Vincent Cacchione is a writer, songwriter, and producer with a wide-ranging set of skills and credits. From indie rock to fiction podcasts, Vin’s fingerprints are all over the industry.
His work in podcasting began in collaboration with Julian Koster on the magical Orbiting Human Circus podcast for Night Vale Presents and WNYC. He has since become a go-to collaborator in the NYC podcasting scene, working with teams large and small to bring you shows like The Space Within, Cancellation Island, Anthem: Homunculus, Meet Cute, Welcome to Night Vale, and the Webby Award-winning Conversations With People Who Hate Me.
He is currently developing a podcast with counter-culture writer Larry “Ratso” Sloman based on Ratso’s 17+ hours of never-before-heard Leonard Cohen interviews, as well as The Story I’m Telling You, a hybrid documentary and scripted memoir based on a cassette he discovered of his father Gino’s unfinished plans for a memoir film.
Vin’s background in music, music production, and fiction podcasting helped him cultivate a niche but diverse set of skills including audio engineering, writing, directing actors, scheduling productions, and being a one-stop post-production shop (sound-design, score, editing, and mixing).
Vin is a Podcasting Swiss Army Knife able to lead a large, high-budget production team or one-man-banding an indie podcast. He has an intimate knowledge of every phase of turning an idea into audio magic from writing and editing to pre-production, working with actors, and post-production.
He has recently produced and co-composed the score for Jessica Chastain’s award winning show for Audible and Topic Studios The Space Within. On The Space Within, Vin took the lead on the show’s production shepherding the series from script to final master, while being the glue between the writers, director, actors, and post-production team. He also co-composed the score with Jeff Tobias.
For John Cameron Mitchell and Michael Cavadias’ Cancellation Island (a co-production of Topic and iHeart), Vin was a one-man, audio-producing band, manning the project from it’s live recording at the Bell House through ADR sessions, edit, sound design, score, director’s notes, and final mix.
He recently wrote the songs and produced the audio for Jacquelyn Landgraf’s heart-warming It Makes A Sound series, starring Annie Golden. And he is the co-founder of The Drama Queenz a pre-teen theater troupe, where he and his partner Magali teach children the art of staging an original musical. He is one of only a few people on earth who can say he has written three musicals with a bunch of ten year olds.
Vin is also a published songwriter with the Concord Music Group and fronts his own indie-pop band, Caged Animals, who have released several albums on the UK’s Lucky Number Music.
Vin is devoted to helping artists and creative teams realize their goals because he is an artist himself and his core collaborative spirit is enthusiastic, supportive, and adaptable.
Recently, Vin has been working on podcasts for Audible, iHeart, WNYC, Meet Cute, Night Vale Presents, and Topic Studios. His credits include:

“I love to think creatively about other artist’s work,” says Vin, “to study their intentions, get into their process, and figure out the best way for these ideas to present themselves on a recording.”
It is from this attitude that Vin’s work attracts a diverse roster of talent. Throughout the last seven years he has also worked with actors, writers, and musicians like Jessica Chastain, Bobby Cannavale, Holly Hunter, Michael Shannon, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jo Firestone, Josh Fagin, Greg O’Connor, Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor, Amy Sedaris, Noah Galvin, Glenn Close, Julian Koster, Dylan Marron, Julie Doiron, John Cameron Mitchell, Turner Cody, M. Lamar, Sunflower Bean, Charles Bradley, and Yasmine Hamdan helping them to achieve their creative goals in the studio.
His work as producer on Larry “Ratso” Sloman’s new album Stubborn Heart gave Vin the opportunity to work with the legendary Nick Cave and Warren Ellis of The Bad Seeds.
It’s a great honor to help someone achieve their creative goals. Drop us a line and tell us about your project!
Testimonials
“In all my years of recording Vin is possibly my favorite engineer I've ever worked with. He has that special something in an engineer: A quiet positivity and energy that just makes good things happen. Working with him is so comfortable because you just know you're in truly capable hands. He really listens to both you and the music, and responds with easy creativity and skill no matter what the recording calls for.”
Julian Koster / The Orbiting Human Circus, Neutral Milk Hotel
Vin is the ever-enthusiastic, supremely talented go-to sonic maestro of New York-based podcasts. His fingerprints are all over the industry!
John Cameron Mitchell / Cancellation Island, Anthem: Homunculus
Working with Vincent Cacchione is a true delight. He is an angel who has never missed a deadline, always comes to the table prepared with his own ideas while still being receptive to the ideas of others. More than anything though, Vin is a true delight to be around. Any project will be made better from his involvement.
Dylan Marron / Conversations With People Who Hate Me
“I wouldn’t have ever made my album if not for Vin. My original intention was to demo some of my songs and send them out to my famous friends to get them to record them – a sort of tribute album to myself a la Kinky Friedman. But after the first demo Vin said, “Don’t send this to anyone. You can sing. You can do it yourself.” He’s always positive, always upbeat in the studio. But don’t mistake his kindness for weakness – he can be a cold-blooded assassin in service of the song. I couldn’t think of anyone better to be stranded on a desert island with, with only a laptop, some instruments and Logic Pro... Hey, maybe that’s where we’ll do the next album!”
Larry “Ratso” Sloman / author and singer of Stubborn Heart album
Vin is an exemplary, versatile and exuberantly collaborative composer, musician, sound designer and all around one-of-a-kind wizard.
Stephen Winter / Adventures In New America
Once or twice a week I work myself up into a panic that the WORLD will find out what an asset Vin is on a creative team and we'll lose him to more expansive projects. He never complains. I've tried to trick him into complaining and no dice. We'll tell him the feel of what we're looking for, maybe play some ancient source stuff for style -- he'll come back with the exact right style and feel. When he has a strong decision about a choice he'll argue for his point, but he'll also concede his point if it goes another way, and both without getting his ego involved. I really enjoy working with Vin and I don't want you to take him away from us.
Tristan Cowen / Adventures In New America
Collaborating with Vin has been one of the great artistic boons of my career. Working with him as my sound designer/engineer for It Makes A Sound has been a master class in audio storytelling, and he is right now setting the bar for the highest quality podcasting. Vin also helped me realize my vision for an original soundtrack album of the show, as co-producer / engineer / mixer / musician-extraordinaire. It is easy to trust Vin's expertise---he can do anything. He tunes into your ideas and specifically facilitates your project with ease and sensitivity. The frequency of creativity and inspiration is always set to high when working with Vin. His passion for music, passion for sound is intertwined with his deep rigor and patience to hear it at its best. Work with Vin, and you are entering into a joyful, big-hearted creative process toward excellence.
Jacquelyn Landgraf / It Makes A Sound
“Working with Vin is so exciting because he is a great musician with a great ear! He has lots of tricks up his sleeve.”
M. Lamar
“Vin's ears are superb and he knows just when to push and when to lay back to get the best results. He draws from a wide range of musical knowledge and influences and is always open to new ideas. He's a great dude - the Bob Johnston of Bushwick.”
Turner Cody
"I've never been more proud of my work than hearing Vin's mixes of our latest album, Alien Ocean. We took our self tracked songs to him and he made them thump and shine like we didn't know possible. Revisiting these tracks I experience a feeling I never thought possible, that they are truly finished and could sound no better. There is no one I've ever worked with that I would recommend with more confidence than Vin. Not only does he bring a deep knowledge and love of music and sounds, he is a thoughtful and communicative listener. I cannot wait to mix our next album with Vin!"
Frankie Sunswept
“Vincent Cacchione is a natural collaborator. His magic is the way he gets inside your songs and makes them sound like they were meant to be. Dynamic producer. Meticulous engineer. His multi-instrumental skills are a huge bonus.”
Dan Penta
“Vin is one of the most knowledgeable and attentive people I've ever worked with. He gives helpful suggestions, listens to your concerns, and works hard to make sure you get exactly what you're after.”
Grant Stewart (Myrtle Beach film)
“I feel so at ease when working with Vin. I appreciate and value his suggestions, extensive technical knowledge, and positivity, and I'm excited to reach out to him anytime I need recordings mixed."
Becky Lovell of Dessert Station
“As a producer/musician, I've worked w/ Vin during many steps of the process: from pre-production demos, to tracking, midi programming, and mixing. His skills as a multi-instrumentalist are a great service for many genres from singer-songwriter, rock bands, & full electronic productions. For clients w/ smaller budgets, he even has great mastering services too.”
