From Tragedy to Triumph, A Street Art Memorial Rises

When Lili Trujillo the founder and Executive Director of STREET RACING KILLS; a nonprofit organization reached out to us her story, message and mission inspired us to collaborate and create a Street Art Light Pole Memorial. Every year we volunteer our time and talents to a community service project collaborating with organizations and people who share our same values and are aligned with our mission to better humanity, educate and impact local communities with positive visual messages, powerful art designs and mural paintings.

The project was to create a light pole memorial that pays tribute to her 16yr. old daughter Valentina who left this world unexpectedly the morning of December 7th, 2013 in a car accident. We listened to Lili about the the things Valentina loved and what she represented and came up with this vibrant, dynamic, and symbolic concept. Every single design element has meaning from the ascending rainbow, stars, unicorn, mermaid, to the ombre background. Lili and her organization got this approved by the city of Wilmington in Los Angeles, CA in 48hrs., which is a world record for a mural getting approval in Los Angeles. The minimum approval time in Los Angeles for the mural approval process is 1460hrs. / 2 months (Department of Cultural Affairs). And the longest approval we have seen is still pending going on 4yrs. and 2mths (wowzers!).

The event was a great success bringing awareness to the dangers of Street Racing and uplifting her beautiful daughter Valentina with a memorial street art mural making her memory last forever!

Type of sealant

Sealant or varnish type is just as important as paint type. For example, urethane makes surfaces easy to clean, but it performs poorly in direct sunlight.
