Laughing again, Vivian shook her head. “Yeah you don’t seem like a very loud person to me. But yes, I am very grateful this isn’t a combined high school. I probably would have quit teaching a long time ago if that were the case.”

Vivian nodded and smiled brightly. “Excellent. How are you by the way? How is your head? Any more memory issues?”

“Oh. I put off defense classes until I was already an upperclassman, so there’s a good chance that still could have been me,” Cristina said, cringing. “You seem to be less impressed with freshmen. Are they that bad? I often pretend that they do not exist.”

Vivian chuckled and shrugged. “But you still probably weren’t as loud and obnoxious about practicing. They aren’t necessarily that bad, but it can be more difficult to hold their attention sometimes.”

Kara groaned, her face in her hands as Vivian patted her shoulder. Jesus. She couldn’t even imagine her own parents doing this and now she had her other set acting all lovey-dovey and… Having sex. Oh God. Kara fake gagged, more to be a butt to Vivian than anything else before letting out a dramatic sigh. “Fineeeee. I suppose I’ll come have delicious food. Just as long as you both behave while I’m in the vicinity.”

Vivian grinned and nodded. “I promise we’ll behave. Or at least try to.” She winked before continuing. “Come by around seven and we should have everything ready.”

“It sounds good, but a whiny Patty doesn’t make for much fun. She’s great for a while but when mommy can’t use sternness or money to get us to the front of every line, she gets antsy. Children like instant gratification, as powerful as I am I can’t always give it to her.” She could but she was sure her daughter didn’t want her murdering people right before her very eyes, all because she wanted to ride a ride first. “I’m not exactly happy with our parents right now, so done.” They’d convinced her to be in this hell hole, of course not. “And I’m not bringing her on this campus. It’s too dangerous here, so it’ll have to be somewhere public. A park or a restaurant maybe?” she offered. “My guidelines, we don’t talk about her grandparents, she still thinks the world of them. She doesn’t know that you and I didn’t get along, I shield my daughter from things that don’t concern children. As far as she knows, you’ve just been away.” Sofia wasn’t even going to tell her parents that Patty had met Vivian. She was playing the long game and a classic double cross was occurring here.

“Oh yeah, I definitely don’t envy that part of it.” She chuckled softly. As Sofia listed her own rules for Vivian meeting Patty, Vivian nodded with a small smile. “I agree that it’s too dangerous for her here. A restaurant is fine. We can make it a lunch or dinner. And I have no problem telling her that I was just away. I’m very glad you agree about not telling our parents, but I can also keep quiet about them in front of her. In all honesty the less I have to talk about them the better.”

“That sounds like heaven, in theory. I just know I’d go stir crazy after a day tops. Yeah, sorry. I just, I know who’s where because of the delivery portals, plus I’ve seen you two around. So a beach, hmm?” 

“You’re one of those that just always has to be doing something huh? Yeah a beach. I really, really love the beach. Not so much the water itself, but laying in the sun and having drinks with little umbrellas brought to me on a regular basis. It’s heaven.”

“Anywhere. I don’t care as long as it’s warm and the three things I previously mentioned are involved.”

“Beaches, waterparks, Disney world, land and things like that are on my agenda.” Sofia nodded when she said she had some rules. “Okay, hit me with them, because I don’t have rules, but more so a few…guidelines. My daughter doesn’t meet strangers, but you’re my sister, and she wants to know her aunt, so I make the exception.” Sofia always kept promises to Patty, and she’d promised that she’d get to know her Aunt Viv, and she would keep that promise - whether she liked it or not.

“Sounds like it’s going to be a fantastic summer for you.” She nodded as Sofia spoke, and chuckled softly. “Okay. First, mom and dad absolutely cannot be anywhere nearby. I want to meet Patty, not see our parents again. Second, I would prefer it be somewhere in public. And...that’s actually all I have at the moment.”

“I don’t necessarily have a preference, but somewhere warm and sunny and far away from the crazy of this place.”

“I’m pretty sure Tess would kill me if I took anyone other than her to the beach. Especially with the plans I have in mind.” Vivian chuckled softly. “I’ll put you on the waiting list though.”

“You can’t be serious…” Kara said with a half smile but then the slow realization sunk in and a grimace replaced the smile. “Oh… Oh my god. EW. I do not need that in my head. Lord.”

Vivian started laughing as soon as the realization hit Kara. She reached out to pat her shoulder with a smile. “Sorry. I couldn’t help it. You make it way too easy to mess with you. Do you want to come over for dinner? We’re having homemade pizza and we have leftover strawberry pie from last night.”

“It is no problem. The only unusual part was the vocalization,” Cristina said with a sigh. What else could those students be doing!? Did she want to know? “How… is that a recognizable sound by now? I suppose that they do this often and noisily?”

Laughing again, Vivian shook her head and shrugged. “They do indeed. It’s probably freshman. They’re usually louder and more obnoxious with their practicing. It’s not necessarily very often, but when you’ve been teaching for several years, you learn to recognize the signs. They did the exact same thing at KSA too.”

“Tess is most definitely the beautiful woman in this scenario. I don’t know what our plans are for the summer, but I will definitely be insisting on a beach being involved. Because Tess in a bikini is superb.”
