I just would like to say that the fact people are genuinely believing that the Destructoid interview with Toby Fox is a LLM-made clickbait article just because of the possibility of Penumbra Phantasm not showing up in the game at all is kinda hilarious but also shows how deeply rooted a single, not really that well founded theory can become in a fandom and how, the very moment it's disproven, everything is done to disprove the disproven

Dumb bit in the trailers for the new MARATHON™ where they bookend it with an earnest repetition of the delusion Durandal disavows at the end of the original trilogy after realizing 54 and by extension the person playing the video game in real life have more control over his reality than he ever will.

I know this is supposed to be sort of cheeky like, "Oh look how hopeless this multiplayer grind is! You're trapped in the same cycle of chasing power that the deuteragonist of the original games was!" because theyre going for the punishing Tarkov angle. You are no longer god, you are beneath something that is controlling you and steering you through a situation you have no chance of ever rising above. From a narrative sense, that is a genuinely fun inversion and a good way to emphasize a new angle to an existing series you want to do something new and confrontational with!
Which is what I would say if this was not a looter shooter pvpve battle pass extraction game where everyone falls down and does the crawling revive animation before collapsing into digital cubes like Fortnite. The message is no longer in a narrative or gameplay context, it is now about how much control you will have over the games you buy. Durandal bookends the original trilogy with that message partially as a slightly trite yet narratively satisfying way to close the series but also to advertise that the game has a level editor where you can do anything you want with the game you own! You have the power!
The reversal of that is now a thoughtless admission that you will never have any power over this new game in the way that people used to. Any modding or attempt at customization outside of what is allowed will result in a ban or even legal action if your creativity is determined to be a threat to Sony's bottom line. If you do not have an internet connection you will not play the game you paid for, as you only paid for a license to play the game and not to own it. Additional expansions or Content™ you paid for will be taken away on a whim because the small indie company doesnt know how to compress their game and the only evidence it ever existed will be random youtube videos.
Bungie is god. Sony is god. Buy the new Rampancy Pass™ today and maybe youll have a chance to wake up from the dream. Metaphorically though, please dont walk away from the Playstation. Please don't stop spending money.

For dear Anon, while Bungie hasn't officially done anything, fans sure have!
The fhor Enforcer in Apotheosis X is exactly what you are looking for:
I would also put the M1-style Enforcer from Eternal too, but Lochnits doesn't have the extracted shapes yet, so, this is all you're getting
Has Bungie ever done anything about female Pfhor in Marathon? Asking for a friend.
anon.........

the entire mangadex purge and the discussion around piracy and copyright just reminded me of a quote: "culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it"
wish I had something more profound to say, but the entire thing just sucks and it's just the flailing of companies pulling back the leash of their property, even and especially at the cost of their own face

I'm curious. Reblog this if you know how to cook
I don’t even care if it’s macaroni, ramen or those little bowls you stick in the microwave. Please, I need reassurance that most of the population on tumblr WOULDN’T STARVE TO DEATH if their parents couldn’t fix them food or they couldn’t go out to eat.

What are your thoughts on Leela? I always wished we got to see more of her. She basically goes from being an important part in M1, to being referenced here and there in M2 and learning what happened to her, to just being referenced once(iirc) in infinity. Idk if there would be a good place for her, but I would just want a bit more time with her.
While I think she had a good and satisfactory role in M1, I feel Leela does get shafted pretty after hard after the first game; she could have been an interested counterpoint to Durandal's and Tycho's shenanigans during M2 and MI, and thankfully we do have Eternal to fill in the gap

A TL;DR of what I've been listening to lately
David Bowie/Genesis: Yeah you know, they had their ups and downs, but they ended up coming out with a solid amount of good alb
Yes: you fool. cretin of the fifth universe. they had the Video Killed The Radio Star guys for two albums. they brought together 7 people to play music for Union and made abhorrent shit. they plunged to the depths of prog rock and returned coalescent. worse? tales of topographic oceans is good actually. howe is actually a flesh puppet controlled by sheerwood. i get up. i get down.
#Yes#Genesis#David Bowie#i mean seriously who thought that Union was a good idea#an hour of the most boring AOE “prog rock” you could come up with#ELP made it better and they still died an awful death after Brain Salad Surgery

This is partly why I have generally stopped watching essay videos about shows and such/only interact with fanart of shows I am interested in, because it just becomes too obvious that people are trying to go for the most obvious answer for everything even if it doesn't make sense or entirely cheapens whatever impact the show may have. It just becomes very tiring, and even starts to piss me off how very obviously flawed theories end up becoming the key representation of something in the Internet.
i don't think ENA has "lore", i think it has themes and motifs, i think you're meant to analyze it on a more emotional level than people seem to do. why is it that ENA is always acting wrong according to other characters? why is her more positive demeanor endlessly accommodating even if she never gets a return on that politeness? what kind of experience might this be portraying? how does it make you feel?
#reblog#like digital amazing circus#and people theorising who is actually a player or an ai#so tiring#so#so tiring.
