///:Reestablishing Connection
Well. We're not dead. But we're laid up for a little while after a pretty ugly deployment. Sort of an "all hands" situation on some research lab floating in high atmospheric orbit of a gas giant that was...tricky. They had the kind of Comms Jamming that you only read about on the holonet, and a lot more manpower keeping what was in there from both being seen and getting out. You really can't explain how those jammers work to normal pilots. It just kind of...ends. No readouts, no scanning data..no voices of your friends and comrades in your ears. You really start to miss all the comm chatter in all that. Even if Glamourshot's chatter is uh..."lively".
READ_ONLY NOTES://Oh my god stop using actual combat maneuvers as therapy please god why are you oversharing on public comms as a reason to kill you fucking frea- What we saw in there...I'd rather go with "you don't wanna know and if you did, you'd have done the same thing." I lost a lot of drones, we all lost a little bit of respect for SSC, and we handed one real sick freak to the DoJ. That's what matters. We're all a little banged up. Pretty sure Sureshot has a concussion; high atmospheric winds and that ZEPHYROS actually don't get along well at all. Longshot's all scratched up from what seemed like habitual rough landings all over that heap of metal and pain; Ironshot's mech is only barely functional in that it has legs and a mortar launcher, Moonshot's had a real rough time of it thanks to what she saw down there, so we're trying to be here for her while she's sort of mentally setting herself together. We're in residence at a local station while we wait for our ride to recover. She got it bad on the initial entry. She's a tough bitch, though. We're really just waiting for her shoulder to set at this point. I'm pretty sure the only one in our little cadre that came out happy was Glamourshot. Maybe Buckshot too. Can't really read her, y'know?...maybe it's better I can't. Always kind of reminds me of what it's like being back home. I just get all figety around people who are always "on" like that. But yeah other than that, it's business as usual with us. Sorry about disappearing on you like that after just starting to see how things work around here. How've you been, omninet? We're still for hire...just not all of us. Also if you're in this part of space there's a place that sells this weird local dish that tastes like the sequel to French Onion Soup and comes in this weird ladel-bowl...thing. Lifechanging stuff. //:Tr1cksh0t

I love my co-pilots to death but every time I ask Moonshot about where she came from I think I go a little insane because half of it just sounds impossible.
What the hell do or would anyone mean by "Metat Aun told you to go, so you did"????????

There's a lot of reasons we screen requests, from operational requirements to appropriate scouting to simple background checks so we don't end up doing the dirty work for a despot.
Right at the very tip top is "we know our crew and what they're good at", and if you’reasking for certain members of the company by name? Craaaazy suspicious! If you’re requesting Glamorshot and Buckshot for "shock and awe" operations, we know what you're trying to do! We've been in those ops with them! "and awe" is not their specialty!

///:Access:Bowshocks-Public-Server-1 ////:Access: Granted Recording: Speed Trials-45tha
A fairly mediocre-resolution camera comes alive; a dull, flat shot of a collapsed caldera; one side of the bowl long having been eroded by time and the rigors of time. The interior meanwhile is largely grass, with the only intrusion being a very At the far left side of the bowl; a violet and white mech stands on a somewhat well kept runway, undergoing what appear to be final checks for a scheduled flight.
///USER: NHP-NOAH-Burnice HAS ESTABLISHED CONNECTION ///:NHP-N-Burnice: All Safety Checks are complete. The wind is blowing out of the valley at approximately .3 knots. The airspace is yours. ///USER: Longshot-X HAS ESTABLISHED CONNECTION ///Longshot-X: Crosswind, huh? Don't think my record's in any danger with that. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: The forces you will be placing upon both your mech and yourself under upon takeoff will more than likely counteract any bearing the wind has, Longshot. Your flight will be unimpeded. ///: Longshot-X: Can you at least give me a chance of tailwind? I really want this one to be the one. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: I will remind you that this is a tremendous waste of company resources- ///: Longshot-X: Can you at least give me a chance of tailwind? I really want this one to be the one. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: Oh fine. Give me a second.
The mech in frame takes a ready stance, the sight of thruster exhaust blowing the long grass back flat is noticeable behind it. The trademark whine of a jet turbine beginning to be audible.
///:NHP-N-Burnice: The wind will have a 93% chance of shifting behind the VIOLET COMET in 35 seconds. I will set a timer. ///:Longshot-X: Got it. Thanks Burnie. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: Good luck!
The thruster exhaust is now visible as a near directed flame; smaller thrusters begin to spin up; the notable whine beginning to become higher and higher; a vast amount of the grasses and reeds behind the mech are nearly flattened by the sheer force being put out. It takes a half step, as if trying to contain the energy urging it forward.
///:NHP-N-Burnice: Your tailwind has come. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: You are cleared for takeoff.
The Mech takes only a step before blasting forward; the flicker of thin indigo lights on it's midsection seemingly the pilot light for an explosion of purple fire propelling it forward like a rocket. the camera completely losing it's subject as the fireball chases it's creator into the heavens; creating a steady curve that carries past the runway and out of the caldera.
///:NHP-N-Burnice: Longshot away. Time calculated on takeoff is 4.262352 seconds. You are over a second and a half over your sortie record. My sincerest apologies, Longshot. ///:Longshot-X: Aaaah, dammit. ///:Longshot-X: Oh well. May as well do sensors checks while I'm up here. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: Very well. Please check in when you are on your initial landing.
///:Longshot-X: Thanks. You know who's in charge while I'm up here. ///:NHP-N-Burnice: Of course. We will try again next time. Ground Fire Suppressants released. Damage to local flora localized and minimal.
Recording: End

We're sending a couple of our team members Cradleward for a very short trip soon, and they're looking to get good recommendations for food at stations along the way.
Anybody have any recommends? They don't have any diet restrictions as far as I know.
://Longshot
///:Addendum from User:Ironshot: If you suggest italian, it'd better be good.
Correction: there is now one diet restriction.

Thank you ever so kindly, my little stranger in a box. Call me curious, what -exactly- are we missing out on? While we've all got our preferences, I promise you, none of us are strangers to the collective's potential. Particularly myself. But please! go on ahead, go into detail. ///:Archived VMRT37-1 Pilot Server, 0300 hours.
Tr1cksh0t: Ryker, got a question for you. Longshot-X: I'm like half-awake, what's up? Tr1cksh0t: Have you seen what's been going on the Omninet recently? Longshot-X: I try not to doomscroll if I can help it Longshot-X: what's the problem Tr1cksh0t: There seems to be a mass printing of mechs Longshot-X: Isn't that a good thing? Tr1cksh0t: HORUS. Mechs. Longshot-X: ...Isn't that how you got your licenses? Tr1cksh0t: This is different and you know it. Longshot-X: Alright, go ahead and enlighten me Longshot-X: how is it different. Tr1cksh0t: Seems like someone or something is actively trying to mass-impart extremely dangerous HORUS tech to random pilots almost at random. Longshot-X: I'm being as kind about this as I can Longshot-X: Literally how is that any different from how you got your licenses Tr1cksh0t: [howruthisdense.omf] Tr1cksh0t: Normally these come as licenses that you can have the option of printing, smart guy. These are just being printed at point of receipt. That's -dangerous-. What if they get plopped into the middle of a mechanic's workshop? Or a school? Longshot-X: If you're really that worried about it you can go put in some time to dig up who's doing it? But until then it's 3 in the morning and I want some sleep. If a distress call comes in about it, that's when we'll deal with it. So far, I'm just looking at this and all I'm seeing are registered pilots. Longshot-X: at least I'm pretty sure they are. Longshot-X: If anything changes, let me know. Tr1cksh0t: Ugh. Fine. Tr1cksh0t: Don't come crying to me when your pointy plane with legs can't fly because half the system has Goblins. Longshot-X: I'll send Bruno after them Longshot-X: Kind of hard to hack that brick's mech Tr1cksh0t: shit u rite Tr1cksh0t: I'll keep tabs on it. Just promise me we'll move on it if something goes sideways? Longshot-X: Sure, but it has to go sideways first. Longshot-X: I'll see you in the morning Longshot-X has gone AFK.

///: Omni-Net Link Established... Heading: Introduction
Longshot-X: Okay. Let's take this from the top.
Longshot-X: How's it going, Omni-Net? My name is Ryker, callsign Longshot, I'm sort of a de-facto head of the 37th Vanguard Mobile Response Team, but we usually just go by our nickname these days: "The Bowshocks.", after our founder's mech. We specialize in two things: Showing up quickly, and shutting down incursion forces, police actions against innocent civilian pops in unstable environments, invasions by petty tyrants, pirate interdiction (okay, maybe like...two of us are equipped to do it without some kind of EVA add-on), search and rescue, and various other tactical configurations to best suit your burgeoning planetary democracy/republic/democratic republic. We go loud or we go quiet, but we always go.
Our Team is a pretty diverse bunch of folks, in addition to support staff, our team consists of:
Longshot - Yours truly. Specialties in Flight, CQB Interdiction, and High-Speed Operations. I pilot an ASV Peregrine.
Sureshot - Goes by Mohamad or "Mo". He/Him. My best buddy out here, a Pure Sniper. He cut his teeth back home and we met when the Bowshocks came to his world, and joined up after the operation was over. Has a lower resting heart rate or something. Either way, Mo's fuckin' lethal. Nobody I'd rather have as backup. Pilots an IMI Zephyros.
Trickshot - Marigold. She/Her. MASSIVE infiltration expert. Former HA...among some other stuff she loves to kind of spring on us. Not a huge fan of that, but she gets results. Pilots a """Kuzutov""".
Glamourshot - Clarissa, She/Her. She gets called "Lady Clarissa" or "Princess" by just about everybody, not that she cares. We thought she was gonna be just a financier and then uh...she turned out to have a VLAD and a considerable knowledge on how to use it. There isn't really a real designation I would give her tactically beyond "Shock Doctrine" and "Psychological Warfare". NOT AVAILABLE FOR ANY MISSIONS IN KARRAKIN OR DAWNLINE SHORE SPACE. CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH. DO NOT ASK. In fact we're probably going to limit her knowledge of this link just to keep us out of any Karrakin grudges or warcrime lists.
Ironshot - Bruno. He/Him. I genuinely do not know what they did to make a guy that big on an agricultural colony. Seriously, dude's built like a fucking house. Makes an incredible chicken parm, though! Love him to death. Turns out he has some real funky ideas on how to break sieges, though that's pretty easy to do when you're piloting something that big. Pilots a WAZAL TR-10 Indigo Dream.
Moonshot - Charity. She/They. Kind of a space case, Aun defector lady. Frankly I'm stunned she even has the licenses she does, but she's good with that bow. She would like to impress that you are loved and that Metat Aun has a plan for us all. Pilots an SSC Emperor.
Buckshot - We found her in a SecCom lab some desperate shithead despot decided to boot back up. We got her out but we know next to nothing about her and she doesn't remember a thing. She doesn't say much, but she's great at following orders. Anybody who knows a "Jasper Ryan" from the Sierra Madre line, Anticentre region of Union space? Please hit us up. We'd like to know more about her because she's frankly a complete mystery. Pilots an Everest.
