“I am fire.”
I had been really excited about this piece--I really liked my original sketch. I even saved a bunch of progress files and everything of it, but finishing it now I don’t particularly favor it much at all.
But at least I’m still trying and learning right? Time to move on to something else..

Finished painting another laser tag this morning! The CW team did great on this morning!

Another arena almost finished! This is one of the murals done today. Hard to believe that just five months ago I painted my first waterfall with a Husky paint gun, and it looked terrible. Two waterfalls later and this--remember that thing people tell you about always practicing? Sometimes, taking a break can do wonders too (one huge thing I’ve learned from this job).
Anyway, it’s a little sad that I won’t be on the road again for the foreseeable future, so no more exciting laser tag posts for a while after this one! But we’ll see about cooking up some cool stuff back at the shop!

A current work in progress of a personal piece! I’m super excited to finish this one; work has really been busting my butt lately and taking most of my time so progress is coming along slowly.
I will be traveling to Ohio tomorrow for another laser tag paint job, so I’ll be out for another week again likely. But, I wanted to show that I’m not completely gone!

This is a quicker paint sketch that I wound up doing whilst randomly inspired the other night! I am in between a busy period at work (lotsa overtime) and working on a commission, so I don’t really have time to polish this, but I can at least sketch!

Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory! Throwback to when cartoon’s were good. Tried to be a little hasty with this one. I also acquired Substance Painter today! Looking forward to learning the ropes on that within the next few weeks!

A Lapras sculpt to get back into the swing of things with Zbrush. I’m not particularly rusty, but feel a little down and out without Keyshot to go with the program. I learned a whole lot about rendering and lighting in Zbrush with this model though, onward to learn more!

Sketching some cartoon human faces for expression practice. Been doing a lot in Zbrush lately, but have also been doing a lot of cleaning lately (therefore no art). I have also began to feel a lot of pressure to really start pushing my art, and naturally that is met with some shake in confidence, not to mention serious lack of inspiration; I’m trying to nurse myself out of the slump--I just want to get something done! I’ve taken to pouring more into the imagination station--I’ve picked up gaming more regularly, reading and watching movies on my own time. Inspiration needs fed, and I need to recognize that while doing art is all good and well, my best art comes when I’m inspired to do it.

I’m doing the Inktober/Drawlloween thing, but because I don’t have a definite list and want to do more sculpting, I’m doing daily speed sculpts according to the topics I see other people post for Drawlloween/Inktober. Today’s is “Noisy”. It’s noisy in her head, “If I just close my eyes for a moment, when I open them, things will be better...I hope.”

I’ve been working quite a bit lately and it’s exhausting but good. That being said it’s been hard to come home and work on any artwork; but I’ve been challenging myself to do some speed sculpting lately. I spent around an hour on both of these.
Of course, the greatest challenge in speed sculpting is forcing yourself to stop. I wanted very much to keep going on both ideas, but the objective is to get speedier so I have finished looking pieces in under an hour yeah? Rambling ends now.

A quicker doodle piece, no title and more of a warm up on new hardware. I’ve been in the process of getting “life figured out”. I’ve moved and started a new job and have traveled for said job in just this past month. It’s been fantastic, exhausting, and inspiring.
Anyway, a few things moving forward:
I’m going to keep this blog more personal about my artistic endeavors. On other outlets I’m going to keep to a very strictly professional post-the-art-and-run principle going, but on here I will keep giving small tidbits about my art as I post it.
I will also keep posting a good deal of what I create on here. Even the bad stuff, as is canon to my original intention of making a tumblr. I spend too much time worrying about posting good art that I forget to just post art.
I guess I will try to do more fanart. *insert cringing here* But I’m not going to limit myself to one medium, style or type of art. For this next year I want to focus on becoming inspired as an artist and exploring.
