Did you hear me? When you walked away, Donovan, could you hear me? My confusion? My realization of how deeply you must have hated me? Could you have even heard me? Or did you walk away as if you couldn't? I don't know which is worse. You couldn't have heard it all. You were much too busy entertaining your court to listen to my unanswered prayers. You were too busy sharing your nonsense tales about your hunting trips to listen to me scratch at the walls until the bones in my finger tips turned to chalk against the walls. Too busy pretending I was already dead to hear my curse the gods for forsaking me just as you had. You couldn't hear me then. Not until after I clawed my own way out. Not until I returned to court and sang my final ballad, just for you. When I declared I would burn your memory, that you would be known forever as a butcher. You wouldn't hear me then. But you will hear me now. You're dead now. You're dead by my hands. I saw your corpse, I accepted it was by my own hands. I even said a few words. That was far more generous than you would have afforded me. Had it been your way, I would have been a desiccated corpse eaten by rats, never to see the light of day again. And now you're with me forever. We're bound together now. My trophy, my conduit for magic, my reminder of everything my rebirth has afforded me to remember. That is all you are now, Donovan. A tool in the plot of something much more powerful than you ever were. As am I. As are us all. Maybe it's funny, in a cosmic sense. But you've never been someone easy to make laugh. Is that why you ended up hating me so? Or did you simply get bored? Regardless, we're bound together. Forever. Can you hear me now, Donovan?

fun behaviors to give dragons that aren't feline/canine based

cause as much as i love dragons purring and roaring i wish there was just more variety in how they would act

clacking their teeth together to show contentedness/happiness (budgies)

using tails as a defensive weapon in a whip like fashion (iguana)

twitching to express that they're not a threat to members of their species (hognose snake)

feeling calm when eyes are hooded/covered (birds of prey)

head bobbing as a threat display (anoles/bearded dragons)

flattening neck or sides to appear bigger (snakes/lizards)

mantling over food to protect it from hatchmates (birds of prey)

wiggling neck as a courting maneuver (budgies)

audibly grinding teeth as a warning (macaques)

maintained eye contact as a challenge (gorillas)

pounding wings against sides as a threat (gorillas)

slapping other dragons with their claws when their personal bubble is invaded (seals)

hoards used as a site to impress mates (birds of paradise)

snorting when undergoing heightened stress (horses)

making repeated loud noises with surroundings to establish territory (woodpeckers)

loud constant arguments with other dragons when roosting (bats)

building lairs that cause a domino effect of change in the land around them (beavers)

slapping their tails against the ground/water as a warning (beavers)

wiggling tail tip to attract prey (various animals)

wiggling tail tip as a warning (snakes)

plucking or scraping off scales as a sign of stress (parrots)

raising spines/frills as a response to danger and carrying on with their usual business as they believe they're protected (lionfish)

and im not saying canine and feline behaviors are wrong or bad to give a dragon (people wouldn't write dragons with those behaviors if they weren't fun in the first place!) but i feel for creatures that are mythological giant winged lizards that you can do more and get experimental with it. often the more unfamiliar behavior the more dragony the dragon feels

so my apartment building got a notice board to post fire alarm tests and maintenance announcements and such. the building is pretty well-maintained, so we rarely get notices. the board is big and grey and to think it would be empty like that 99% of the time was a bland boring sin i just couldn't bear, so i vandalized the corner of its empty canvas with a teeny tiny Guy

and within a few days, there was a sudden addition from my one of my neighbors along with a Bunch of thumbtacks. this was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

well there was still so much space, i figured i'd add another crumb to the art hoard. i'd been playing genshin that day so i drew my favorite grandpa

and like clockwork, new art manifested!! this person is gonna grow to be a great artist i know it. the detail in those stones? hell yeah that's cool.

we're two weeks into it. more neighbors have joined in with their artwork. who knew there were so many artists in my building?? we're onto somethin great here i just know it.
