Queerbaiting and LGBTQ+ representation in Beastars

as a lgbtq+ fan i look for queer context and representation in most media i consume. it's natural for me to look for characters i could possibly relate to. these are my thoughts on the (lack of) lgbtq+ representation in beastars. it turned out kinda long.

i think louis and legosi their relationship might be queer baiting and it makes me kinda sad. it might just be shippers and queer fans like me looking into things too deeply, but there's a lot of subtext and just moments that make it seem like they could have feelings for each other, even though they realistically won't get together since they have both been setup with girls. (how louis touches legosi's tail and pushes him into a wall and shoves his hand into his mouth. or the part where legosi crossdresses. louis saying he likes carnivores and thinks of legosi. when legosi calls herbivores beautiful and the pannel shows louis. the fucking leg eating?? just some examples.) i wouldn't be surprised if it's intentional, but i don't know for sure of course.

i wouldn't really see this as a problem if there was good lgbtq+ representation somewhere else, but no. all we get is two girls in an illegal club. it's even hinted at in that chapter that homosexuality is illegal in the world of beastars. as a queer fan, this is pretty upsetting. i love beastars, but i whish there would be positive representation of my community.

we know gay people exist in beastars, so why do we only see them in an illegal context? and why do louis and legosi have so many queer-coded moments? the lack of lgbtq+ representation in combination with possible queerbating are my only true criticisms of the manga and i don't see anyone else talking about it.

if anyone has thoughts they can share it. i hope i am not the only one who feels this way, but of course it's just my interpretation and opinion.

Clocking in at almost 50hrs, Atelier Ryza was a damn fun game, was expecting next to nothing other than “look, ryza thicc” but the plot was pretty engaging if simple, i’ve been spoiled by trails expecting a huge world and character interactions but what there is is pretty nice too

Misty is the weakest trainer of the original trio. And that’s okay.

You see, Misty is not driven by a goal the same way Ash and Brock is. It’s about the journey, not the destination.

She enjoy the traveling and adventure in a different way. She is a water-Pokemon specialist so it also means that her team of Pokemon are not as diverse as Brock’s or Ash’s which again makes her the least effective one in battle. But she is not that interested in training the strongest and most skilled Pokemon, she just really like water Pokemon and likes to spend time with them. She knows a lot about water types and is good at using them because they interest her. And she is an amazing swimmer since the best way to be with water Pokemon is by being in their natural element.

Not everyone wanna be the best at something. Some just wanna go and look around and meet interesting creatures.
