Germany EU Blue Card: Benefits and Eligibility Requirements
Tumblr media
The Germany EU Blue Card is a work and residence permit, issued to highly skilled individuals, allowing them to work in professions where there is a shortage or which have future prospects. It allows the cardholders to live and work in Germany for up to four years at first and extend their stay if they still meet the requirements.
In Germany, the issuance of an EU Blue Card is contingent upon specific criteria. Many graduates view the Blue Card as their primary residence permit due to its straightforward and uncomplicated application process. With the exception of Denmark and Ireland, the EU Blue Card can be sought in all member states, each having its own set of application requirements and conditions.
Benefits of having an EU Blue Card in Germany
Here are the benefits associated with the EU Blue Card for Germany:
Unlimited Residence and Work Privileges in Germany: Having the EU Blue Card grants you complete and unrestricted rights to live and work in Germany.
Schengen Area Mobility: The EU Blue Card allows seamless movement within the Schengen area, removing the requirement for extra visas.
Comprehensive Benefits: Blue Card holders enjoy eligibility for an array of benefits, covering social, economic, unemployment, and healthcare support.
Route to Permanent Residency in the EU: Going beyond temporary residence, the Blue Card serves as a route for individuals aspiring to attain permanent residency in the European Union.
Unrestricted Work Rights for Spouse: Your spouse, when accompanying you, also gains unrestricted work rights, enhancing opportunities for both of you.
Eligibility Requirements to Apply For a Germany EU Blue Card
To be eligible for the Germany EU Blue Card Process, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
The applicant should possess a valid work contract or a binding job offer for highly qualified employment with a minimum duration of one year.
The applicant must meet the minimum salary threshold specified by the respective Member State.
For professions subject to regulation, the applicant must provide documents demonstrating compliance with national legal requirements.
In the case of unregulated professions, the applicant must present documents verifying the attainment of relevant higher professional qualifications.
Submission of a valid travel document, a visa application, or an already issued visa is required. Additionally, a valid residence permit or a national long-term visa, if applicable, should be presented.
Applicants need to provide proof of sickness insurance or evidence of the application for such insurance.
In addition, applicants must not pose a threat to public policy according to the assessment of the Member State. In some cases, the applicant may be required to disclose their address within the respective Member State.
How Can Indian Students Apply For An EU Blue Card?
Usually, international students are ineligible to apply for an EU Blue Card during their study period in Germany. Throughout their academic tenure, the only valid residence permit available to them is the "student visa." Upon completion of their studies at a German university, students have the option to extend their stay for up to 18 months to actively search for a suitable job in the country.
For Indian students to qualify for the EU Blue Card Germany from India, they must secure a job offer that aligns with the prescribed gross annual salary quota. It's essential to note that without a higher education qualification, it is not possible to obtain an EU Blue Card in Germany. Therefore, post-study work options are contingent upon meeting the educational criteria and securing employment that meets the necessary salary requirements.
How Long Is The Germany EU Blue Card Valid?
A Germany EU Blue Card has a maximum validity of four years. If a person’s employment contract is less than four years, the Card is issued for three months beyond the contract. Once the employment contract ends, one has three months to look for another job.
The opportunity to apply for permanent residence arises after 33 months of holding the EU Blue Card. However, if the individual possesses proficiency in the German language up to level B1, they can expedite the permanent residence application process and apply after 21 months.
