Personalize That Tailgate
Football season is upon us. Our Saturdays will now be dictated by the ability of college dudes to run faster, throw harder, and score more TDs than the other guys. But no matter whatâs going on with the âHorns, our tailgates gotta be championship caliber. So how do you set yourself apart? Check out these easy tailgate personalization ideas:
Custom Koozies
A good tailgate needs food, cold drinks, and plenty of friends. A great tailgate needs a little more personalization. A lame tailgate has those random koozies you got for free from opening a checking account. A legit tailgate has a little more flairâlike these custom koozies.Â
Solo Cup Personalization
Does your tailgate have more of a signature cocktail vibe? Maybe those Solo cups or styro cups need a boost. Make it countâeven if your Bloody Mary is lacking, at least it will look good. You can get customized cups here.Â
Clear Totes & That Annoying Stadium Policy
Now, occasionally people will want to move the party from the tailgate to the stadium. When that happens, donât be the one who has to get out of line because your purse doesnât meet the clear bag policy. Thatâs just annoying. Two Funny Girls has you covered; clear totes and cross body bags that are Longhorn Football and NFL clear bag policy approved. Make the bag your own with a fun monogram in your team color and youâll be ready to go.

5 Summer Purchases That Will Transition To Tailgating Season
Summer is here, and that means itâs time to start preparing for beach and pool parties! And with summer upon us, tailgating season is just right around the corner. Here are some of the best investments that can take you from summer beach party guru to the king of the tailgate this fall.
Portable Grill
A portable grill is an essential part of any tailgating operation and if youâre planning some all-day beach trips or summer BBQs a quality grill is an important investment. Take a look at size, portability, and also long term reviews for any grills you may have your eye on. This is definitely an area worth an investment to be sure you will have well cooked food at all your upcoming get togethers.
Canopy Necessities
Mother Nature can be unpredictable and if you are planning on spending time outdoors you need to be ready for anything. Not only does a quality canopy provide shelter from harsh sun or the random rain shower, it also provides a nice landmark. On a crowded beach or at a packed tailgate, it is always nice to be able to locate your home base from far away. With that in mind, try to pick a color that will stand out among the rest.Â
Upgrade the Car
Looking to road trip this summer but are tight on space? Consider investing in a new car. If outdoor adventures are your game, try to take advantage of a full summer of getting used to your new wheels before tailgating season. Be sure to look for something with enough space for your gear and all your passengers like an SUV or a crossover and pick what best fits your lifestyle all year. Â
Quality Cooler
Cold beverages and keeping your food fresh should be your top priorities when it comes to outdoor gatherings. Make sure when you invest in a good, reusable cooler, you remember to consider portability too. Coolers can get heavy and while for tailgating this may not be an issue, you will feel the burn if you have to carry your cooler down the beach or out to a campsite this summer.
Lawn Games
Playing lawn games at a tailgate is like tailgating at a football game â itâs just tradition! There are plenty of lawn games out there so try to shake it up from some of the classics. This is definitely a place you should look to save some space and invest in ultra-portable games to make storing and transporting the games a breeze. Check out our recent posts on DIY Washer Pit and the Cooler Shoot.
Enjoy the summer and let the countdown to Tailgate Season officially commence!

Cooler Shoot Review
Weâre always looking at new products to add to our tailgate experiences so here we are again. We recently got our hands on a new product thatâs trying to get launched through a KickStarter campaign and weâve given it our thoughts below.
PLUS, weâll give one away to a lucky winner absolutely FREE.
There are only two or three staples for games at Texas Tailgatesâcornhole (bean bag toss) and washers. Now, washers can be a bit of a pain because keeping track of those little things while thousands of people are roaming tailgate land is hard. So we have been looking for some newer game options. Today weâll review the latest candidateâthe Cooler ShootÂź and see if itâs up to par.
The Game Itself:
The Cooler Shoot is part game, part beer cooler. Itâs basically a two tower ring toss. There are two, 3â tubes/towers with a stand set 15-18â apart that you toss 5 rings at to score points. Knocking off the topper (a recently finished beer can or cup) and/or getting a ringer can score you points. You play to 21, and can go back in forth in singles or doubles, just like corn hole. Sounds easy enough.
youtube
 Key Features:
Spring Loaded Can âButlerâ
That is, you can load up some beer cans in the âtowersâ, and it âreloadsâ the next one when you pull one out.
Insulated
Just like a cooler, it keep your beer cold, assuming itâs already coldâyou canât really add ice to it. :/
Carrying Straps
Portability is a key attribute for anything we pack for a tailgate, so this is a big plus.
Graphics
Ours had the flagship stars and stripes logo but weâve been told collegiate licensing is on the radar. Clearly, Texas Longhorn ones would be ideal! But I digress.
Retails for $139.95 + shipping via their website.
Positives:
Portability is goodâitâs narrow, has straps but we wished it could be 100% self-contained.
There a bit of novelty to it. Itâs GREAT for a tailgate cause it combines fun AND drinksâŠI mean, why else are we at a tailgate? Weâve never seen such a thing and it would be unique to your tailgate (and ours)
Itâs a good compliment to cornhole and/or washers, as any age can play.
Doesnât take up much space. While you do need a tossing alley (like cornhole), the game itself has a very small footprint. And for Austin tailgating, space is at a premium!
Negatives:
Price is high for a game, but Iâm assuming thatâs because it serves dual purposes, and they are just getting off the ground. I suspect the price will drop over time. A nice cornhole set runs $85-$115. Washer pits even less. At $139.99 itâs not ideal.
The tower doesnât have room/place for ice. So you have to load previously cooled drinks. In the Texas heat, I donât think theyâd stay cold for long.
Graphics are fine, but not the sexiest. On-going licensing deals would overcome thisâŠcause a UT one that looks like the UT Tower would be SWEEEEET. Iâm sure theyâll find out soon those licensing fees for UT are about as steep as they come.
Itâs not 100% Self-ContainedâThat is, the discs and stands you have to carry separately, outside of the tubes.
Overall, we think itâs the novelty that we found interesting (both game and mini beer cooler). It probably wonât set the world on fire at the current price, but it will set you apart from other tailgatesâŠgotta keep up with the Jonesâ!
If you are looking to purchase one of these new-to-market games, check out the KickStarter campaign. Donât wanna wait or even pay?

Twisted Mustard Brats
If you are reading this, you probably already know your way around a tailgate grill. And while we post plenty of recipes to mix up your tailgate food, we also try to look for new twists on some old favorites. Burgers and brats are staples at most of our tailgates so we found a recipe thatâs right up our alley, and hopefully yours. Check out these brats with a Twisted Tea kick.

Ingredients
1 12oz Can Twisted Tea Original
1/4 C Whole Grain Mustard
2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
4 Bratwurst
Instructions
Fire up the grill and...
Pour Twisted Tea into a saucepan on the edge of the grill.
Whisk in mustard and garlic powder.
Place bratwursts in broth and bring to a simmer; cook until heated through.
Notes
Mustard helps bring out a surprisingly earthy, true âteaâ tone in a simple braise for any game-day sausages. Set the pan over low coals, and just keep adding sausages or Twisted Tea, when either gets low; itâll only taste better over time!

Tailgate Drinks
Itâs hard to imagine a tailgate w/out a slew of beer, but if you want to host a great tailgate party, one that people will actually keep coming back for, you have to do better. Itâs just like having a party at homeânot everyone has the same tastes, or be in the same moods for only one kind of drink. A great tailgater has this covered. So weâll get you covered with options we consider.
Beer We know, we know, itâs super obvious but beer with us (see what we did there). The most often overlooked issue here is selection. In Texas, we gotta have at least one light beer option âcause of the heat. Beyond that, we typically buy a range of  seasonal beersâthis helps cover a range of preferences plus, itâs a good +1 for guests. And a happy guest is one that comes back all season. We start with Coors Light, and round out with Shiner Family Reunion or Oktober Fest. New Belgium has a mixed 12 pack that weâre fond of too.Â
Water We live in Texas and the first few tailgates are 100ish degrees, so this is an absolute requirement. Plus with all the drinking going on, gotta stay hydrated enough to make it through the game. Choose individual bottles waters over jugs to avoid bringing more cups.Â
Pre-Made Cocktails A few decades of tailgating has taught us the fewer things to bring to the tailgate, the faster and less work it will be to set up/break down. So instead of bringing booze with way too many mixers, opt for pre-made drinks in cans or bottles. We like Jack Daniels Country Cocktails but not everyone likes Whiskey. So a safer bet is Twisted TeasâI mean, itâs iced tea and booze all in one (2 Texas favorites)! These are great options for people who donât like beer and come in 10+ flavors. We generally stick to the Original and the Half & Half, which combines iced tea and lemonade. Think of it as an Arnold Palmer, with a kick.
Hard Liquor Donât you do it! Ok, weâre all gonna do it. But we may or may not have experienced some less than favorable outcomes when bringing/drinking only hard liquor while tailgating. It never ends well. So focus on the above and stick to only 1-2 kinds like Tequila or Bicardi that easily mixes with sodas. If you just want it for shots, Fire Ball never fails, and more people will take that over Tequila. Now, if you have a big enough tailgate and a dedicated bartender, do whatcha like. Consider âfeaturedâ cocktails though to make it easier. Basil Julep and other recipes here. Donât say we didnât warn ya.
Sodas / Juice The average tailgater is college educated and in their 30s-50s, which means kids will be in tow. While you want to prioritize the above, donât lose sight of the little ones or peeps that donât like adult beverages. So accommodate! Plus, you can use these as mixers. Diet Coke and Dr. Pepper are the Texas favorites and can be dual purpose.

Black Friday Tailgating
We get asked a lot what the Friday after Thanksgiving tailgate looks like on the 40 acres for the Texas Longhorns tailgate parties. So we figured we would give you the low-down for this yearâs game against Texas Tech.
The Friday after Thanksgiving has become a pretty great day for tailgating since everyone is off and tired of their families by then. And letâs face it, tailgating is way better than Black Friday Shopping. To get spots / parking for that particular game, things are a little different:
The UT vs. Texas Tech game is scheduled for Friday, November 24th at 7 pm. Tailgate set-up begins at 6:00 pm the day before the game, which is Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 23rd. Parking lots will be secured until this time and will not open early. First Come First Serve lots will also begin selling open spaces at 6 pm, Thursday, November 23rd. This is probably most important to the general public.
Hereâs a map of the tailgate area, with Lots for public space for first come first serve (though some are reserved too). You should target Lot 3, 2 or 8, in that order. These are in good areas and likely to have a few spots. If you go at 6pm on Thursday to those lots, there will be attendantsâŠyou generally have to pay $20-$40/spotâCASH ONLY. Thereâs no vendors/stores around so BYOB and food before arriving.
The State parking contractor, HBA Parking System Inc. will be offering tailgaters an additional option to pick-up their parking permits early at Garage E on Wednesday, November 22nd from 6pm â 8pm for those not wanting to go out on Thanksgiving Day. Garage E is located at 1604 Colorado St. Please note this option is just to pick-up parking permits early â it does not allow early access to the lots.
Good luck out there!Â

OmniGo Antenna Review
Some day when you get past half-assing your tailgate, you will slowly start to upgrade equipment. When the day comes, youâll want to prioritize TVs and satellite dish set-ups. For years, weâve depending on the Tailgater from Dish Network, as it is super portable, has an auto-finder signal, and you can sign up for per-month subscriptions. King manufactures most of these products and since itâs our go-to brand, we always keep an eye on their new products. Recently, they came out with the OmniGo antenna, so we gave it a whirl.
First off, if you are looking to start taking a TV set-up to a tailgate, a great place to start signal-wise is with an HDTV antenna, not a full-on satellite dish, as this is a much bigger investment ($300+). In the past, weâve used cheap, indoor, directional antennas like ones from Amazon and Wal-Mart to get by. And honestly, we didnât really know the difference between directional and omnidirectional antennas so we went cheap. We wonât go into the boring details of the difference but you can see that here.
All you really need to know is that omnidirectional antennas are able to access and grab all surrounding signals in all directionsâyou wonât need to move rabbit ears to access different channels.
At 10âW x 10âL x 2âH for the antenna head and 25âW x 22âL x 37âH for the tripod this antenna doesnât take up much space.
As mentioned, we saw that King introduced a new product called the King OmniGoâą, an omni-directional antenna. We thought it would be a good potential foray into an HD antenna upgrade. So we got our hands on one and we gave it a try.Â
To start off, we tried this at home, where we have a flat directional antennas that struggle to lock in strong signals for our local channels. It should also be noted that these cheaper ones do not have amplifiers. But at least we have something to compare it to. We also tried it out at an event in October, with similar results.
Out of the box, thereâs a pretty comprehensive kit for the OmniGo antenna. That is, it includes:Â
KING OmniGo Antenna
Tri-Pod Mount
Magnetic Vehicle Mount
Power Injector
Power Supply
12V Auxiliary Power Cord
25â Coax Cable
Carry Bag â definitely checks the portability box!Â
The antenna comes with all accessories including a magnetic mount thatâs perfect for a parked car.
We fired up this antenna pretty easily, and tested out the tripod just âcause. Itâs a basic, easy set-up.
Immediately, the signals were much stronger than the others weâve used in the past. We had no trouble locking in a signal with no annoying static interruptions. When we hooked up our old antennas, not only did we have issues with signal locking, but signal strength. We had to move the antenna a bit to fine tune the clarity of nearly every channel. Annoying. So the OmniGo was a clear upgrade/successâespecially since it actually picked up MORE channels than our regular antenna.
The carrying case is a great way to store all OmniGo accessories.
We also appreciate that the kit came with a carry bag, because as most tailgaters know, keeping everything consolidated is difficult with bins and bins of wires/equipment accessories. All and all, weâd highly recommend this antenna because it was:Â
Super easy set-up
Super efficient (up and running quicklyâset it and forget it)
Portability
Our only concern on the product was price. While it retails for $129.99 weâve seen it for sale for as low as $85âŠwhich is not cheap for HDTV channels. Still, for the tailgater thatâs traveling to many locations, and for those starting to add a TV to their tailgate party, this is a great start. If it works out and you are ready to step-it-up even more, than the Tailgater is probably your next best bet.
Wanna try it out for FREE? Weâre giving one away! Take a look.

Redi-Tray Product Review
Weâre in midseason form since itâsâŠwell, midseason. And weâre back at it again checking out new tailgate accessories for the season. Today we looked at the Redi-Tray from Kamp-Rite.Â
This multi-function mini table top has a bracket attachment that can be used on most collapsible tailgate chairsâquad-style and director-style. This tray has flexible uses including setting up as a small table to eat, or turning vertically as a stand for a tablet or phone. Here are the specs:
Product Specifications:
Tray Dimensions: 15.8âł x 10âł
Post Length: 8.25âł
Weight: 2.3 lbs.
Weight Capacity: 10lbs
Color: Gray
Just like all products we evaluate, weâre looking at 2 main things: Function & Portability.Â
Portability:
Any seasoned tailgater knows setting up, breaking down, and the overall portability of all  equipment is super important. You should really spend your time enjoying the tailgate, not messing around with everything else. We had mixed feelings on the Redi-Tray in this area.
While itâs super compact design wonât take up much space, and the bracket can remain on the chair when breaking those down, the set up wasnât as quick as we hoped. Yes, it only took a minute or two, but there seems to be some room for improvement. The bracket has âgator teethâ locking mechanism to stay attached but it took a little work to get it on there. And it wasnât the most intuitive.
That being said, once attached, it was solid. It would have been nice if there was an easier clamp or vice grip style attachment that would be a little more user friendly, and wouldnât require instructions.
Function:
It would be nice if the brackets were easier to attach but it does pivot in many directions once you get it on there.
We liked having an attachment table accessory instead of only a full-on table. So many people at our tailgates awkwardly eat with a plate in their lap, and this really helps. Ditto on people having to stand and eat. The table itself had enough room for a paper plate and a drink to rest comfortably. Thereâs a slip-guard piece that can switch to top and bottom rim areas, preventing the chance that your plate will end up in your lap. All bets are off if you are on beer #5 though.Â
Some fans with lesser-interests in the tailgate itself (say, your tweens who live on their phones) would appreciate the table for their mobile device. You can fit a small laptop on there, but if people are that dedicated to their devices on game-day, they probably shouldnât be there in the first place. Still, it COULD do that.
It would be really great if the Redi-Tray could also swivel down the side of the chair, completely out of the way like those tables in grade school but it wasnât a huge deal.
The adjustable height functionality was a pleasant surprise though. It can adjust to kids or adult heights fairly easily making it flexible for all tailgate party guests.Â
Overall:
The overall quality of the product was very good. It is very sturdy, will hold up for years, and most tailgate guests will appreciate it. While itâs not a critical tailgate accessory, it is a solid ânice-to-haveâ at a tailgate and worth consideration. And for under $30, itâs an inexpensive investment for your event, especially where space is at a premium, which in Austin, and for Longhorn tailgating, is paramount. Weâll call this a 3.5 out of 5 stars overall. We wouldnât rush out to get them, but we may pick up a few for a bit of an upgrade.

4 Longhorn Tailgating Must Haves 4 National Tailgate Weekend
National Tailgate Weekend is October 7-8, 2017 and just in time for the next Texas Longhorn Football Game. By then the weather will break and weâll be turning up our tailgate to ELEVEN!
Kansas State is coming to town and the âHorns have revenge on their mind after last yearâs loss. So how do you do a Longhorn Tailgate right? Gotta get the right gear! Hereâs some of our favorite tailgate must-haves for our #nationaltailgate and all-out Longhorn awesomeness.
Shade Tent(s)
In the Texas sun, you gotta have shade and a defined space each and every game. The best way is with a Longhorn branded canopy/tent. We donât recommend the cheap 10Ă10 tents because they rarely last a season with the wind. They also donât generally offer UV protection. So consider a quality Texas Tent like this one from Logo Brands. $200 on Amazon or their website. You get what you pay for.Â
Comfortable Seating
In Austin we tailgate ALL DAY so you gotta take a load off from time to time. Besides shade, chairs are the next biggest must-have. Make sure to get ones with beer-holders like these causeâŠwell, why else are you at a tailgate? And trust us, those $8 ones at Home Depot or Academy will not make it more than a few games. All day on Amazon or here. And as a bonus, you can bring your pet along with this chair attachment we reviewed a while backâthe Wrapsit.Â
Big Cooler + Little Cooler
Multiple coolers?! Yep. It helps separate adult beverages from kid-friendly ones. It also allows multiple access points for your larger tailgates. For the hard-sided, we gotta go local with a Texas Longhorn branded Yeti Tundra. They really hold up to the heat and will last forever. For soft-siders, hard to go wrong with the super portable Longhorn Glacier Cooler. Â
Tailgate Games
In Texas, washer pits and cornhole games are a staple, and thereâs lots of options these days for tailgating. Since youâve gotta represent the âHorns on National Tailgate Weekend, you gotta go with the branded cornhole game. These collapse down and are light-weight so itâs what we prefer. Washer pits arenât the most kid-friendly if you only have 1 game, make it count. If you donât feel like buying them outright, we rent them!
The Tailgate Toss Game, A.K.A. Cornhole, A.K.A. Bean Bag Toss is a must for tailgating or backyard fun. Fairly low chance of shooting your eye out. Weâve also got washer pits.
Now get out there and represent the Longhorns next weekend! #nationtailgate #Hookem

Guac-Lock Product Review
Will the Guac-Lock hold up to itâs promises or will guacamole browning get the best of our dip?
No tailgate is complete without food and drink. So anything that is portable, and helps keep food fresh, weâre always open to taking a look at. Today, we came across the Guac-Lock. This container system is obviously intended for guacamole dip, but works with any dips. Guacamole is our go-to dip for BBQs and tailgates in Texas so we were pretty curious about the Guac-Lock.
Itâs designed with the intention of keeping guacamole from browning, which there is no conventional cure for. And no, leaving the seeds in the guac does not help!
When we make our guacamole, we usually put it in a plastic container, stuff it with Saran Wrap. It helps keep the browning at bay, as the main culprit is exposure to air. Itâs a bit messy our way, and a pain when we open it and try to re-close. So we gave the Guac Lock a try and compared it to our method, and a method of just a normal container.Â
Guac-Lock, Saran Wrap method and Tupperware method.
As you may expect, the container with no Saran Wrap but an air-tight lid led to browning within a few days. Our Saran-Wrapped method held up pretty well, lasting several days past the container version. And last but not least, the Guac Lock. It definitely held up to its promisesâit staved off guacamole browning for a week+, though I wouldnât recommend eating it past day 4. It easily surpassed the others in preventing browning or any separation of ingredients. Clearly, there is something to this.
The key to the Guac-Lock is the âelevatorâ that pushes the dip up to eliminate air in the container.
Itâs design pushes out nearly all air before closing, which was the big difference here. And when opening and re-closing, it adjusted to the disappearing amounts of guacamole by pushing the bottom piece (they call it an âelevatorâ) up before closing and locking the lid. This was much easier to use than trying to re-apply Saran Wrap after each use. And certainly more secure.
Technical Details:
Measures 4 3/4âł x 3 1/2âłÂ tall
Weight: 8 ounces (container only)
Made from shatterproof, odor-proof, stainâresistant and BPA free plastic
Manufactured by Casabella
We also tried out the Guac-Lock container with platter display for chips, veggies, etc. This makes for a nice catch all for chips and dips and makes a nice display at a tailgate.
Overall weâd give it 4 out of 5 stars for tailgate usage. It would be 5 stars but we wouldnât consider it an absolutely critical piece for a tailgate party, but a nice to have since it works pretty well.

Grill Accessories: Grill Pinz
Grill Pinz are made from food-grade stainless steel and a solid substitute for those bacon-wrapping fans.
Just weeks away for the 2017 Texas Tailgate season and weâre checking out a few more products that we can add to our Tailgate Parties. Today, we are all in for a treat. Bacon is a must-have for grilling and therefore a must-have for a tailgate. But there arenât too many tools to keep bacon in the mix. Thatâs why we were intrigued by a new product that came across our grillâGrill Pinz.Â
Plenty of recipes start with âBacon-WrappedâŠâ and in the past, toothpicks were your best bet for securing bacon. But you know the story, inevitably, a toothpick hides after youâve grilled something up, or splinters off, or just gets charred to bits and gets in your food.
Well, Grill Pinz hope to solve those issues. Grill Pinz are food-grade stainless steel âpinsâ that hold your bacon in place while you grill. So, letâs say you wrap a steak in bacon, you can add a few Pinz to keep the bacon in place, and you can easily find and remove them safely once youâre done cooking.
For our trial recipe, we made our jalepeno poppers using the Grill Pinz instead of toothpicks and it went smoothly. We liked that they were easy to spot and remove after grilling. And love that cleanup was just throwing them in the dishwasher.Â
When we first saw these, we were thinking they were a little larger than you needâbut once we started using them, it made more sense. The pin head allows you to easily push them down and also keeps the bacon pressed down firmly when attaching to meats. Once we tried them, it was also helpful that the pin itself, would never be lost.Â
All-in-all, we think the Grill Pinz are are a 5 out of 5 stars. They were easy to use, portable, and helpful in bacon wrapping emergencies. My only gripe is that not all grilling requires bacon, so itâs not an every down kind of tool. Fingers crossed they will make custom logoâed versions soonâŠcause a POW! Logo or Longhorn one would be SWEEEEEET.Â
If you are on the look-out for a bacon-friendly grilling accessory this tailgate season, you can buy Grill Pinz on their website or on Bacon Addicts for $15.99 per set.

Tailgate Review: Wrapsit
We are always on the look out for fun and new items for tailgating during the off-season so here we are again, blogging about a new product.
Anyone who has lived in Austin for any length of time knows what a pet-friendly city it is. We canât help it we love our pets as much as we love tailgating. So when we came across the Wrapsit, we had to give it a try.Â
The Wrapsit secures to any tailgate chair with velcro on the corners.
This is the first tailgate-friendly, collapsible, pet crate weâve ever seen. Itâs specifically designed for people and pets on the goâcamping, backyard BBQs, and of course our favorite, tailgate times. Itâs different from a normal collapsible pet crate because the Wrapsit fits perfectly on folding tailgate chairs, and allows you to safely house your pet on game-day.
In addition to it being fully enclosed and keeping your pet safe, it has multiple pockets for pet and people-friendly accessories like sunscreen, water bottles and more. Pets will benefit from the shade from the chair to help keep them cool throughout the day.Â
The portable pouch is about 6âł long as easy to carry by hand or attached to your collapsed tailgate chair.
Since we donât have a dog, we tried it out on our Siamese Lynx, Malcom. It was bigger than his collapsible crate and he loved it, and we all know they can be pretty darn picky. The Wrapsit opens to about 5 cubic feet, which was plenty of room for our 12 pound fur baby. A small dog is a much more likely candidate for this accessory but it provides enough room for any small animal to walk around a bit, and lay down comfortably. In fact, when we brought it in to the house before putting it away, he kept dragging his toys in it. So thatâs a good sign.Â
Malcolm seemed at home in the collapsible pet-crate.
General Specs:
In-use measures 22 x 21.5 x 18 inches; 2.5 pounds
Heavy, waterproof (620D, coated polyester)
Extra pockets on wrapping panel
PVC mesh windows
Large zippered opening
Handle & shoulder strap
Proâs:
Extremely portableÂ
Doesnât take up a bigger footprint than your tailgate chair already does
Easy to set upâin fact after we attached it to the folding chair we simply left it attached so that it was ready to go for the next tailgate.
Conâs:
After sitting in the chair for a while the Velcro can start to pull at the sides of the chair a bit. Not a big deal, but the extra layer of nylon that covers the seat of the chair is a little uncomfortable right out of the box. It probably loosens up after a few uses.
Overall, we think this is a pretty great product. If you love your pet the Wrapsit is a great way to not only spend more time with them on gameday, but also keep them cool and safe around a tailgate party.
Consider it for your tailgate needs. You can purchase it on their site here or on Amazon.

Irish Beef Stew
Slow-cooker Irish Stout Stew is on the menu for late fall with the help of the Wonderbag for transport. So we thought we would give it a try and make sure itâs a good addition for our tailgates. Turned out to be really goodâhearty and delicious. This recipe does not require a Wonderbag, it can be made on the stove just fine.

Crock Pot Alternative
Every off-season we look for new products to add to the tailgate fold and keep our eyes peeled for new ideas. Some are good while some fall by the wayside. Up today, is the Wonderbag. I know, what the hell is a âwonderbagâ?! It calls itself a ânon-electric slow-cooker.â Skeptical? Yep. So we gave it a test run on a couple of recipes and hereâs what we found.
We started the testing with an Irish Beef Stout Stew, which turned out to be pretty hardy and delicious.
The basic idea is that you start cooking something in a potâsay a gumbo, queso, chili, etc, bring it to a boil, bag it in the wonderbag (with no electricity), and it continues to the cooking process by sustaining the heat levels for up to 12 hours. Candidly, we only tried 2 recipes that required up to 3ish hours of sustained heat. We started with an Irish Beef Stout Stew, knowing it needed to continue to âcookâ for 3 additional hours after taken off heat. But dammit, it worked.Â
We started with a beef stew per a recommended recipe. After prep and cooking it on the stove for less than an hour, we pulled the pot off the burners, slid it into the wonderbag, used the cover attachment, and bungied it up nice and snug, as directed.
The Wonderbag was simple to useâdrop the pot in, cover, use the bungies to tighten and let it sit.
It seemed completely ridiculousâŠat first.
I mean, look at it, the wonderbag is a puffy, giant, scrunchie-looking âbagâ that fits a large pot. Still, itâs filled with beads of insulation and a heat tolerant fabric. Itâs basically the Yeti Coolers of non-conventional crock-pots. It totally sustained the heat for the 3 hours. When I opened the top I figured it would be luke warm at best, but to my surprise, it felt as hot as when I pulled it off the stove. Not even kidding, I had to use pan holdersâ3 hours later!
Inexplicably, it worked. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
Freakinâ works. Crazy insulation sustains heat long through tailgate times (and supposedly up to 12 hoursâthough only tested to 3 hours)
No electricity needed. This is great for prepping at home before a game, then finish cooking at the tailgate. Also great for quesoâŠsustained heat without having to plug in a crock-pot
Excels in transport. While it has a big footprint in a car or truck, there is zero chance it spills. So, portable-ish
For $50-$65, itâs a reasonable price point
Lots of colors and sizes to choose from
Cons:
Itâs puffy. It gets pretty compact when not in use, but during use, itâs a bit bulky
Recommended trivet before placing your pot in it, for stability
Lid could be easily lostâŠwould be nice to have it connected to the base, but not a huge deal
We prefer compact, efficient things at all costs since there are so many things to pack for tailgate times. This is not compact.
Realistic Uses:
Tailgate use is limited to queso, chili, stew, etc, if you have an extra half table to dedicate to it
While not super compact, itâs PERFECT when a generator is not an option
Any potluck that requires driving
Camping
Under the right circumstances, we would use it. But itâs not a tailgate supply staple. I think 2ish games out of the 6 home games we will bring it along.
Overall, weâd give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Sidebar:
Weâve yet to review a potential tailgate product with any focus on providing additional uses and benefits to a less developed country and their struggling communities. This is the exception. The wonderbag has a foundation that supports and works with these communities to help with food prep and sustainability of resources. Itâs a huge perk and applause for seeing the potential impacts of a product with non-conventional cooking methods and applying that to bettering lesser fortunate parts of the world, and the people living there. Check out their efforts.

Ingredients
1/2 tbsp. Olive oil
1 cup Frozen hash browns
8 oz. Cooked ham, chopped
12 Eggs
1 tbsp. Taco seasoning or your favorite salsa
1 (4.5 oz.) can Green chiles
2 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
8 Flour tortillas
Instructions
Cook the hash browns for about 1 minute in olive oil in a large skillet. Add ham and continue cooking for 8-10 minutes.
While that is cooking, whisk together the eggs and taco seasoning. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet with the cooked ham and hash browns. Cook until eggs are done. Add the green chiles, cheese and cilantro.
Place some of the egg mixture onto warm tortillas and roll up like a burrito. Wrap in aluminum foil and store in a cooler until you are ready to go.
When you are ready to eat your burritos place the burrito, still wrapped in the foil, in hot coals until they are heated through.
