The inanimate insanity fandom doesn’t really take time to think about how many “will you make [insert ship here] canon?” Questions they ask the ii team, especially in livestreams

Like specifically nickloon, fantube, silver candle, and lightbrush (and I’ve seen a lot but not as much tacomic)

Like they’re good ships, but also leave these people alone dear god

you can tell in the livestreams how tired they are of hearing the same things over and over and like honestly real

I love ship art / animatics / content in general, but sometimes a fandom can focus on two characters and NOT make it all about the fact that they ship them

So the pilot for Sacrificially Solitary just dropped like two weeks ago and I finally watched it. It's a non-competition object show but in the middle of the episode the two main characters recited an incantation that teleported them into an empty meadow in the middle of nowhere and I just couldn't help but think:

In an alternate universe:

Clyde and Cleo say the incantation and are teleported to the grassing meadow in the middle of nowhere.

Cloe: Why do I hear "New Friendly" playing?

Clyde: What the hell is "New Friendly"?

It's not biological. It's psycological.

The shows that lets us see what the contestants' lives are like before the host comes along proves this as so. With very little exception, though this was a bigger problem in the older shows and slightly less so these days, the contests are homeless, in some random empty field in the middle of bumf**k nowhere, have little if any personal belongings, and are all stuck within seemingly random groups with each other, who they may or may not know and may or may not even get along with.

Then these host guys come in out of nowhere and give these object folk everything they've ever needed! Food, shelter (sometimes), enrichment, a purpose and a goal to achieve (think about all the objects that complained of boredom right before the host showed up), and structure.

Though whether alot of these hosts are doing this for the benefit of the contestants or and just taking advantage of the homeless is another discussion entirely.

Though we do know, thanks to recent airings that certain hosts have been dabbling in some very dubious methods such as kidnapping and/or brainwashing objects into participating.

There’s even this one show, “Object Cringe”, that used law enforcement tactics to get a competition going: Competitive Law. As was pointed out by @frenchtoast2763 in the comments of the original post above.

One was even revealed very recently to have generated three entire, fully conscious and sapient groups of object folk for their multi season long show!

Since this reveal more research is currently being done to discover which other groups of contestants this may also apply to. We are currently focusing on the contestants that don’t show signs of having any pre-show background and hosts that either have deity-like powers and/or very advanced tech.

In hindsight the fact that all the contestants from… that show never talked about their past from before the show should’ve raised more eyebrows with us than it did, but better late than never.

After that we will be focusing on the show with contestants whose personalities are… suspiciously flat.

I hope that clears it up.

I love that with every object show created, it further implies that these little things love competing in shit so much so that it really seems like it's biological at this point. you biologically want to compete in this show so bad. you biologically need to win a million dollars or an island or any prize. or just participating is fine.

I feel like it's kind of crazy that this weird little, niche little genre of indie web animation is only 15 years old, and yet there are people who are younger than said web animation genre who are contributing with their very own take on the concept!

after the past contestants of ii start fearing permanent death, Oj takes the matter into his own hands, to keep everyone in the hotel safe... but isn't he doing a bit much...?

(hello! this au takes place after ii18 and the hotel is rebuilt (which I may explain later). in this au Oj decides he's responsible for everyone's safety and starts taking precautions that are a bit overboard. but, until fear dies down, there's a lot more rules in place. a bunch of former contestants are labeled as hazards that are potentially risky for the more "fragile" contestants. more info will come later.

***Residents that are known to have high volumes are also labeled as hazards for the safety of glass residents. The group was made to keep an eye on Mic, but other... loud residents were added later.

(other askables +) new safety programs and those participating:

Anger management:

Paintbrush, Candle*, Silver Spoon, YinYang, etc.

Oj won't admit it, but anger management was only made for Paintbrush, despite its later popularity. Their anger issues are the only reason they're a fire hazard after all, so this was the solution to reduce the chances of them getting angry. Whether it's working or not is debatable.

*Candle, upon being classified as a fire hazard, was put in AM alongside Paintbrush. Though she quickly proved to be better as a teacher, replacing Goo, whose analogies weren't exactly helping anyone calm down.

Silver Spoon was not labeled as a hazard yet started attending classes after a few petty arguments. Though he was initially reluctant, he seemed not to complain after finding out Candle was leading it.

YinYang's behavior, though improved, has landed them both in trouble occasionally. AM was more so a suggestion.

There are more attendees, but they either aren't regulars or don't have a good enough reason to be listed

Lifering's "Life Guard" program:

Lifering volunteered to help prevent any accidents when there was no other reasonable solution. This includes sticking closer to "hazardous" objects. He's been spending the majority of time just being in the same room as Candle. Besides that, Lifering has generally been available immediately in case of emergency. (But then again, when was he not?"

Anti-Mold:

Food objects are susceptible to molding, especially if they eat moldy food, so everyone has been asked to leave dates on anything in the fridge. They aren't sure what they'd do if someone did start molding, but it's better to prevent it all together.
