelbau program was a way to standardize the construction of strongholds across the country.
