also since @avianhasnodignity pointed it out and it IS worth mentioning -

chase gets a lot of shit in fandom for being fatphobic, as he should, but he actually seems to drop it after a while! in s1 he's super awful about jessica, and in s3 he nope's out of treating the obese patient -- although even then, he's less nasty than he was in s1. but s5? in "joy," the patience is being bullied for her weight, and chase tells off her bullies pretty strongly. in s6, they treat a 300lb football player, and chase never once suggests his size as a symptom or an issue.

is he a shining ally now? obviously not. but he did quietly drop this trait over time (just as other characters also learn and grow and soften their stances -- cameron becomes more comprising, foreman stops hating poor people). chase grew up, too!

it was a weird scene. it was a bad decision. no one is out here saying it was fine or normal or cute. but acting like chase is a pedo because of that one moment is such an obnoxiously bad-faith take.

the kid was dying (or thought she was iirc), and she asked him for a kiss because she wanted to feel like she’d had a first kiss before she died. he didn’t kiss her out of attraction. he wasn’t even thinking. it was a badly written moment designed for maximum discomfort and shock because that’s literally what house md does

can we like. stop pretending this is some proof he’s irredeemable or something. there are so many worse things done by characters in this show and y’all fixate on this like it’s the smoking gun...

stop flattening characters into one bad take. it’s lazy. it’s boring.
