Round 2 was a doozy to set the bracket for 😅. Spent almost 4 hours arguing back and forth on various match ups. Luckily we did have the data from the Round 1 polls to guide us a bit but even then it was rough. Gonna spend tonight getting a few more opinions before we officially set it and get all the polls in the queue. Can’t wait to see what y’all think of Round 2 this Tuesday!

Round 2 starts Tuesday April 30th!

With Round 1 having officially come to a close I just wanted to do a wrap up before we start Round 2!

First off, thank you to everyone who participated! Thank you for all the submissions, propaganda, votes, reblogs, and kind words! I can’t wait to continue this fun with y’all in this upcoming round!

Round 2 will have a total of 32 polls featuring the 64 hot vintage ladies that moved on from Round 1. All Round 2 polls will be posted under #tv ladies 2 as well as each ladies individual tag.

If you want to check which of your favs made it into Round 2 and which got cut please feel free to check that out with these two lists: winners and losers

If your fav didn’t make it past the first round, don’t worry I plan on having some fun side polls throughout the week after all Round 2 polls go up, like declaring the queen of the graveyard slot and perhaps some other fun one off polls. They may be gone from this tournament but they are not forgotten.

Finally, we have an FAQ in our pinned post! Noticed a lot of repeat questions during this first round so if you have a question please feel free to head over there first before sending an ask or commenting it. If it’s not there then please feel free to send in an ask! I am always more than happy to answer questions! I’ll usually just direct commented question to the FAQ or the ask box, that way if you do have something we haven’t yet covered we can post it as an ask so more people can see it in case they had the same question.

Singing and dancing. She’s so good at both that it looks effortless, until you go back over what she just did and are like “wait, that was so difficult and she NAILED IT” With comedy she’s like that too! Even when she’s playing a silly character, you always get the sense that she is in complete control of what she’s doing and what she’s trying to accomplish with the scene

Loretta Swit - (M*A*S*H) - I started watching MASH last year and was immediately struck by Swit's performance, it's genuinely one of my favorites on TV ever (the episode "The Nurses" is one of my favorites from her). In addition to acting, she's also been a competitor on a lot of game shows, is an animal rights activist, and wrote a book about needlepoint, which is rad.

Audrey Meadows - (The Honeymooners) - She had a great sarcastic bite that set her apart from the other TV housewives of the era. Pop culture remembers her show as the one where the husband threatens to hit her for laughs, but when I actually watched the show I was struck by how the joke was really that for all her husband's bluster, it was clear who really ran the household.

Soraya is the lady and she is the villain of the show, she used the guy, who is obviously younger to get revenge on her enemy who is his mom and dad. The girl in the wheelchair is her stepdaughter, who’s father she had killed to take their money and she hates her obviously. She hates all of them, especially after that kiss and vows to kill them all.

Hattie Hayridge - (Red Dwarf, Lexx, Jonathan Creek) - I'm nominating her for her performance as Holly in comedy sci-fi "Red Dwarf" in the late 80s and early 90s. Holly is the title spaceship's computer, but Hattie's performance is extremely human. She's not there to be sexy, she just is, along with being scatty, well-meaning and just as likely to get the crew into trouble as out of it. Her swansong comes in an episode frequently voted the best ever where she saves the hallucinating crew from killing themselves. We see her versatility as she plays several different versions of her character, including an alternate version who's human and casually seduces a heroic pilot. And finally, she's just damn funny. The actress is also wonderful with fans, going out of her way to spend time with them at conventions even when she's not being paid. I've been on the same dancefloor as her so I know this from personal experience.

Mag Ruffman - (Road to Avonlea) - Along with being gorgeous (those luminous brown eyes! that cute little nose!), Mag Ruffman played one of the best rolls on the long-running Road to Avonlea series. Her character Olivia King went from a wispy and submissive "old maid" to an independent and assertive businesswoman. Not only did Mag Ruffman portray that arc believably, she brings some of the show's best moments, dramatic scenes, romantic scenes, and (so often) hilarious scenes. Mag Ruffman is an excellent comedian and brings so much fun and silliness to a character who otherwise might have faded into the background. And while I can't include more recent propaganda, she's still gorgeous.

Anna May Wong Vs. Peggy Ashcroft

Anna May Wong - (The Gallery of Madame Liu-Tsong) - The groundbreaking Chinese-American star became the first Asian-American to star in a TV show with this series on the DuMont Network. Like most DuMont shows, no episodes survive, but we know from her other roles that Anna May Wong was indeed very hot!

Peggy Ashcroft - (The Jewel in the Crown, She's Been Away, The Wars of the Roses) - Peggy Ashcroft's brilliance needs no introduction. One the finest stage actresses to ever grace the British stage, Dame Peggy Ashcroft made several notable TV appearances, particularly in the mid and later eras of her career. In the TV adaptation of The Cherry Orchard (1962) she played Madame Ranevskaya, and while her performance was brilliant she cut an elegant, tragic, beautiful and somewhat foolishly carefree figure who instantly caught your eye. In the TV series adaptation of The Wars of the Roses (1965), she played Margaret of Anjou, going from naive youth to fierce warrior queen and bitter old age in a matter of episodes. It was a masterclass in Shakespeare on TV by one of the best Shakespearean actresses ever, a magnetic performance and she herself looked absolutely stunning. In the TV film "Caught on a Train" she played an elderly Austrian aristocrat, self centered, kind-in-a-weird-way, imperious and elegant. In the TV film "Cream in My Coffee" she was a sad married woman hoping that a holiday would build bridges in her marriage that broke down before it even began. The TV series The Jewel in the Crown was one of her best TV appearances ever where she played a slightly dotty retired missionary and her ultimate tragic end. Her swan song on TV was her final TV appearance in the the TV film She's Been Away where she played an old woman released from a mental asylum where she was locked in since her youth. Peggy Ashcroft looked stunning on TV and translated her wealth of stage experience into her television performances, winning several BAFTA awards for Best Actress, being nominated for several more BAFTA's for Best Actress and was nominated for two Emmy's (one outstanding lead actress and another outstanding supporting actress) and a Golden Globe (also for outstanding lead actress) as well.
