My MonHun take that will get me yelled at by hundreds if not thousands of monhun fans (esp any that came in from World and later):

I dont think the immaculately rendered food adds enough to the game to justify the amount of time the devs spend modelling and animating it all. Its very pretty and I can certainly appreciate the effort that goes into it all but...thats not what we're here for.

If they want to have a monhun that focuses more on the food and culinary aspects they should stop funneling money and dev time into HD food in the mainline games and instead just make a 'Monster Hunter Cooking Mama' or similar analogue. That last bit should be the real takeaway here.
