Gaza has been in a water crisis for months now, there is virtually no clean/drinkable/accessible water due to Israel’s occupation and siege.

With the summer months approaching, the temperatures in Gaza are rising (it will be nearly 40 celsius there this week) and the lack of viable water is going to continue to cause extreme destruction.

For those who don't know, Rafah Crossing is closed. Meaning Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are technically not allowed to go into Egypt through Rafah Crossing (with exceptions, like holding a foreign passport) so in order to evacuate, Palestinians need to bribe Egyptian border security officials. The standard price used to be about $5000 - 7000 per person but some Palestinians have been told to pay $10,000 per person just to cross the border, forget other expenses like food and boarding.

For a group of people who are enduring genocide and the complete destruction of their homes that money is impossible to raise without the help of fundraising. That and the collapse of the UNRWA is the reason you're seeing so many Gofundmes nowadays. The entire aid system is gone with the exception of local aid organisations that have limited reach.

So if you see a credible fundraiser, please at the very least share it so it can reach more people. This list by @el-shab-hussein is a good place to start.

it looks like this is from a demo of an old program by AHS called crazytalk 6, which seems to be basically one of those programs where you can make images move/talk. (i guess deepfakes? though i'm not sure this is advanced enough to be deepfakes)

there's still info about it on this page. the demo videos don't seem to work anymore, but the kiyoteru one at least still exists on youtube:

though i'm not sure if this art was preexisting or if it was made specifically for this program demo. this video was uploaded only a couple months after kiyoteru's original V2 release though, so i can't imagine it would have been used for much else.

Update: Eid Celebration!

For Eid, Hussam hired some entertainers and bought some chocolate, biscuits, and flavored milk to put into a goodie bag to help bring a bit of joy to Rafah camp children.

He managed to put together 200 goodie bags for the kids, which you can see being put together in the video! After that, they gathered all the children to enjoy a celebration with music and dancing while also hiring entertainers to help them out.

The kids loved it! Thanks to your donations, you helped put a smile on these children’s faces, yet again!

hiatus

this blog will be going on hiatus. i don't want to interefere with the awareness of the ongoing genocide of palestine.

if you want to educate yourself on the history of zionist occupation in palestine and the lies zionists use in their propaganda, decolonizepalestine.com is a great resource. if you want to learn specifically about recent israeli propaganda, this twitter thread is a good start, it puts together evidence and explanations for the main events israel is lying about.

currently, gaza is unable to receive aid, and israel has cut off their access to food, water, electricity and fuel - the people trapped have found ways to generate electricity for themselves for purposes such as charging phones, but not enough to properly survive. meanwhile, israel continues to fabricate propaganda.

as they bomb hospitals and surrounding areas, israel fabricates propaganda to frame hamas (the current de facto leaders of gaza). recently, they had 2 people fake a conversation between "hamas operatives" discussing launching a rocket at al-ahli hospital; people who are familiar with the arabic language quickly saw through it due to the inaccurate accents, tone and syntax, not to mention the ridiculous circumstance of israel somehow having access to such a specific recording. this is just one example; israel uses this propaganda to perpetuate the image of "self-defense" against the "barbaric" palestinians, and use accusations of antisemitism to deflect any criticism (as i hope we all know, israel is NOT synonymous with judaism). the united states government helps them by spreading this propaganda and funding their military.

the best we can do now is raise awareness and have faith in palestine. gaza will not die in silence. israel will go down as an unforgivable, genocidal, terrorist state, and palestinian survivors will live to revive their home and culture. the united states govenment will either listen to the demands of the people to stop assisting in genocide, or they will go down in infamy under the weight of all their own war crimes.

i cannot say that this blog will return to posting when palestine is free. unfortunately, palestine will not be truly free for a very long time. but this is a dire emergency situation, and once there are enough signs that palestine is on its way to recovering, this blog's activity may continue as normal. but even when that happens, rest assured that i will never forget about palestine or stop advocating for them, and as followers of this blog i hope that you won't, either.

is there a reason you unpinned your pinned?

yes. it's temporary, but i want to take a break from posting vocaloid facts because i want to focus on supporting palestine. i want the posts i reblogged about it to be easily visible. this isn't going to turn into a palestine news blog, aside from reblogging a few posts from what i reblog on main, but i want everyone else to be aware of it too.

i'll post a proper hiatus announcement tomorrow. this isn't a case of "i'll stop posting until palestine is 100% saved", that's an unrealistic thing for me to wish for in the near future. palestine's liberation will take a lot of continuous outside effort. at the moment, i want to focus on helping raise awareness and spread hope and faith that palestine will survive this and finally have the means to begin to rebuild. once palestine is no longer in such an extreme state of emergency, i'll consider ending the hiatus, though i will continue to support palestine no matter what.
