In 1954, Macy’s Herald Square in New York City employed Doberman Pinschers as night watchdogs, a practice starting in 1952. Initiated with six highly trained dogs from former Army K-9 Corps trainer John Behan, they patrolled silently, deterring theft with their disciplined presence.

The "Killdozer" was a heavily modified Komatsu D355A bulldozer built by Marvin Heemeyer, primarily made of steel and concrete. Heemeyer used two layers of half-inch steel plates with quick-setting concrete sandwiched between them to create a composite armor. He also added bulletproof Lexan to protect the cameras and built gunports for firing weapons
