patrick stump was important to the scene because of the fact that he wasn't skinny. the scene had (and still has) a fuckton of fatphobia and it was really disheartening as a not skinny person to constantly get told i was 'too fat' to be part of the scene... but patrick was def not skinny and i just... wow. he made me feel like i had a place here. like i wasn't an outcast. like it was okay to not be thin. it's really lovely my goodness

We need to talk about how some of the FOB fandom treats Patrick.
I am on TikTok, and yes, that's where what I'm going to say happens most often. It seems as though most people view Fall Out Boy as just Pete, discrediting Andy, Joe, and Patrick.
Yes, Patrick is praised for his vocals, but nearly never his looks. While that's not inherently bad, he is already insecure. So, while his best friend is getting endless attention, he's only receiving recognition for his singing. This, I have noticed, is very fatphobic in some ways (I hate that word. He's not fat, but I have no other word to use).
The majority of edits I see of Patrick are solely soul punk era, when he was at his thinnest. Yes, he was very attractive then, but he's always been and always will be. More people need to acknowledge that.
It feels like the same way the My Chem fandom treats Gerard, praising him so heavily for revenge era, which was when he was thinner than usual. It's inadvertently, if not entirely, depending on the person, fatphobic. I love Patrick (and Gee), and I wish people would realize how attractive he is, outside of just the soul punk era.
As a girl with an ED who really appreciates body positivity, I know we need to be more positive to everyone!

do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets

her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.
