EVALUATION
EVALUATION.
How have key principles and methods used in the field of design thinking been evident in the project for you?
First i want to say that i have absolutely been better taking care of a project before, it has been a crazy ride really, don't know if i should evaluate the first assessment as well, but i feel that i do reflect over the HCD part more and more, it feels that i took on a more serious role now as a creator knowing about hcd. I am very happy about the art direction and tone of emotion in my final product, i feel it has this very calm and observing vibe that i was looking for, not being to hostile and judgemental. My design thinking is with me 24/7, i do actually think of the narrative and visuals very often, painting a vivid picture in my head before i start a project. Working on my own individual project, i have taken the freedom to work more free as well. Sometimes i feel storyboards and such are a very important part of the process, mostly in fiction. But now when i needed to reflect and see the world as it is and make a real documentary piece, I have felt that i can be more free in the pre-production process, and more storytelling and specific in post production. The music came pretty natural for me, i was thinking about some specific artists as Mount Kimbie and Bon Iver while i was making the soundtrack, I wanted to create a similar feeling to their calm european projects that engage the world in a peaceful approach, to evoke the audience a more manageable approach to this issues.

When it comes to the audio visual part i went with a similar approach, it needed to get forward a calm and cosy feeling at the same time talking about a massive issue. I mean, for instance, i used a mic, but the sound from the mic was to immersive and clear to use in a interview as i did, because it didn't feel as “home-made”, and the idea with text-visuals over audio wouldn't really make that much sense if the sound was perfect, so i choose to use to camera sound recording instead, to feel more homemade, so a young audience would relate more.

What are the key moments of insight you have gained in the project? Here you can refer to particular activities, readings or collaboration.
Mostly i feel that through the process of editing the final render, i felt how amazingly important every detail is when it comes to the tone of a video, if its gonna be hard, dramatic, or just friendly and cosy for instance. I came to understand that details matter even more now in storytelling and video making than before. When it comes to fictional projects, its more of your own decision and feelings you play with. But when it comes to something that actually relates to reality it feels more delicate, Because this is more centred around the audience instead of myself. I feel that it is a very important process, to focus on other people instead of my own creative process all the time.
Describe design thinking. How do you now understand this and how is this relevant to your own design practice?
Its simple really, just working from the understanding this process make stuff easy. its logic, i mean, i always start with the research together with my own ideas, merge that to new insights that come to me through my research process. Then i dive into specific problems, for instance what target group i have or what different narrative my story should tell. in this case it came to me very quickly that if i want to make awareness i also need to be open for ideas, and the ideas came from the research process gathering information on this topic and what tone of voice the successful videos has. brainstorm starts and ideas come to life, getting it down to storytelling and music creation, refining through time and even more research going back and see my first notes from the start of the process and recap where i am heading. And i guess thats how my discover define develop deliver process works, so i find the double diamond very logical and generic, its just a basic knowledge for process, and i now afterwards always understand what i did good or not, just from looking at the Double diamond process, i feel very happy of the end result of my project, and this course has been very rewarding of new insights that i will take with me back to Sweden!
Thank you!

One possible solution that i really find appealing is having your own personal bottle of soy sauce wherever you go, your see this trending as hot source and sauce in general gets weirdly accepted as it is a very personal choice to your own food, we see a trend in big brand do this like Sriracha Mini Refillable Hot Sauce Keychain Bottle its following the trend of hiphop culture and food, with sauce that has a very long expire date and that can endure a variety of climate, As soy sauce also do.

Trying different colors that would fit the end result, trying different concept colors as purple. Being a color that represents something manmade and unnatural, but in the end i went with the original colors and a more bland colorspace, because i wanted it too look more natural and realistic.

I couldnt use this clip in the video, because sushi hub didnt approve. They actually thought i was interfering with their brand and guidelines, Though it it totally legal to film on the street, i found this odd. Anyhow i was also kicked out from broadway from filming inside.

For making the video more powerful i was going to rosebay beach before sunset to film some soy sauce fishes in the ocean.. I took a bunch with me from sushi hub where i usually go to eat my sushi. I actually thought that i needed to bring my own material, but to my surprise i actually found non-used fishes in the water which was both rewarding and disturbing.

My interview research found that we had almost a 50/50 on asking if you thought this plastic solution was positive or negative

Inspiration.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxMATP5oRx4&t=170s
As i have no solution to plastic pollution and work more as the middleman making awareness for a greater problem, this video has been one of the main inspiration for the whole project. Both in its dramaturgi and message. When i look at this video and how they manage to create a positive connotation of a problem of this magnitude, i feel that this has to become one of the core ingredients to a good awareness campaign. Sure intimidation in media is a very common tactic, But to see people actually make a change mentally, we need to see the bright side of the future, otherwise we will just give up and hide the problems under a rug. This is something that came natural to me making this video. Not to blame anyone, and actually see this as a problem we can solve together if we dont judge each other to quickly.

music inspiration.

This tune has a feeling that are hard to grasp. Like this problem where we are so close to a solution at the same time we are so far from it, i wanted to in a way mimic the emotion.
