hi! i just wanted to let u know that i love ur art and a lot of ur comics are very impactful to me :] recently in a ceramics project for school i was inspired by the school comic u made. the imagery of "i love you" on the palm was very meaningful to me so i added it to the palm of this hand sculpture, and cuz im a sentimental sap i had my friends doodle on it in sharpie. i thought u would like to see it since its cool when ur art inspires other people to make art, right?

the title is "Take My Hand"

(also when i submitted this piece for class i linked to ur comic (credit to where my ideas came from) but im also hoping my teacher reads more of ur work since i like it so much)

making yet another post because i haven't been able to get anything in the past 13 days and i just really, really want to keep making sales if i want to live without constant worry.

story is the same as always, i live with my single mom and my two siblings, i'm unemployed, ko-fi/commissions are my only source of income, i need to help myself and my family.

as an extra, my younger brother's laptop broke, so i'm buying him a new computer. that's going to cost me R$200 every month, on top of all my usual spendings. i really want to be able to do this, because my brother matters a lot to me.

that all said, i'm linking my ko-fi commissions here, i make a lot of art! i got a special $10 tier for simple doodle comms in case you dont have a lot of money, but i do nicer icons and fullbodies too!

but really anything helps, i can't overstate how anything i get from ko-fi makes my life infinitely easier. thank you for listening, and please share if you can!

Not to be a killjoy (though it is what I do best) but the unsafe and rough handling of a baby Pygmy hippo in a pretty substandard Thai zoo being meme-ed into something funny and cute really shows just how much groupthink plays into public perception of animal welfare.

Moo Deng shows avoidance, threat displays and stress around her keepers that are constantly man-handling her, blasting her with a hose and harassing her. The enclosure is mostly concrete, which is horrible for her soft feet. There looks to be some substrate but there doesn’t seem to be any areas for wallowing or deep water wading.

There’s also very easy access of this hippo to the public with no places to hide. I’d love if someone could shed more light on the enclosures but from what I’ve seen it’s not great.

Also the free contact and forcing into tubs that the keepers do is only going to create an avoidant and potentially aggressive and dangerous Pygmy hippo.

But the public happily overlook that because she’s cute. It’s a similar attitude with seals too.

Stop rewarding bad husbandry with clout. Baby animals deserve agency and respect and to grow up without getting harassed and feeling the need to defend themselves constantly.
