Here's another mysterious image: a cat with glasses that show galaxies. This image has been an icon of the Internet Awesomesauce trend of early-2010s, as there were desktop wallpapers, T-shirts and even visuals for Prince's last live show featuring this "hipster cat".

So after long digging, I did found the source of this one too!

Meet Lilu (Lusha), a British breed cat of Andy Prokh, a St. Petersburg-based photographer. This photo is actually titled "Mind Games of Ozzy", and is the result of photographer's attempt to make an Ozzy Osbourne-inspired (RIP) photo, while having no model at hand but his own cat. The photo was made and published in 2011 and, after going through hands of random DeviantArt users, was edited to include space in cat's glasses.

While this cat doesn't know about its international popularity, it appears in many other photos made by Prokh:

Have you ever wondered, where those photos are from? I've been seeing them popping up from time to time, usually as part of memes or "cursed image" compilations, so I decided to dig for a source.

These photos are a part of the 1998 photoshoot by Philip Greenspun, one of the "early Internet entrepreneurs", for whom photography has been a big part of his life. This series of photos can be found in the middle of the gallery:

As for what's the purpose of those photos... Those were initially made for Greenspun's article on migrating from Mac to Windows, specifically as illustrations of "only one procedure guaranteed to stop MacOS from crashing".
