I suppose my inspiration throughout the last couple of months has been largely around the issues heavily weighing on my mind- the pandemic and the unrest in America. I thought Time’s recently released cover so accurately depicts the massive amount of work left for the incoming administration to deal with. Its like the reality check image versus all the inspirational ones that came out of yesterday’s inauguration.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how much time we have all been at home this past year...and about how profoundly important your house, apartment, cottage, muse, whatever you consider “home” to be, has become. The space itself, within the walls, many may be rethinking that space after going through this. Is it what you want it to look like, is it peaceful, does it provide comfort, is it enough space, what do your views look like from your windows? Everyone around the world has weathered this from their version of home, with different views to the outside world.

It was surreal to watch the siege on the Capital building, as an American abroad. Its just not something that happens in a democracy as established and strong as America and I thought this Newsweek article illustration really captured how fragile the US seems.

I thought this was a powerful image taken on Jan 6th when Trump supporter extremists waged an insurrection onto the US capital building and the congress men and women who were inside working on validating the results of the recent election.  Donald Trump has been waging war on the media since he came into office in 2016 and many of his “following” agree with his rhetoric that the news media is all fake news. It set a dangerous precedent that the new media, reputable ones, cannot be trusted.

Fab short animation submission for the WHO/ UN “Call Out To Creatives” in the spring of 2020 to spread the word on what the public can do to stop the spread of Covid. Matchsticks igniting one another until one steps out of line.

These are screen grabs from a short animated ad I saw on instagram by Dublin Simon Community, who provide help and services to the homeless or those at risk of being homeless. I thought it was a very timely ad, simple message and animation, but compelling.

Eating out and getting in a last pint before restaurants all close again tomorrow. Who knew this pic would be representative of a luxury item/experience in 2020.

As we have started talking about film poster design, I thought this was an interesting example of too much text in the design. Granted these are all critic reviews but I am guessing because they are centred around Michele Pfeiffer, they are plugging her starring celebrity status to generate attention/ interest in the film. (film poster found on metaflix)

After-eight logo integrated into a designer handbag. A little more expensive than the dark minty chocolates but way more decadent.

I feel seen. With the amount of eating in and meal preparation for a family of 4 over the last 9 months of Covid, I can confirm I am utterly sick of cooking...and yes I’d go so far as to say its a joyless task in my daily existence. Another brilliant illustration in The New Yorker magazine. These utensils literally look sad.

Wow....in one single pill I can get Sleep, Health, Performance, Focus, Beauty AND Immunity. It sure is a Miracle.
Ok, lets be real. This pill isn’t going to give anyone all of those things. However, it almost gains instant credibility by quoting a household beauty magazine like Vogue getting the viewer to ponder.... “if Vogue calls it a miracle pill, maybe it is?” I’m still wondering, at least....

Time Magazine’s November 16th, 2020 cover entitled "American Reality”. I thought this was a powerful design in a country that has never been more divided, quite literally ripped a part by political and ideological beliefs which tragically is being felt in how the US has responded to the pandemic. If a global killer affecting all of humanity across the planet can’t unite Americans, I am not sure what will.

I don’t enjoy walking in the wind, but what it produces can be lovely. I captured this for the lovely textures and lighting; so much natural action around me as I stayed still.

The latest New Yorker Magazine cover, Kadir Nelson’s “Election Results”By Françoise Mouly - Art by Kadir Nelson. I thought this so beautifully portrayed the feelings of hope many women and young girls felt as the first female, first biracial woman and first generation daughter of immigrants was elected to the office of Vice President.
