PragerU at it again...
Once again Prager pops up where my eyes can see it, and once again I wish to use my bit of writing skills to shed some light on the practices they use to brainwash the young folk and kids they target.
So, what is it about this time?
Basically, an article that tells a story of a bar shooting, showing how a man heroically saved many people there, and then it proceeds to shamelessly attribute it all to outdated vision of masculinity, as if a feminine man, or anyone else, couldn't be heroic, helpful, or kind.
Firstly, identity, gender, and musculinity have NOTHING to do with the incident. Any person can save someone else in crisis. They just borrowed that story for a far-right narrative.
They paint a story about the "hero" but understanding the perpetrator is often key to helping prevent future violence. Yet that is brushed aside, as if it doesn't even matter.
"The killer was 28 years old, lost, lonely and living with mom." This presents a highly oversimplified "male loner" stereotype. They brush away countless potential psychological factors or warnings, all for the sake of the narrative.
They also mention that society condemns the masculinity mentioned in the article. That is, however, a great case of a straw man argument. Society criticises toxic masculinity, not traits like bravery of selflessness. Prager is actively trying to paint a picture that all masculinity is labelled as bad by the opposition, which is simply not true.
The article also heavily relies on emotional manipulation. It paints the picture of all the "heroic firefighters" and tries to appeal to patriotism. That alone is very American and very single-minded. It offers no insight. Only tries to rally people behind false sayings.
"Only the educated classes have learned to sneer at it. Would that they never need it." Perhaps the most outrageous part of the whole article. Elitist scapegoating. They try to paint educated people as someone opposed to heroism, kindness, or self-sacrifice. This is a key example of an ongoing American war on education. Furthemore, it tries to make education seem as the enemy. "Don't trust schools. Trust us. We will teach you what you need." Yeah... right.
The article also suggests that since we can never get rid of all gun violence, efforts in trying to reduce it are pointless. This is their attempt at persuading more people to reject further gun regulations.
"Fortunately, Matt Wennerstrom and his friends missed the lecture that young women don鈥檛 require male protection." Sarcastically dismisses the point of feminist movements. Not being dependent on men does not mean never needing help or protection.
Overall, Prager is trying to take an unfortunate incident and a story of good deeds and twist it to force their outdated views of masculinity onto young men, and to push women back into the roles they had long before years of feminist struggle.
And all this they push onto kids in schools. Do not let them. Point at the evil. Do not let it twist words without consequence.
