yoga is Balancing duality and doing ones work to the Best of ablilities
‘Yogaha karmasu kaushalam’ Skill in action is yoga
There is duality in the Human nervous system, one part of our nervous system tries to react to external stimulus, other part tries to normalise the nervous system and bring it back from reaction mode. Toning and Training of Vagus Nerve can help bring balance between these DUAL parts of our nervous system. Doing Yoga / Surya Namaskar / Meditation can help tone our Vagus nervous system. By doing Yoga we tend to do our work in the best possible way
Patanjali Yoga Sutra #16 - Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
‘Yogaha karmasu kaushalam’ Skill in action is yoga
As you all know, there are three gunas or qualities. They are sattva, rajas and tamas. Three gunas come into our life in cycles. When sattva comes, there is alertness, knowledge, interest and joy in everything. When rajo guna comes, more desires, selfishness, restlessness and sadness arise in us. When tamo guna comes, delusion, attachment, lack of knowledge, lethargy, all this comes. These three come in life, turn by turn. But one who is centered will watch, witness and just move through that very naturally, innocently, without being averse to it.
When aversion comes what happens? You are promoting it. Whatever you are averse to, you stay with it and whatever you crave for, you continue to crave for it. You allow the craving to continue. Without craving or aversion, moving through the guna is pure skill and that is yoga. It is said: ‘Yogaha karmasu kaushalam’ - the skill in action is yoga. Yoga itself means skill. Yoga is the skill to live life, skill to manage your mind, skill to deal with your emotions, skill to be with people, skill to be in love and not let love turn into hatred.
Everyone loves in this world. Everything loves, but that love does not stay too long as love. It immediately becomes hatred, almost immediately. But yoga is that skill, that preservative which maintains love as love throughout.
Question from the audience: Dear Guruji, if a habit is developed of separating oneself from everything in an artificial way, you will lose spontaneity, attunement with nature and will not be fully engaged in life by giving your 100 percent. How do you walk this tightrope? How do you know if you are too far from one side and the other?
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Dispassion does not divide you. In fact, it connects you. It connects you to the present moment totally. When you are not dispassionate, you are linked to the past or future. So, you are not connected to the present. Therefore, you are more divided.
When your mind is hoping for something or when you regret the past, you are not with the moment. But when you are centered, you are in the moment. So, when you are eating, you can taste every bite. You can enjoy every bite. Every look, every sight is fresh and new. Your love is like the first love. You look at everything like it is the first time.

yoga and modern medicine and duality
THE WHOLE NERVOUS SYSTEM, AND VAGAL NERVE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO DIFFERENT (DUALITY) FUNCTIONS, WHICH ARE NEARLY OPPOSITE, BUT COMPLEMENTARY OF EACH OTHER
THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF NERVOUS SYSTEM WHICH EXIHIBIT DUALITY ARE LISTED DOWN
The autonomic nervous system (ANS), sometimes called the visceral nervous system and formerly the vegetative nervous system, is a division of the nervous system that operates internal organs, smooth muscle and glands. The autonomic nervous system is a control system that acts largely unconsciously and regulates bodily functions, such as the heart rate, its force of contraction, digestion, respiratory rate, pupillary response, urination, and sexual arousal This system is the primary mechanism in control of the fight-or-flight response.
The autonomic nervous system is regulated by integrated reflexes through the brainstem to the spinal cord and organs. Autonomic functions include control of respiration, cardiac regulation (the cardiac control center), vasomotor activity (the vasomotor center), and certain reflex actions such as coughing, sneezing, swallowing and vomiting. Those are then subdivided into other areas and are also linked to autonomic subsystems and the peripheral nervous system. The hypothalamus, just above the brain stem, acts as an integrator for autonomic functions, receiving autonomic regulatory input from the limbic system.
Although conflicting reports about its subdivisions exist in the literature, the autonomic nervous system has historically been considered a purely motor system, and has been divided into three branches: the sympathetic nervous system, the parasympathetic nervous system, and the enteric nervous system. Some textbooks do not include the enteric nervous system as part of this system.
The sympathetic nervous system is often considered the "fight or flight" system, while the parasympathetic nervous system is often considered the "rest and digest" or "feed and breed" system. In many cases, both of these systems have "opposite" actions where one system activates a physiological response and the other inhibits it. An older simplification of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems as "excitatory" and "inhibitory" was overturned due to the many exceptions found. A more modern characterization is that the sympathetic nervous system is a "quick response mobilizing system" and the parasympathetic is a "more slowly activated dampening system", but even this has exceptions, such as in sexual arousal and orgasm, wherein both play a role
There are inhibitory and excitatory synapses between neurons. A third subsystem of neurons has been named as non-noradrenergic, non-cholinergic transmitters (because they use nitric oxide as a neurotransmitter) and are integral in autonomic function, in particular in the gut and the lungs
In neuroscience, an excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) is a postsynaptic potential that makes the postsynaptic neuron more likely to fire an action potential. This temporary depolarization of postsynaptic membrane potential, caused by the flow of positively charged ions into the postsynaptic cell, is a result of opening ligand-gated ion channels. These are the opposite of inhibitory postsynaptic potentials (IPSPs), which usually result from the flow of negative ions into the cell or positive ions out of the cell. EPSPs can also result from a decrease in outgoing positive charges, while IPSPs are sometimes caused by an increase in positive charge outflow. The flow of ions that causes an EPSP is an excitatory postsynaptic current (EPSC).
Although the ANS is also known as the visceral nervous system and although most of its fibers carry non-somatic information to the CNS, many authors still consider it only connected with the motor side.[10] Most autonomous functions are involuntary but they can often work in conjunction with the somatic nervous system which provides voluntary control.
Autonomic nervous system, showing splanchnic nerves in middle, and the vagus nerve as "X" in blue. The heart and organs below in list to right are regarded as viscera.
The autonomic nervous system has been classically divided into the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system only (i.e. exclusively motor). The sympathetic division emerges from the spinal cord in the thoracic and lumbar areas, terminating around L2-3. The parasympathetic division has craniosacral "outflow", meaning that the neurons begin at the cranial nerves (specifically the oculomotor nerve, facial nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve and vagus nerve) and sacral (S2-S4) spinal cord.
The autonomic nervous system is unique in that it requires a sequential two-neuron efferent pathway; the preganglionic neuron must first synapse onto a postganglionic neuron before innervating the target organ. The preganglionic, or first, neuron will begin at the "outflow" and will synapse at the postganglionic, or second, neuron's cell body. The postganglionic neuron will then synapse at the target organ.[cit
------
The vagus nerve (/ˈveɪ.ɡəs/), also known as the tenth cranial nerve, cranial nerve X, or simply CN X, is a cranial nerve that carries sensory fibers that create a pathway that interfaces with the parasympathetic control of the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.[1] It comprises two nerves—the left and right vagus nerves, each containing about 100,000 fibres—but they are typically referred to collectively as a single subsystem. The vagus is the longest nerve of the autonomic nervous system in the human body and comprises both sensory and motor fibers. The sensory fibers originate from neurons of the nodose ganglion, whereas the motor fibers come from neurons of the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus and the nucleus ambiguus
Aorta distributes oxygenated blood to parts of body, The inferior vena cava is a large vein that carries the deoxygenated blood from the lower and middle body into the right atrium of the heart
The sympathetic nervous system consists of cells with bodies in the lateral grey column from T1 to L2/3. These cell bodies are "GVE" (general visceral efferent) neurons and are the preganglionic neurons. There are several locations upon which preganglionic neurons can synapse for their postganglionic neurons
The parasympathetic nervous system consists of cells with bodies in one of two locations: the brainstem (cranial nerves III, VII, IX, X) or the sacral spinal cord (S2, S3, S4). These are the preganglionic neurons, which synapse with postganglionic neurons in these locations
The intricate process of enteric nervous system (ENS) development begins with the migration of cells from the vagal section of the neural crest. These cells embark on a journey from the cranial region to populate the entire gastrointestinal tract. Concurrently, the sacral section of the neural crest provides an additional layer of complexity by contributing input to the hindgut ganglia. Throughout this developmental journey, numerous receptors exhibiting tyrosine kinase activity, such as Ret and Kit, play indispensable roles. Ret, for instance, plays a critical role in the formation of enteric ganglia derived from cells known as vagal neural crest. In mice, targeted disruption of the RET gene results in renal agenesis and the absence of enteric ganglia, while in humans, mutations in the RET gene are associated with megacolon. Similarly, Kit, another receptor with tyrosine kinase activity, is implicated in Cajal interstitial cell formation, influencing the spontaneous, rhythmic, electrical excitatory activity known as slow waves in the gastrointestinal tract. Understanding the molecular intricacies of these receptors provides crucial insights into the delicate orchestration of ENS development.

experiencing yoga brahmam
Brahman means “ Collective Consciousness “ - the only truth, which can only be experienced.
Only a true SEEKER is able to comprehend such profound realities
The “collective consciousness “ / or Divine, keeps MANIFESTING and EXPLORING itself, by recurring births, gatherings experiences, TRANSFERRING the individual experiences back to collective consciousness and withdrawing back to collective consciousness

all human beings should treat each other with respect and courtesy share knowledge
Kerala Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan inaugurated the national symposium on Value based Education organized by Achala Education Foundation at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Sunday, March 17, 2024
"We all might be having different ways of expressing our devotion.
My language, skin colour as well as customs and traditions may also differ from yours. Still, we all are united by our soul, that is what the Indian knowledge tradition teaches us,"
Quoting the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, Khan said "A knowledgeable person is one who will always find unity hidden behind the visible diversity in society".
Citing Swami Ranganathananda, Khan said though the Indian civilisation was known for its knowledge system, it became 'vulnerable and conquerable' because those with immense knowledge had stopped sharing it with the masses .

caste dominance or discrimination is bad
“
That there was a tax on lower caste women in the earlier centuries in parts of Kerala is a fact. But that it was meant to prevent them from covering their breasts in particular seems a bit farfetched, as even royal women, including queens, did not cover their breasts in those days. “Not until the 1860s,” says Manu Pillai, historian and author. What the upper castes carried instead was a shoulder cloth denoting their exalted stature.
Before the British imposed their Victorian morality on the region, “covering the torso was not seen as a mark of modesty or virtue for men and women”, continues Pillai. An illustration of the Dutch traveller Johan Nieuhof visiting the QUEEN OF QUILON in the mid-17th century royal court shows her with her UPPER BODY UNCOVERED.
The accounts of Italian visitor Pietro Della Valle, from the same century, refer to, in Pillai’s words, “the ZAMORIN RAJAH’S SISTER AND NIECES who appeared in DURBAR with just silk cloths round their waists, a lot of jewellery, but NO UPPER COVERING of any kind, not even the shawl...”
This, too, dilutes the theory of the lowest caste women being forced to remain bare breasted.
The breast tax was not about the breast alone. It was about the entire body. So how did the breast tax come to be named so?
“Beyond the name it had nothing to do with breasts. It was just to distinguish between the sexes. It has been misunderstood as a tax for the right to cover breasts — there was no such tax,” says Pillai, firmly dismissing the notion of the lower castes being prevented from covering their breasts in Kerala.
J. Devika, a historian at the Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, agrees. “Men and women, both were expected to leave their chests open. The upper cloth was a mark of the upper caste.”
Lower castes had to pay to be entitled to their entire bodies, not only a part of it.
But what was mulakkaram? What was its quantum? Which transgressions invited its application?
“We don’t have a lot of records. But it was a normal tax. It was levied on the patita jaati workers,” says Devika. Patita were the fallen women of the lowest castes like Ezhava, adds Devika.
The interesting point is that SIMILAR TAXES WERE LEVIED ON LOWER CASTE MEN, TOO : THE HEAD TAX AND MOUSTACHE TAX,
talakkaram and meeshakkaram respectively; the nomenclature chosen for the male gender.”
Dutch representative William Van Nieuhoff in 17th century writes about the attire of Ashwathi Thirunal Umayamma Rani, then queen of Travancore:
“… I was introduced into her majesty’s presence. She had a guard of above 700 Nair soldiers about her, all clad after the Malabar fashion; the Queens attire being no more than a piece of callicoe wrapt around her middle, the upper part of her body appearing for the most part naked, with a piece of callicoe hanging carelessly round her shoulders”

bramacharya abstinence helps achieve better in all aspects of life
In Ancient Indian society, Brahmacharya was practiced by those who SEEK higher levels of thoughts & wisdom. The important aspect of Brahmacharya was to avoid random / scattered / basic-animal level thoughts to more thoughts of of higher levels / higher evolution. Yoga is stilling the fluctuations of the mind - http://holisticyou.de/?p=1043&lang=en . Those who practised Brahmacharya were able to increase their power to think, memory, and other physical and mental abilities.
Though anyone could practice Brahmacharya, people seeking wisdom usually had an exclusive system wherein the practice was imposed through Gurukul type discussion and obedience with Gurus, strict system by which Men and Women were told to control their random thoughts and to achieve more focus / single-mindness . Such training for single-mindness helps a person to use the human life to experience more out of life, rather than mere basic animal-like feelings,
Ancient Indian society used to keep young boys and girls in Gurukul during their teenage, adolescence stage till they become more mature, single-minded & balanced in their thoughts. Such clarity and sharpness of mind helps in making these Brahmacharis become better teachers, rulers, Professionals in whatever field they choose in future. Besides the children of those who had observed Brahmacharyam tend to be more focussed and single-minded also.
Ordinary persons who have wavered thoughts and basic-desires are sometimes desperate that they are not able to achieve single mindedness, such ordinary persons are often jealous of better capabilities of Brahmacharis.
Dhanvantari had taught all the details about Ayurveda to his disciples, they enquired about the keynote of this medical science. The Master replied, “I tell you that Brahmacharya is truly a precious jewel. It is the one most effective medicine–nectar indeed–which destroys diseases, decay and death. For attaining peace, brightness, memory, knowledge, health and Self-realization, one should observe Brahmacharya, which is the highest Dharma. Brahmacharya is the highest knowledge; Brahmacharya is the greatest strength. Of the nature of Brahmacharya is verily this Atman and in Brahmacharya It resides. Saluting Brahmacharya first, the cases beyond cure, I cure. Aye, Brahmacharya can undo all the inauspicious signs.”
Practice of Brahmacharya gives good health, inner strength, peace of mind and long life. It invigorates the mind and the nerves. It helps to conserve physical and mental energy. It augments memory, will force and brain power. It bestows tremendous strength, vigour and vitality. Strength and fortitude are obtained. The eye is the window of the mind. If the mind is pure and calm, the eye also is calm and steady. He who is established in Brahmacharya will have lustrous eyes, a sweet voice and a beautiful complexion.
By the establishment of continence, vigour is obtained. The Yogi gets Siddhi or perfection by attaining perfect mental and physical Brahmacharya. Brahmacharya helps him in gaining divine knowledge and other Siddhis. When there is purity, the rays of the mind are not dissipated. Focussing of the mind becomes easy. Concentration and purity go together. Although a sage talks a few words only, a deep impression is produced in the minds of the hearers. This is due to his Ojas Sakhti (supreme of the seven Dathus ), which is conserved by the preservation of semen and its transmutation https://www.planetayurveda.com/ojas/
A true Brahmachari in thought, word and deed has wonderful thought-power. He can move the world. If you develop strict celibacy, Vichara Sakti and Dharana Sakti will develop. Vichara Sakti is the power of enquiry. Dharana Sakti is the power of grasping and holding the Truth. If a man persistently refuses to yield to his lower nature and remains a strict celibate, the seminal energy is deflected upwards to the brain and is stored up as Ojas Sakti. Thereby the power of the intellect is intensified to a remarkable degree. The intellect becomes sharp and clear by continence. Continence increases infinitely the power of retentive memory. The strict celibate has keen and acute memory even in old age.
A man who has the power of Brahmacharya can turn out immense mental, physical and intellectual work. He has a magnetic aura around his face. He can influence people by speaking just a few words or even by his very presence. He can control anger and move the whole world. Look at Mahatma Gandhi! He had acquired this power by constant and careful practice of Ahimsa, Satyam and Brahmacharya–non-violence, truth and celibacy. He influenced the world through this power alone. Through Brahmacharya and Brahmacharya alone can you get physical, mental and spiritual advancement in life.
It is worth repeating that a true Brahmachari possesses tremendous energy, a clear brain, gigantic will-power, bold understanding, retentive memory and good Vichara Sakti. Swami Dayananda stopped the carnage of a Maharaja. He broke the sword with his hands. This was due to his power of Brahmacharya. Jesus, Sankara, Jnana Deva and Samarth Ramdas were all Brahmacharins.

kashmir shivism
Simple meaning of Consciousness can be “ all information/ experience which a human being is able to gather during his life”. These experiences are shared with the “ultimate consciousness “ - shiva or Collective Consciousness. “Prakasha” is the “ultimate consciousness” or collective-consciousness called as Shiva and “vimarsha” is the NEW experiences which are being gathered in our human life “reflected consciousness “ and deposited back to the “ultimate consciousness “. Because of this depositing of knowledge in Shiva our children / new-generation are becoming more knowledgeable than us and there is more knowledge being gathered in every generation. All shiva’s thiruvilaiyadal 🙏

collective consciousness god
👇
Dr. Wenger, one of the authors, explains this article as follows: In 1933, a student from India first stimulated my interest in Yoga. In an experiment on muscular relaxation his performance far exceeded that of any other subject. He explained that he employed a Yogic method which was commonly used in India, and I made a mental note to go to India someday.
Therese Brosse, a French cardiologist who had taken a portable electrocardio-graph to India in 1935 and measured a few yogis as they attempted to control their heart action.
One of her published EKG records was amazing. It showed a gradual reduction in heart potentials to near zero. She concluded that the heart could be controlled voluntarily.
A review of the literature disclosed similar claims, and other claims off voluntary control over other visceral muscles

Those who claim to be of very Rational thinking, may claim such Naturally flowing thoughts as "Hallucinations".
But it is actually the thoughts which were in the minds of your forefathers, which have been transferred to you through their Genes.
Like 7aum-arivu story, thoughts of our forefathers are hidden in our Genes 👇🏻
It is called collective consciousness, what ever experience we gain in life, some experiences are stored to a "Common- collective- consciousness", which may be called God.
every human being is sharing his experiences with God, and these experiences are shared to future generations from God. That is why generally, our children are becoming more intelligent than us.

Listen to the beautiful summary from 9th minute of the video
Five levels of identity, attachment & confusion
What are koshas? Pouches holding something
The five koshas hold some knowledge
1. The Annamaya kosha holds the knowledge of - your physical body
2. The pranamaya kosha holds knowledge of - energy flow in your body
3 The Manomaya kosha holds knowledge of - moods of your mind, happiness and sadness
4. The vigyanamaya kosha holds knowledge of your Intellect
5 The anandmaya kosha is un attached and relaxed of all attachments
We are to come beyond these five layers of false attachment - five levels of confusion, to understand over basic-true self

Astrology does not essentially mean study of astronomical stars for Luck in our life
Ancient sea-faring communities accross the world appear to have correlated link between the PANCH PRANA which dominant at the time of our birth. Based on this they had probably estimated the TYPE of difficulty we may face at various stages of our life
This calculation probably was based on the advantages and disadvantages of when the dominant of the PANCH pranas travel / shift through " places inside our body / mind"
These calculations are very much internal, and not based on the random movement of some star in the sky.
However it's common sense that ALMOST all astrologers are pretendors. It's practically impossible to make out authentic practitioners of the ancient art.
It's better if people don't seek LUCK, rather they should seek strength, determination and patience to explore and experience life with all its difficulties and happiness

"We withdraw more from the world & indulge less in its pleasures, we increase our internal levels of happiness & tranquillity, which helps to maintain peace & order in the world"

purpose of life
The purpose of the life is the realization of the experience of Absolute Existence, which is the highest fulfillment all the aspirations of the whole of creation
Panchdasi as the name suggest this text, "consisting of 15 Chapters grouped into three quintads. This is very much like the three aspects of Brahman – sat (existence), cit (consciousness) and ananda (bliss), respectively
Viveka-panchaka (विवेक-पञ्चक, (dealing with the discrimination of the real from the non-real): Understanding the nature of reality (Viveka) which distinguishes from external world (जगत, jagata) consist of the five elements -Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth and individual (Jiva) consisting of the five sheaths – Annamaya (अन्नमय, annamaya, Physical), Pranamaya (प्राणमय , prāṇamaya, Vital), Manomaya ( मनोमय, manomaya, Mental), Vijnanamaya Intellectual) and Anandamaya
Pure spirit is encased with five sheaths to delude individual soul as self. Cosmology of creation is described similar to Samkhya philosophy stating the relationship between pure consciousness (Brahman) with material universe.
.
Dipa-panchaka (expounding the nature of the Self as pure consciousness) : The second set of five chapters through light (Dipa) on the Pure Consciousness (Brahman) as the only Reality with Existence (Sat). God (Isvara), World (Jagat) and Individual (Jiva) are described in detail with their mutual relationship.
Theory of perception and process of the ascent of the Jiva to its supreme goal, liberation from Maya (illusion) to unite with Brahman the Absolute. Meaning and method of meditation the way to contact with Reality is also described in very lucid and candid discourse.
Ananda-panchaka(dwelling on the bliss-nature of Brahman): The last five chapters go into details of Brahman as pure Bliss (Ananda). This is not worldly happiness but complex dissolution into eternal pleasure.
Duality of Jiva and God merging into one Consciousness and Existence.
This Atman ( Brahman) is the source of ultimate happiness the purpose of human life.
Vidyaranya has succeeded in an eminent way in setting forth the essentials of Advaita which holds that the direct means to release is the path of knowledge (jnana), and as moksa is the very nature of the Self, it is not an experience which is to be brought about through works (karma) ".

" One should not abandon duties born of one’s nature, even if one sees defects in them, O son of Kunti. Indeed, all endeavors are veiled by some evil, as fire is by smoke."
People sometimes recoil from their duty because they see a defect in it. Here, Shree Krishna states that no work is free from defect, just as fire naturally has smoke on top of it.
For example, we cannot breathe without killing millions of microbes.
If we cultivate the land, we destroy innumerable microorganisms.
If we succeed against competition in business, we deprive others of wealth.
When we eat, we deprive another of food.
