{♕♕} ╾ The skies above Viridian City seemed like a vast canvas painted in shades of golds and pinks, deepening steadily yet quickly as the sun began to dip below the tree lines surrounding the perimeter. The city made it’s gradual nightly descent into calm silence-- Green could sense the air was already preparing to grow still. Such times were typically considered peaceful to him, casting a shadow upon that ever boisterouse guise of his and allowing him to exist noislessly.
Yet, tonight the darkening sky brought with it a new, more pressing opportunity to him.
Green had been made aware of certain activities that seemed to be transpiring within the dimming alleys of his city-- activities that he found far too familiar. Illegal sales of Slowpoke tail, the tradings of Marowak skulls, and even the disappearences of trainers’ pokemon-- it was all colored with that terrible crimson and black that seemed so unwilling to stay buried.
Following the tips and trails of the local law enforcement, Green saw it best that he took care of the situation without the physical aid of the police. Large groups would cause a scene, and who was Green if he so willingly turned down an opportunity to flaunt his strength to those he deemed lesser?
Turning the corner to an alley located just before the Viridian Forest, Green already notices a moving shadow. He grabs a minimized pokeball from his belt, holding it tightly in his hand as he edged closer to the movement. It is far too dark to see any features clearly of the figure just yet, but the strands of hair that he could make out seemed all too sickeningly familiar.
“Hello there.” He finally says, standing behind the alleged culprit with a smile devoid of any good tidings. “And who are you, running around the streets of Viridian late at night for the past week, hm?” His voice is steady, yet the antagonization is clear.

kyokkou:
The first meeting of the day, the priority time slot, and he’s late.
As the Kanto regional president of Silph Co., Kiku was a very busy man most days– and with that level of busy came impatience. With each passing second, he considered simply canceling the meeting for the mere inconvenience of it! If this ran long, after all, it would ruin his whole damn schedule, including (and most importantly of all) his lunch hour. Ah, but the head office would tear him apart for it, and for what?
Kiku’s patience didn’t find relief in the door swinging open as it did; Green’s comment was as self-important as one might expect from a trainer of his skill and fame, thus testing the branch president’s composure further than his tardiness ever could. Worst of all, he had to hold his tongue.
If only you arrived on time, I would consider hurrying along with it.
Instead of speaking his mind, Kiku forced a rather empty smile.
“Of course, I completely understand how busy your day must be. It isn’t easy being a leader, whether it’s a regional branch of a company or a gym– though I suppose you must have even more pressing matters to attend to. From what I gathered in trying to reach out for this meeting, you aren’t always at the gym.”
There. That would have to do. His smile became a bit more genuine with his attempt at a slight, and he sat back in his chair with a light sigh. Wasting time on something as easy as a proposal for a partnership was a lot harder than it seemed, and it was all downhill once the annoying small talk stage ended.
“The company wants you to promote a new product– a sort of energy drink, but for Pokémon, and the demographic we’re looking at is incoming groups of new trainers. You know how impatient these kids are anymore, they want anything they can get their hands on to help them progress– and who better to promote it than a gym leader with such achievements as yourself?”
At the push of a button on a small clicker, the lights dimmed, shades drew themselves, and a projector lit up the screen on the far wall; it displayed the prototype packaging of the product, and the benefits of use.
“Since you’re in a hurry, I’ll spare you; the selling point of this is going to be the way it eliminates need for battle items. After consumption, it makes a Pokémon less susceptible to status conditions, and much more adept in battle. Recent in-house studies have shown less of a need for rest after consumption, and with the way these kids want to take on the challenge in as short a time as possible, it’s likely to be a hot item. Still, it’d be better if we had someone the kids look up to promoting it…”
The brief presentation was over as soon as it began, and Kiku placed the remote on the desk to signal that he was finished, and awaited an answer.
{♕♕} ╾ “The answer’s no.” The response comes blunt and quick, like a dull sword going for its unfortunate enemy, with little to no time for thought or deliberation. Green’s uninterest is plain upon his person as he leans back in his chair nonchalantly, resting his hands behind his head accompanied with a rather placid expression upon his face.
“Those kinds of things are lame, to put it plainly. They take the fun out of natural battling.” He turns his body away from the screen to face the window, looking longingly outside as if he were trapped in this building by some terrible force. He even dares to yawn, uncaring of Kiku’s eyes upon him-- as far as Green was concerned, his status meant nothing to him compared to his own, and thus did not warrant any more attention than Green gave presently.
“Things like that only harm the pokemon, not help it, and you can’t convince me otherwise. Young trainers need to learn to work with their pokemon, devise strategies and adapt to the tides of the battle! The last thing I’d do is teach them to rush into it with little to no care for the pokemon itself. It’s a team effort.” He notices his words are coming rather short from him, and he catches himself before he lets his emotions on the matter truly take over. He was speaking from experience, after all, and he found himself becoming more and more offended at even the insinuation he’d be willing to put other trainers along the same path.
“Besides,” He turns his body back to Kiku, being sure to take several slow breaths from his nose before meeting Kiku’s gaze. “I’m no mascot, nor a sell out. If it isn’t improving quality of life for both the trainer and the pokemon equally, then you can count me out.” An eyebrow twitches as a rather sudden change in emotions behind his eyes becomes far more apparent, creating a sharp glare that contrasts with the cool smirk upon his face.
“This is wasting both of our time.”

cruentu-s:
「 ❄ While he can’t help the playful snark at Green’s arrival, he’s unabashed in his love of Arcanine, cooing with joy and snugging into it’s neck fur for a quick and loving hug. There was rarely such plush warmth up here- he’s sure to give Green’s companion as much affection as he could manage in one loving motion.
“Oh– Oh.”
It’s a rapid rise and fall - chest blooming with thankfulness hearing of the homemade food they would soon devour, and just as quick of a nosedive at the mention of his mother’s letter.
… It was complicated. Or at least, that’s what he told himself.
He took a large step back from Arcanine, flopping into one of the two camping chairs and crossing his arms tight across his chest. It’s hard to face Green in earnest when he knows he’s right.
“It’s. It’s been, uhm– Yeah. It’s been a little bit. I know she does. Have you guys been hanging out. … I’ll get the fire going. Can heat up some stuff. And then you can catch me up. On you. And her. … Please.”
{♕♕} ╾ “I shouldn’t have to catch you up on her, though.” Green grimaces for a moment-- he felt as if he were sounding like Daisy with all of his scolding. Yet, the very idea that Red had been neglecting to contact his own mother irked him in ways he didn’t think ever would. Green himself owed quite a lot to Red’s mother as is; finding a rock to sit upon, he folds his arms across his chest with an agitated huff.
“Anyways, she’s doing fine. Everything in Pallet Town is as normal as always.” As he speaks, he begins to unload his bag of food, pushing Red’s share towards him. His own frown remains persistent, though it softens as he looks back towards Red’s face; he found it quite hard to hold anything against the other nowadays.
“The gyms under some construction, which is why I had the time to prepare so much and come up here. Your mom and I both figured it was time you had a taste of your home town, anyway. I imagine the food up here is absolute crap compared to her and Daisy’s specialties, and most importantly my own.” A haughty laugh follows his comment, and he sends his friend a wide smirk, absentmindedly handing Red his mother’s letter.
“Food from me is an honor, you know. You better savor it!”

crimsonie:
how long had it been already? red had known the very moment the dust had settled upon the battlefield on indigo plateau all those years ago, that the last hope of rekindling their childhood friendship had been lost. he still vividly remembered the feeling that settled into his guts afterwards, the commotion of the surrounding crowd and professor oak's praising words, most of which had blown right by him while he watched green turn into a blurry silhouette in the distance. just like that, the adventure they had started at the same time had came to an end.
and red had thought he would never see him again, other than perhaps a lucky glimpse out of his peripheral vision while visiting home. why was it that the thought of being strangers was worse than being enemies?
the loud, echoing landing of the pidgeot wasn't enough to pause the thoughts wreaking havoc in his mind. was green here to battle him? no, surely he would've proclaimed that intention already. surely he couldn't have made such a dangerous trip just to come find him.
those words just barely carried over, the howling wind doing them no favors. red could only muster a nod in return, carefully tugging his cap down in fear that the unintelligible emotions swirling in his mind would slip and tumble over, just to crash-land through his carefully guarded facade. only then he noticed pikachu's hostile reaction, and gave him a wordless gesture. seeming uncertain for a moment, pikachu finally turned, only to jump back on his trainer's shoulder, settling for simply scowling at green from his spot.
his mouth felt dry, the words he wanted to say piling up before he swallowed them back down, the other's comment finally making his posture shift. “ you should– wait until the storm settles, ” i want you to stay, the words never find their way out. “ there's a cave just over there. pidgeot should rest, too. ”
{♕♕} ╾ Green had already turned his back from Red to hop onto Pidgeot, feeling as if he had made some mistake by making the journey all of the way up here. The bitter, biting cold had little affect on him now, finding his face now numb to all outside forces from the sure embarrassment he was feeling at that point; it was unclear now as to whether the deepening red patches upon his ears and cheeks were due to the cold or from his flustered, beating heart.
Red’s words cause him to jump a little-- not just from the shock of what he says, but also from what feels like his heart daring to skip a beat, creating a painful twang in his chest in response to a yet unknown emotion. He is silent for a moment-- a hand grips at Pidgeot’s feathers, seeming to hold onto them for support as the world seems to spin around him. Being around Red any longer felt dangerous, like a taboo he shouldn’t cross at this time. And yet, the temptation was stronger than anything he had ever felt, pulling at the strings of his heart and soul as if Red were yanking him towards him.
“Alright... Maybe that’s a good idea.” He nods to him, pulling Pidgeot’s pokeball from his holster and calling her back for warmth and rest. He turns-- or rather, forces his body back to face Red, though finding it difficult to maintain any form of eye contact. He peers at Pikachu again, his eyes narrow and his brows furrowed as he pulls his scarf higher over his face. He peers at the cave Red mentions, and slowly looks back down, appearing as a nervous, anxious school boy.
“Will you... take me there? You know this land way more than I do, I trust you to lead the way.”

“Sorry but I’m new around here, would you mind giving me pointers?”
Ice Breaker Starters
{♕♕} ╾ "Pointers, huh? Well, it depends on what you're here for!" Green gestures to the streets that form Viridian City, as if he were showing off the glittering streets of a glorious metropolis akin to the likes of the fabled Elysium. His smile is as bright as the sun beaming above the trees of the Viridian forest, and he motions for Serena to follow him.
"We have quite a few tasty cafes, there's also the Pokemon Academy if you're interest in enrolling there." He is treading backwards, feeling no need to watch where he was going as he points out the landmarks worthy of interest. "We've got the Viridian Forest, of course, if you're looking to go hunting for something wild."
He stops suddenly in front of a building, and his formerly welcoming grin turns to that of a challenging smirk, knocking hair from his eye with a quick twitch of his neck.
"Or maybe you're interested in the gym, of which I'm the leader of? It's okay if you're not prepared though." He can't help but laugh, tapping a finger against his pokeballs attached to a strap that dangles form his hip. "So, what's caught your eye?"

subwaysboss:
“ With enthusiasm like that , you’re well on your way to conquering the heights of these railways. ” Now that the two had collided , they have officially crossed paths. Ingo was no stranger to witnessing the hype and excitement that trainers , as well as passerby , exhibit as they make their way through the infamous Battle Subway of the Gear Station. The Subway Bosses had a reputation , apart of that reputation was being stealthy and silent. Something they could not always help. In this regard , Ingo was simply making his way through , quiet steps couldn’t but mask themselves. But this young trainer’s yells , however , roared throughout the entire station. The conductor couldn’t help but follow the source of said roars.
“ Yes , I am. Although , I am only half of this station’s foundation. ” As one hand tips his cap in salutation , the opposite extends to the young trainer before him. “ I am the Subway Boss Ingo. It is always a pleasure to meet trainers with such passion and reputation as yours. ” The boss knew exactly who this traveler was. One would have to be living under a rock to not know the infamous Oak family. Just like this subway , their reputation was known throughout most regions.
{♕♕} ╾ There’s no hesitation as Green takes a firm grip of Ingo’s hand in excitement and greeting. His smile is wide and bright, the excitement as clear as day upon his face, and his body already shows the signs and symptoms of relentless eagerness.
“Oh man, oh man, you’re an absolute genius!” He enthuses; the look on his face and that gleam in his eyes partway resemble that of his own younger self; raving and gushing over the various trainers and gym leaders he would see showcased on television. Battling was his passion-- his calling, and to see it remixed and remastered in such a way only sent him into a boyish glee much like a trainer just beginning their journey.
It is only when the high of his euphoria begins its comedown when he truly recognizes Ingo’s words, and that self-seeking smirk tugs on his lips.

“Oh, so you’ve heard of me, huh? I mean, not that I’m surprised.” Green’s tone becomes self aggrandizing as his demeanor takes a complete 180; as if channeling the previous excitement into pure, raw haughtiness. Resting a hand upon a jutted hip, he dares to now look Ingo in the eyes.
“Tell me, just how challenging is this place?”
